Amen to "Who cares about going out when you could be at home studying your lines and living your dream?" ... or at home writing or working on your film.

I would study any chance I could get.

Go get that "chance". That which hinders your task IS your task.

I love this video! I'm in school majoring in theater right now and I plan to move to Atlanta or LA after I graduate. I do have an agency that submits me for things, but I didn't want to sit there and wait for things to come. I started this RUclips channel with just vlogs so I can get used to editing and speaking on camera - I want to upload monologues and such too so I can build an audience, like he said! you can't be scared to self-promote!

If you are interested, I just launched a channel specifically for people like you either planning to make the big move or recently already relocated to LA who probably could use all the guidance they can get! Check out my latest channel here and let me know if you found it useful :) ruclips.net/video/rO3k27BjsZs/видео.html

Hayden Charles Thanks Hayden, we're planning to piece together a longer video with advice for actors preparing to move to Los Angeles. Though it may be a bit longer before we are able to begin work on it.

Dear Film Courage, in your next interview with an actor, would you mind getting a bit technical, explaining how the actor prepares for a role? When does she learn the lines? Before or after figuring out who her character is? What are the most important things the actor has to figure out about the character to make it work for her?
Thank you for all your efforts.
A huge fan from Germany ;)

Fit2Model We asked your questions in this new interview ruclips.net/video/KPsvG-DjRfw/видео.html Turns out it was an improv film, so the process was different. Still some great insights from two talented young actors.

I think a lot of that depends on how they were trained. A Meisner trained actor is going to prepare a little different than a method actor or character actor. One good place to start though is a book called "An Actor Prepares". I think ultimately though each of us finds our own way & you stick with what works for YOU. Train as much as you can; read as much as you can; watch as many videos as you can. Nobody can tell you which approach is going to work best for you. It's almost like learning to ride a bike, you can read for years and even get a degree in mechanical engineering but you'll never learn balance until you get on and ride. Find YOUR path.
