hey!! Fun and real video :)) would love a video on your education and your opinion on what you can expect from a degree in this field!
it makes me so happy that you liked it!! and thank you, what a great idea! will definitely make a video on that😃🙌
I loved this soooo much! PLEASE make more vlogs!
aw thank you so so much!! I definitely will :D
I just enrolled for a financial analyst course and your video is the only one that made me look forward to the course.
it makes me so happy that you liked it, thank you so much! And best of luck with your financial analyst course, I hope you'll enjoy it :D
In which course you enrolled into?
I studied international business for my bachelor and entrepreneurship for my masters :) I did take a lot of finance and economics courses along the way, but I didn't major in it
@@sasikanthmynampati158 ALX is currently offering a free financial analyst course for Africans all over the world.
Great video! I just graduated and am looking into different financial analyst positions myself. I definitely need practice on Excel though.. What different functions should I have a good understanding of? On applications, I've seen them mention VLookup and Pivot Tables. Thank you!
Thanks so much! For Excel, I recommend practicing the different if formulas, xlookup (it's an improved version of vlookup but does the same), xirr, maybe a few data layout formulas too, and then charts and pivot tables like you mentioned :D Huge congrats on graduating and wish you best of luck!🎉🎉
your doing a fantastic job !!! keep growing and yes i watched all your videos !!! all the best im from india 🇮🇳❤️
thank you so so much!! greetings from Denmark😍🥳
can you post a video on the steps you took (education + work experience) that led you to the role you currently have? THANK YOU!!
Yes definitely!!🤗 I have uploaded a video on my best tips for how to get your first job in finance if you're interested in that too
Girl, take CARE of your health!!
Love from Portugal 🇵🇹🇵🇹🇵🇹🇵🇹
thank you!!🇵🇹🇵🇹🇵🇹 and promise, will do😃😚
Hey @pearlstell,
I wondered that only in my contry "India", Educational institutions are used to teach students like obsolete curriculum and out of course subjects that they have no relationship with the real world job roles that a student aspires to fit into.
But listening to you saying that "why we haven't been taught Excel spreadsheet or other BI Tools" that have real time impact on candidates looking for a job role in Finance stream. Seems like most countries educational systems are not up to the mark.
BTW, I am also working as an FP&A role similar kind of yours.
Cheers🎉😂❤.
As a finance student, this was great! 💕✨ just subscribed
aw thank you so much and best of luck with your studies!!💗🤗
7:14 this happened to me too once 🤣🤣 men that was like so embarrassing. I was like, how dumb can i be + it was my first week of work
Hello! Sophomore in college here, and we do indeed have Excel-based classes now... four major-required classes of them to be exact lol
wow that's so cool!! wish I had had that too, I'm sure it's really useful :D
The little dance in the end! Haha
haha thank you for watching all the way to the end!
greeting from Brazil! I Work on FP&A in my job.
What did you get your degree in? I'm a finance major and this is almost exactly what I want to do after I graduate.
Hi, thank you for sharing the video. I got my economics degree, and am interested in this position but not sure if I would make the cut…I got an economics BA and business administration mjnor…thing is I have a really low gpa and no internship experience. Where should I start from
More like this I really enjoyed it!!💕 What was your major ?
thank you so so much!!💕 I'll definitely make more :D my undergrad major was international business and then I did a 1-year masters in entrepreneurship
@7:38 I don't think anyone can answer that. :) But it's true that most financial analysts are self-taught in excel.
I’m double majoring in economics and finance
Can I still be a financial analyst if I don't want to work on finalizing financial statements, a task typically handled by Big 4 accountants?
This video really helped me, I'm going for a bach in Finance and this is the career I'm definitely going into. Did you do a lot of internships in college before coming an analyst? Amazing video.
that makes me so happy to hear, thank you!! And that sounds awesome!! I actually didn't do any official internships during my studies (mostly because a lot of my studies were in the US and I didn't have a work visa at that time, only a student visa so I wasn't allowed to have an internship), I was just involved with different student organizations and such. BUT I would definitely recommend doing finance related internships if you can, it'll help a ton when applying for your first full time job out of school🤗Wish you best of luck!
@@pearlstella Hi, there, hope you're having a great day. How are doing? Are you still working as a financial analyst for the company? Thank you for the content, the videos are very exciting and useful to watch, especially this one. So, basically I'm a highschooler who badly wants to get into this career. And I have a question to ask. So, does acquiring technical skills ( e.g. excel-oriented courses, PowerPoint courses ) make sense or should I focus on something else right now? What would you suggest me?
heyy, i love u so much and ur videos are interesting❤️, can i ask...how many hours do you work a day as a financial analyst and do you have day offs on weekends or do you work on weekends❤️
aww thank you so much!! you just made my day ❤️ it definitely depends and can vary a lot week to week, but usually 50 hours a week sometimes 60 hours and only rarely work on weekends :)
Hi
I have an interest in public finance but I don't have any experience in finance. My question is would l be given admission to study MBA in public finance as an International student
Hi, I might’ve missed it, but what company do you work for and how much experience in finance did you have before landing the job??
Hey😄 I have an undergrad in international business and a 1-yr masters in entrepreneurship. I graduated 2 years ago and have been working since (I landed my current job with 1.5yr full time work experience). I'll make a video soon too where I'll go more into depth about my experience, how I landed my job, and my best tips🤗🙌
I'm in FP&A... Senior Analyst. Are you going to stay in FP&A? If not, which career path could you see yourself transitioning into?
Ohh that's so cool! Tbh I'm still figuring it out, but I think I'll eventually want to go into investments, probably a hedge fund or private equity or something :) what about you?
How are the hours on a daily, do you often find yourself doing more than 8hrs a day? Thanks for the video, surprised you studying CFA level 3, working and still finding time to vlog. Keep it up girl😁👏👏
Thank you so much Steven! I've been having so much fun vlogging, I definitely want to continue🤗 Work is usually 10h/day, more in busy periods, and then I try to get 1-2 hours of studying in a day (I'll ramp up my study schedule as I get closer to the exam) 😃
@@pearlstella that exam pressure hihihi. Pliz make sure you add the designation to your channel once you have attained the charter😄 to give us more push. So about the models, are you required to build them from scratch or the companies/IBs usually have templates you can build onto. Also what resources can you recommend to best teach finacial modelling for one not currently employed in the finance industry. Thanks☺️
ooh good idea, I'll definitely add it once I finally get it some day haha😃 we have templates that we use as the foundation whenever we do a valuation, but I help with updating/adding modeling to the templates too. For learning financial modeling, I think there's some really good excel courses that are made to specifically teach financial modeling (anything from beginner to advanced) on LinkedIn Learning (I think the first month is free) and other places like skillshare, udemy, etc., and then lots of free resources on youtube too🙌
@@pearlstella alright. Thank you.
That was so funny! 3:17
yayyy
Hi, I'm a first time Subscriber... Please how can I connect with you. I want to go into finance once I'm done with my undergraduate degree in Mathematics 🙂.
I plan on taking a Post graduate diploma in Financial Analytics in Canada.
Literally my dream job, currently finishing up community college, i graduate next year for my 2 year degree and then plan on transferring to aim for Finance, do you suggest i maybe do a minor to add with my finance major and if so what would you say is good? Also what are some things i could do to prepare myself for this job and things i could practice online like with excel to improve my skills and those areas? Sorry for all the question lol
Minor in accounting wouldn’t hurt. FP&A is very accounting heavy anyways
Please aim higher then an analyst. They are nobody in the corporate. Analyst are the bottom tiers they are literally entry level position.
@@kinqmav226 Ahh ok i see, what would you say i should pursue within the finance field?
@@zooka2620 as an entry level position out of college it’s great step to get your foot in. But as a dream job shoot for the moon. I can’t tell you what to aim for because I don’t know what you like but just so know alway shoot high. Almost all analyst position in finance are entry lvl position jobs that are taking by people who just graduated college. It’s a great start but don’t make it your last stop. If you ever get into finance you’ll find more position and fields that are more interesting and higher. Good luck!
@@kinqmav226 I want to be an analyst too, why aim higher if they already make decent money? Unless it was for motivation then nevermind lol
New To your channel. Glad I made it before 300.
Question - why do every gorgeous girls are tall and is out of my league as a short guy 🤣🤣
I believe I recognised the office, we are colleagues 😊
Hi Stella,
I'm David from Nigeria.
I really had fun seeing this video. Searched for your IG page but didn't come across any. If you've got one, maybe should you drop the link here or in your next video. I'd really love to have some Finance related chats with you at intervals. I'm a month plus old in the industry, also a financial analyst for a firm here in Lagos, Nigeria.
Hope to hear from you soon.
Cheers.
Hi David! Thank you for the tip! I plan on getting active on IG soon, when I do I'll definitely leave a link to it in my videos🤗 and that's so cool!! I hope you're enjoying your new job🤩 🥳
@@pearlstella Alright Stella, I will be looking forward to your IG handle.
Yes, I'm enjoying my new job, thank you.
Have fun, cheers.
Hi! I'm from the Philippines and I'm currently studying BS Statistics. I want to pursue a career as a Financial Analyst. Is it easy to get a job as a Financial Analyst?
hi :D I wouldn't say it's easy, but it is definitely possible! Your education sounds super relevant too, so I'm sure you can become a Financial Analyst upon graduating🤗🙌
@@pearlstella Thank you very much! I enjoy watching your videos as it serves as my motivation.
@@pearlstella which degree should a person need if he/ she want to become a financial analyst (in higher position)..does to this job have future scope
@@akashprabha8975 Statistics, Finance, Accounting, Data Analytics, or even a general IT degree. Main focus is too garner experience in the business field and know how businesses work.
you are so fun and cute❤😀 , i really enjoyed watching your video 😀 , i want to be a financial analyst and studying CFA someday
aw that makes me really happy, thank you so much😃 And go for it, I'm sure you can do it!💪🙌🤗
@@pearlstella i hope so thanks😀

coming in finance industry
Hi Pearl
What certificate(s) do I need to become like you
Hi Dami! Thank you!! I personally majored in international business and entrepreneurship in school and then I'm currently studying for CFA level 3. Majoring in finance or economics in university is definitely a great way to set yourself up for success, but there are a TON of other ways too to become a financial analyst! Best of luck 🤗😃🎉
Nice video☺
thank you!!🤗
🤗
As an investment banker analyst i can only dream about the life which you are living that #barbielife like dude i gets only 5 hrs of sleep
mannn that's super tough!! I don't think I could do that consistently 😅 we do have a few folks in my team that started out in IB and now are here, and they definitely appreciate the better work/life balance haha
Hai
Is CFA helps you in getting a job?
Hi Rajat! Yes, in my experience, having passed any of the CFA exams is a great way to make your job application stand out to employers, especially in the investment/financial services industry! If there's a place in particular that you want to work at, looking up people on linkedin that work there and checking whether they are CFAs/studying for the CFA can help you find out how important a CFA is to that employer -- if a lot of the employees are CFAs, it's probably something that employer particularly values. Hope this helps and wish you best of luck with your CFA studies😃🎉
@@pearlstella Thanks a lot for your reply . I will take this into consideration what you have said .
You are doing a great job
@@rajatmutneja5492 happy to help! and thank you so much😃
HI SISTER I NEED YOUR HELP PLEASE REPLY TO ME
Is attractiveness a requirement to be a financial analyst?
haha definitely not a requirement! (also not sure if it was a compliment, but if it was, thank you!!🤗🤗)
@@pearlstella it sure was a compliment haha. Which companies do you think are significantly undervalued right now?
aw thanks!! haha I wish I knew, I personally like Amazon/Shopify/Disney but it really depends on what happens to inflation and interest rates in the next months...
EXCEL? Any company using Excel for any kind of analysis is a company I will NEVER work for.
six figures is a scam 100k and 999K are not the same
Idk how big your firm is but I would be very surprised if HR hasn’t pulled you aside. You’re brave to be playing with fire with posting numbers and charts honestly borderline breaching confidential compliance issues.
She posted basic made up examples. Those weren’t real company data or information
thank you!! And yes exactly, they were examples, I'd never share confidential information
You're so CUTE!
You need to buy some furniture.
You mean a short skirt is a professional dress .
Just attended the onboarding of a renewable energy company as a senior analyst in Boston this January. Wondering if we can connect on LinkedIn?😂 Maybe to share our experience and industry more in-depth. Thanks. Do u have an email to best approach? I can shoot u my info😂😂
