I wonder how big the planets are, no land vehicles would mean you don't want to explore to far from your ship and if you can't fly around the planet or land at different spots, i hope they are not huge.
You can land on any surface of a planet when you land you get massive chunk of land to explore then you can walk or fast travel back to your ship and you can choose another location to land in. You can't just walk around the entire planet but the area you can walk around is going to be huge so you won't feel like your just exploring little area and then loading a new location. If you watch the Direct you can get a sense of how large the area will be when they select a spot to land in the marker goes to the center of the location and it highlights a bigger circle around the marker in the center that's your exploring parameters.
@@overheatedeskim054 Ill have to watch that again as i must of missed that, glad you get to go to different parts, guess it will be more detailed if they are doing it that way, thank you

I want to build a base for each planet that has a different mineral/currency so I can be rich and not ever run out of whatever currency I need when I need it. I honestly don't know what build I will go with simply because we don't know to much about it. Also can't wait to see how smart the npc's will be and how story driven they will be. I'm excited for all these reasons. I will still wait for reviews before playing the game. If there is one clear thing the gaming industry has taught us its always wait and don't take anything for face value. Nonetheless I'm still (hoping) the game will be great
Modders, i need the quality level on all humans brought up by about 1000%, and the flat trees on new atlantis fixed. Then we'll be in business. Hoping bethesda has this scale well above the console version, especially as they want to see this played for the next decade. The AMD partnership better not mean theyre leaving out dlss. The internet is already on fire about that. Microsoft and bethesda are relying on this game very heavily. Theyve delayed it enough to where it really needs to swing for the fences. We can handle bugs on PC, but lack of feaures/options is not ok
We still don't know how procedural generated planets will work. Some think the planets were procedurally generated beforehand and points of interest generate in game. You could walk around a planet and points of interest will generate around you. A game like that would probably be a terabyte I size... I think it's 1 km tiles that are stitched together around your landing area. Not whole planets. It will probably have to despawn when you leave, or you'll need another terabyte for your save file. It might be saved as a procedural number, we'll have to wait and see. It might generate around your character as you walk farther, but at a certain point, terrain will be repetitive. I'm excited for this game, but I hope hype is in check
Well, hopefully you’ve realized you’re wrong. It’s been stated by the devs that the planet is generated when you arrive. POIs are placed at the same time. From that moment, the planet is set and will not change procedurally again. In addition, once landed the player is free to explore however they choose without limitation. The planet is a set map at that time and thus memory isn’t a factor as each planet is essentially an entirely separate instance much like changing maps in any other rpg such as the Witcher 3. This won’t drastically increase the file size of the game from any other large rpg. Finally, the player won’t be limited to shallow exploration limits around their ship. There are plenty of screenshots from the gameplay showcases showing the large distances a player is from their ship when on a planet. This direct refutes the absurd claims of ignorance being made spouting some asinine 1km x 1km tile of map limitation per landing site. As a second aside to show its ridiculousness, we have had games for generations with single instance maps of much larger size within large rpg games. A great example would be the map of Blackreach within Skyrim where the size of Blackreach as a separate travel instance is already well over 3x the size of this supposed 1km/1km map barrier.
@@sostrongineedmoreofyourmon974Agreed. I have no idea why some people are saying you can only explore the area around your ship. Which would be stupid. People are misinterpreting what todd said. You set a marker on the planet it highlight bigger circle around the marker and that's the area you can explore which each section is probably the size of fallout once you've explored that section you can choose another section next to it and explore that area. You can do that with every part of the land on a planet.
So todd explained this in an interview. You can pick a landing spot and explore the whole planet from there, that includes walking around the planet and coming back at the same place.
