Thank you for your kind words. Really appreciate it. I have plans for the future, using archive videos explaining how it works flying a big Airbus. Take care and have a great Christmas! 🎄🙂

such a brilliant video CPT, however, Newark airport was one of the beautiful travel experiences I've ever had which you made me have these nice vibes again 👏👏👏
thanks so much for sharing! EWR has been my home airport since moving to the USA from PL, love seeing all your behind the scenes footage. shame I never got a chance to fly with you from ewr to cph! all the best 👍
I checked the original video and the rotation is clearly after Vr. So I must have fucked up in the editing process. 😅 I can’t re edit and I don’t want to re post the video so I have to live with it. 🤷🏻♂️
After several hundred departures from Newark I've found out that a manual first turn to the left gives a more distinct response, which is good for noise and tracking. The next turn is to the right at 2,3 dme. At this point several things happen at the same time. You should reduce to climb thrust (pf), set the first pack on (pm) and contact departure (pm). If you fly manually which is perfectly allowed, you need to ask the copilot to do the selections on the fcu panel, but if the autopilot is engaged you do it yourself as flying pilot. Flying manual is not good crew resource management because you put even more work on the copilot, when he/she should concentrate on the radio, put the pack on and monitor the flight. I always briefed the copilots as special info, that "a lot of things happens at 2,3 nm". So please engage autopilot before 2,3 because it reduces workload significantly!
@@bjornpilot Many thanks bjorn pilot for your swift response. So I see it a workload matter that you engaged AP so soon. So I take it that you would hand-fly more at a less busy airport departure.
Happy holidays captain …. It’s been a long time since you vlogged ☺️ and in one video you mentioned that you had retired!!! I hope that’s not true, at least it seems so from this video !
@@bjornpilot It's a beautiful river! I've ridden over it numerous times on the train on the way to Massachusetts to visit extended family throughout the years!!
At what point do you normally turn on the auto pilot when departing from Newark? I couldn’t tell when you switched it on in this clip since the stick movements were so subtle.
After the initial 500 ft turn, which I do manually. So lets say at 700 ft. You need to turn promptly at 500ft due noise reasons. So manual flying. Then you need to relieve the pm from work so he/she can concentrate on the radio talk. If you turn the ap on you relieve the pm from selecting things on the panel. The more subtle control inputs you do on a 330 the better it flies. Small inputs gives a smooth flight.
Bjorn, which airport in did you prefer flying into and out of NJ or JFK or Laguardia? Personally Laguardia seemed like less hassle for just regular passenger. The wait on the runway was far shorter than JFK but waiting for moss to grow is a shorter wait than JFK lol
I read a book called “The Unfriendly Skies” that was written by an anonymous airline pilot at the time. He said that he absolutely hated flying out of LaGuardia due to it’s short runways and congestion.
@@stever7157 I only recall sitting and sitting and sitting and sitting and sitting and sitting some more at JFK. LGA had a wait but not for hours and hours like JFK. OMG you just want to jump off the wing and walk wherever you're going. Would take far less time lol. I've lost all patience for NYC airports in general because none are ever quick. Plus LGA is a smaller airport and less hassle to get around. Plus JFK literally tries to cram ever single person in the world into the airport at one time. I don't do crowds well if you can't tell lol
I thought you were flying again! Great video however. I've always wanted to ask a professional commercial pilot. What was the most challenging or perhaps nerve-wracking in flight emergency or failure you've experienced? Please do not spare the technical terms. :)
Has to be a treat flying an Airbus! Some of the finest things ever made! And you sir on point great job!
Thank you 🙂
Very cool video.
i love the Scandinavian A330s, they sound amazing when they go over my house
Merry Christmas! Best veiw!
I was confused why you rotated before V1, but I can see that the audio is just not in sync with the video.
OMG I was wondering about that too !!!
That had me really worried too. I hope this is the case
I always enjoy these archive videos. Merry Christmas to you and your family!

You wasn’t playing around nice rolling take off!!!
Rolling is quicker and better for the engines. Less fod.
Thanks for the 4:00 of taxiing. Fascinating.
Thanks Greg! 🙂
Hello! I dont know if it was just me, but you rotated before v1 was called?

Hahaha that’s fine, was just curious 🙂
The Uber lot is at the end of the runway so drivers get a great view of takeoff landing.
Marry Christmas Mr.bjornpoilt
Beautiful video!! But why did you rotate before the V1?
Think there was a misstake in editing the video, or more likely V1 and VR was the same speed. 😅
@@bjornpilot 🤙🏼🤙🏼😅✈
Hi Bjorn! Why did you use the AP so short after takeoff? Is it possible to hand fly more?

I can tell its old, the parking lot to the left at take off is the uber lot for drivers and its not used yet in this video
First time I see a lifting off before V1 ??
Error in editing the sound 😅
I forgot how F'ing cool planes are

airborne before V1?
7:18 THE HUDSON RIVER!!!!!
Yes! 👍🏼🙂
@@bjornpilot It's a beautiful river! I've ridden over it numerous times on the train on the way to Massachusetts to visit extended family throughout the years!!
Hi Capt. Quick question, Is it ok to take the hands off from the thrust levers before V1 and rotate? just for my information as an enthusiast.
Slight error in the sound edit 😅
@@bjornpilot ha haa 😅 I thought so 😅
Looks to me that the nose was off the runway and you were in-climb, before V1 and the callout to rotate.
Maybe a edit error 😅

I believe SAS only flies into EWR 😬
Have never flown in to LGA, only to JFK with the DC-10. So long time ago I don't remember it. Probably around 1987. 😅
I read a book called “The Unfriendly Skies” that was written by an anonymous airline pilot at the time. He said that he absolutely hated flying out of LaGuardia due to it’s short runways and congestion.

Why haven't you waited for the "rotate"?
Slight error in the sound vs picture editing. 😉
You pulled back on the stick and the aircraft rose beforeV1.
Edit mistake 😅
VR ni innan V1 eller är det bara ett syn fel :)
Ja. Eller dåligt synk på ljudet.
I thought you were flying again! Great video however. I've always wanted to ask a professional commercial pilot. What was the most challenging or perhaps nerve-wracking in flight emergency or failure you've experienced? Please do not spare the technical terms. :)
An engine shut down itself one hour from landing on a flight to Tokyo. But it was not nerve wrecking at all. Rather calm.
@@bjornpilot 50% quieter flying experience. :) Or 25%. Not sure what you may have been flying
@@bjornpilot Can you explain why the engine failed, or the circumstances? Just very interested, thank you.
Hope the Audio was off on this. He lifted well before Vr
Misstake in the editing. I can live with it. 😄
Ha, ha! Had to read the title of the video twice. What’s wondering what airplane an A360 might be. Then realized it’s a 360 GoPro.
