    I would say I'm an ISFJ, but I'm very open to new ideas. Ideas fascinate me. I think there is a stereotype that ISFJs like everything practical, not open to new ideas, very conforming, very routine oriented, and extremeley organized and don't like being spontaneous. Even if you are a person of a certain personality type, it doesn't make you the same as the people of your same type. Our way of being, is also affected by our life experiences, our environment, and what we were taught as children. We are all on a spectrum and different from one other. I am a J type, but I can be very laid back and spontaneous at times. I would say I learned that from my parents. It's just that I prefer or have a preference for being organized and knowing what to expect. I also like following my own heart and not following the crowd. I was taught we should be our own unique selves as a child. We may be under a certain personality type, but it doesn't define your exact person. It gives you a base to how you think and how you can grow. Nice video by the way!😊😊☺☺

    Hey Damon! (Is that too familiar?)... Anyway, this video is old so I'm not even sure you'll see this comment but I just wanted to leave it here on the off chance you might. I just want to tell you how incredibly much this video helped me! I've been interested in Myers-Briggs/Jung for years and have taken and retaken online "tests" a ridiculous amount of times and was settled but yet unsettled that I was an INFJ type. I ain't gonna lie here, one of the first videos I watched of yours you started by saying that you were skeptical of anyone claiming to be an INFJ and I was a little offended. The thing is I only recently started diving deeper into the MBTI typology and learning about the stacks and how the change of a single letter can change the whole cognitive stack. I have always tested out either INFJ or ISFJ, but far more frequently as INFJ. I am a highly imaginative person and I pretty much live in my head (not by choice, it can actually be ridiculously draining, but I digress). Anyway I think this fact more than any other caused me to answer very strongly on intuitive type questions. The thing is, I find myself very imaginative (I am a daydreamer extraordinaire) but not at all creative (is that possible?) as far as thinking is concerned. I am not an original thinker, I'm just not. I can brainstorm and feed off other people and aid in coming to creative solutions, but I am not the one to, at least initially, think outside of the box. I like the box. No, I LOVE the box! There is safety in the box! Lol. So I have been researching like a mad woman bent on self destruction (or self discovery), found you (kinda didn't love you at first as I mentioned), but then found this video. And THIS video, more than any other I have watched, or any other article I have read, helped me understand that I am absolutely 100%, without doubt, a dull, boring ISFJ! I think I have some serious Ni tendencies. Maybe they are just part and parcel of my ISFJ stack as a whole, who knows, but my true way, my go to way, of approaching life in general is all ISFJ. You were right, and although it made me a little sad to let go of some "uniqueness" of that INFJ personality I (more than a little) relate to; I am so thankful to have found your channel. I also just want to thank you for the time and effort you put into helping those like me, searching for my truth. And I promise, even though you got my ire up in the beginning, I never hit the thumbs down button on any of your content, it's just not in my "personality" lol! Anyway, thank you again! ♡ p.s. In true ISFJ fashion I have edited this comment about 5 times for grammar and flow of thought and to make sure it conveyed exactly what I am thinking! Lol.

    About your argument about disliking: It's what the button is there for. To show that you don't like something. I agree that it would be stupid to open a video you know you dislike just to give it a thumbs down. However, if you try to create an environment without dislikes, then the system might as well be removed altogether (which is something I kind of support). It becomes a silly game of "Look at how many people liked my video!". The popularity-whoring that follows it is cancerous. Just create your content, and get satisfaction from the fact that a lot of people really appreciate your work. That some don't is simply how life is.

    SJs get a hard time, as if Si is stupid, but it has its own sense of wonder and depth as poetic as others. I'm mangling the quote but "Don't ever feel lost, for you are the result of the love of thousands" I think well represents the beautiful side to a view of the present always stretching seamlessly behind you as you tread, in new shoes, the footsteps of ancestors and precursors who built what other types might be inclined to take for granted today.

    Very informative yet again, Chad. I watched the whole video and I appreciate the insight. Being an Ni dom, I was always confused when someone asks me, "how does it make you feel?", often times desiring an answer that relate to my past experiences. When they ask this, I've always thought "Feelings? Didn't I just tell you?". My response has always been fixated on a culmination of my ideas and the direction I'd like to get to, and is my true "feelings", but to them it's really not. They/we/I get confused with feelings vs ideas. To me, my ideas ARE my feelings. The action, the goals, the future-oriented ideals I have are a direct gateway into my heart, soul, personality, whatever you want to call it. However most Si types I discuss this with want a direct example that they can relate to and don't seem to fixate themselves on it, as if ignoring everything I say until they hear a direct example. It's not that they are incapable, I just think they are uninterested and the ones I talk to tend to don't really want to hear it and tune it out. And likewise, it's difficult for me to give direct examples, especially if the idea is something new and hasn't been explored yet. I can only make analogies to what it's LIKE, but of course, my direct examples are bad and they get the wrong idea, probably because it would still come across as abstract and very general where it's harder to draw a specific example from. Your video explains why that is, and it makes a lot of sense. I have to work on my communication style and be more wary of how Si types like to receive information, that way I can present my ideas in a more clear manner. Thanks again!

    Correct me if I'm wrong but I read that Introverted Sensors like holding on to tradition and rituals. Examples of this can be Christmas and Thanksgiving holidays. As an INFP whose 10-year old function is the Si function, this isn't as high on my function stack so I can't relate as well to this as some others. However, looking at this from a further distance than some other personality types like ISFJ's and ISTJ's (whose primary function, for example, is Si), I think maybe it is because dominant Si users like to live in the moment (Sensory-Perceptive Function), pay great attention to detail/ are attuned so well to what their senses are telling them, so therefore love great attention to detail, as they are also memory-based so since they have this insane ability to recall similar (or vastly different) events from the past to the current one, or upcoming event, and want to make the current (or upcoming) event to be better than the last.

    I do speak in a tentative manner a lot lol. I used to think i should change that,too.Si would explain why i have a tendency to be nostalgic(combined with Fi).I also understand why i have trouble letting go of things that matter to me personally.Naturally,i haven't conformed to everything around me.I always had a strong desire to be original.
    It's becoming even more clear that i'm leaning towards being an INFP.And indeed,i have been tempting to develop my Si more.

    Very good point with the "want for innovation" from intuitives, but are not always "innovating" but can destroy a way of doing something in an attempt to make it better.

      Screw you man. The world is broken and corrupt. Without innovation, we are stuck with the dysfunction of the present. The idea that things should stay as they are makes me extremely uncomfortable as it's so apparent to me how obviously full of flaws and problems the world is.

      If you truly think that tradition is a problem...
      I encourage you to look into how much challenging tradition has caused problems in the past.
      However, there is a need to innovate. I would have appreciated you giving me the benefit of the doubt. I'm no dumbass. But the issue is, if there are no people to adopt the innovation and integrate it into society then society will fail.
      Innovation empowers tradition.
      But some random dumbass can come along not knowing all the reasons why something is the way it is... And in an attempt to innovate, actually destroy something with years of experience and failure.
      After all those years of failure.. It has been crafted to a beautiful perfection.
      And some random clueless dumbass now wants to change it to something because he thinks it's better?
      This is why education is so important.
      Before attempting to change the way things are, you should know why they are that way.

    wow... doing that reconstruct a memory exercise really drove home how bad I am with Si ...
    First, you said words like build and construct, which triggered a memory about building a birdhouse with my cousins at a local restaurant...I have no idea what I was wearing... I keep imagining wearing exactly what I am right now which is wrong... I have no idea how many people were there, what the wind felt like, what I ordered, what kind of shoes I had back then, how long my hair was... I can only think of what these things might have been 0.0

    I have certain memories but not a lot of them. My memories aren't very detailed either, I can focus on ONE or TWO details but not all of them. When something happens I usually think of a past scenario or moment but not every detail. I mostly remember that it happened, then I visualize, but I don't know EXACTLY the moment. But this association with the past only happens with specific things and events. Like when I NEED to remember something. Or when the situation is SO similar. But sometimes I'll remember events that have no real connection but are more relevant to it symbolically.
    Most often times when I'm doing an action, I'll remember brief snippets of that visually (probably because I can't remember a lot of detail I resort to visualizing past experiences). But whenever I think about the past in depth I feel very uncomfortable. I usually see the really bad things that have happened. I certainly am not stuck in the past though, when that happens I think I get sad and depressive and really shut out. I'm more in my mind thinking about the present moment or near future being different or I do recall past experiences but alter them within my mind to be very, VERY different. Most often with me in the third person view/perspective. I often envision potential future conversations or near past conversations that could've gone differently (but more often the first one.) Also something weird I'll do is take past conversations and alter them so much to what I'd prefer that it almost seems like I'm preparing for them. o_o
    Does that sound more like Ni or Si? I'm really confused between the two because they're so similar and I relate to both.

    Hi there. I'm a tad confused about something after watching this video. I believe I'm an INFJ but I am sentimental and will hold onto objects of sentimental value. I see in this video this is related to Si, which an INFJ shouldn't have.
    I googled it and the only explanation I found(I didn't spent too long looking) was a person who suggested that sensors tend to be more focused on the now(reality) than intuitive types, and so are less likely to hold onto things of sentimental value if they are no longer useful in the present moment, and that NF types in particular are likely to keep objects of sentimental value because of memories related to the object or idealized visions of the future that they associated with the object. I also found a poll in which INFJs were among the types most likely to do this and ISTJS the least likely. (obviously this could be inaccurate due to mistyping, but still interesting) So, I'm just wondering what you think about this theory that NF types would hold onto items of sentimental value.

    • @TrueGenerations
      @TrueGenerations  8 лет назад +5

      Assigning value to an item can go way beyond what it yields in the sensory sense. So, it could just *mean* something, or it could yield nostalgia, or it could be something simply because people have said it is something worth holding on to. Regardless of the case, there isn't anything that is mutually exclusive with other types.
      INFJs have Role-Si, which means, that they have short bursts of this function when presenting it to others.
      Hopefully this helps.

    You perhaps have mentionned this somewhere, or thought about the question, but what about environmental factors? If both my parents are sensors, and I tend to feel more comfortable on the intuitive side, could have I simply adapted to Sensing, while not feeling in my element? I feel like I put myself in another "mental state" when I'm around Si-users, because I feel like this is how you convince them you're not a 'threat' to what they imagine is the stable, safer option for yourself. I'm their daughter, so they took a lot of the decisions for me for a long time, and I feel like I had to repress my own perception (Best guess, for the sake of Fe-dominant).
    I know it's not your job to type people, but I really wonder about this question, which I feel is rooted in Nature v Nurture.
    Perhaps you could share some of your ideas on this?

    • @TrueGenerations
      @TrueGenerations  8 лет назад

      Thank you for your comment. That sounds about right. According to Step II in MBTI, these are called facets, which are characteristics that are displayed of a preference pair. Environmental Factors play a large role in facet development. Your situation sounds about right. You've learned to "stretch" a bit while working around sensing preference people. This is completely normal in type development.
      And yes, it is quite literally my job to type people.

      Personality Indicators and systems like MBTI area meant to understand and dive into human understanding from a place of curiosity and understanding. there is a surplus amount of ways you can use mbti, asking why we would use these systems is like asking why you would want to study new energy recourses, or understanding other theories. I think you should ask yourself why you yourself would want to know type systems and the place they have in your life.-Daniel

    hi, i have constructive criticism.
    im an estp who perscribes to csj, but i enjoy hearing about this from a different brand as well. (context)
    pacing: you prefer to get the information out there asap and then rely on a description to elaborate. it comes off imbalanced. i would recommend you focus more on the dictation of a rationale, speaking slowly and emphasizing the statement more clearly. then once you have dictated the statement, maybe even twice, then give a brief pause to elaborate a little. it seems you rely on the elaboration while haphazardly throwing out the content. but your original statement/data point IS the content. like a meal, digestion comes after eating. we would like to savor the taste, but it feels like im swallowing a bunch of air while you are shoveling the bite down my throat.
    but like all Te leads you speak very well and concise, having prepaired the information adequately enough. i just recommend you emphasize different aspects of what you are trying to say with more impactful pacing, kinda like a performance. an example of this kind of pacing is demonstrated well by mike mentzer, a former bodybuilder from the 70s and eighties. id say he is a little monotone and boring in dictation, but his pacing is a bit of an exagerated example of the sensation im speaking of. you can find clips and stuff of his on the channel "john little"

    Youre so judgmental on certain aspects. refraining from tradition is how new things begin. Traditional is sometimes good but sometimes it is not. refusing to be traditional is that act of having an overdeveloped Ne and when you have an overdeveloped N function its natural to have an underdeveloped S function not for everyone but in the developmental path that just makes sense to how one grows up.

    ... That’s a thing?! You can certify in MBTI?! ... 😶😶🤩 you mean we can go further than hoarding books from the library and seeking RUclips videos the way Gollum seeks his precious? How? Where?

    8 minutes before you start talking about what this video is supposed to be about. Get to the point already.

      @@TrueGenerations 8 minutes?

    • @TrueGenerations
      @TrueGenerations  5 лет назад

      Yes. I made these videos on a whim years ago. They are not professional productions nor were they designed to provide you entertainment. Use the skip forward if you don’t like the content. Or don’t watch it. I didn’t force you to sit through 8 minutes. I felt like ranting about some stupid shit in the beginning of the video and that is exactly what I did. What do you want me to do about it now (years later?) Answer - just skip forward and we can both go about our days.
