Knowing how James treated Jason you know he didn’t say he was “too good”. He was more or so criticized for his taste and I’m pretty sure he showed up with a blonde Mohawk, green tennis shoes, mix matched socks, etc. He was Kirks friend in HS and I’m pretty sure James thought the whole thing was a big joke and never called him back.

It was pretty cool seeing you get so fired up about this performance. The groove of this song is so crazy. Les Claypool is undeniable on bass, but holy shit does the drummer go off. Why doesn’t anyone else drum like that? It’s also worth noting how confident Les Claypool has to be to deliver such a weird vocal performance with so much conviction and swagger, and how amazing it is to deliver something like that while playing the bass guitar like you invented it.

Everybody talks about Les Claypool, and they totally should. But Larry LaLonde is also awesome, and they have been through a few drummers, all of them VERY good. The three of them can play anything. Even country. Well, kinda country. They did cover The Devil Went Down to Georgia (albeit with the original Charlie Daniels fiddle) for a video after all. It's quite good. LaLonde played a banjo instead of his usual guitar.

Well I remember it as though it were a meal ago
Said Tommy the Cat as he reeled back to clear whatever foreign matter may have nestled its way into his mighty throat. Many a fat alley rat had met its demise while staring point blank down the cavernous barrel of this awesome prowling machine. Truly a wonder of nature this urban predator. Tommy the cat had many a story to tell, but it was a rare occasion such as this that he did
She came a'sliding on down the alleyway like butter drippin' off a hot Biscuit. The aroma, the mean scent, was enough to arouse suspicion in even the oldest of Tigers that hung around the hot spot in those days. The sight was beyond belief. Many a head snapped for double even triple, takes as this vivacious feline made her way into the delta of the alleyway where the most virile of the young tabbys were known to hang out. They hung out in droves. Such a multitude of masculinity could only be found in one place... and that was O'malley's Alley.
The air was thick with cat calls (no pun intended) But not even a muscle in her neck did twitch as she sauntered straight to behind the alleyway. She knew what she wanted. She was looking for that stud bull. She was looking for that He-cat. And that was me. Tommy the Cat is my name and I say unto thee:
Say baby do you wanna lay down by me?
Say baby do you wanna lay down by my side?
Ah baby do you wanna lay down with me?
    Say baby
    Say baby
Say baby do you wanna lay down with me?
Say baby do you wanna lay down by my side?
Ah baby do you wanna lay down with me?
    Say b-b-b-b-b-b-b-baby
Say baby do you wanna lay down with me?
Say baby do you wanna lay down by my side?
Ah baby do you wanna lay down with me?

When I said not to focus too much on the weirdness, I didn't mean to completely ignore the lyrics because while they do have some silly songs you shouldn't miss out on what's being said. I'm not sure if you saw that comment or not, but I tried telling you to take in the songs as a whole so don't ignore the lyrics. For example a song like American Life has a funky bassline, which I'm sure is all that some people will focus on, but the lyrics are pretty deep as well and you should know them as you listen. With that said, I think that would be a good song to listen to next just so you don't get the impression that all their songs are weird or silly. Too Many Puppies would be good too for it's message. They have a lot of songs with a message in the lyrics, and you shouldn't miss it.
If there's one big issue I've noticed with a lot of your music reactions, it's that you don't seem to look up lyrics as you listen. it's cool that you try and listen for yourself, but lyrics can be just as important if not more so than the instrumentation and I feel you miss out on too much. So just a friendly tip, try checking out lyrics for the songs as you listen. I'm sure people watching will appreciate it more if you have the lyrics ready so you can follow along, especially die hard fans because they might get angry if you don't know what's being said in a song lol.

Was it me or was he only using a 4 string bass in this video, but he used a 6 string on the original recording and video?

Let me tell you bro...I'm a former battle rapper...lyrics are everything to me. Primus is one of the best bands ever because of their chemistry, weirdness, angles and abstract lyrics. It definitely isn't something you'd catch on the first few watches. Research is everything. Always dissect the lyrics to digest the substance and material.

LOL! Your face during the opening verse...yeah, don’t feel bad. Trust me it’s universal. But NOBODY does the bass like Les! Nobody!

I recommend watching the video, Les sings slower and it makes more sense of the song, would love to see you react to Defy the Laws of Tradition Radio Jam version, it has a younger Les Claypool going hard on the bass, and if you want to see the best collaboration, check out his jams with buckethead

You'd definitely dig his "solo" vids...the collab with Buckethead is NASTY! Les is the epitome of why I try my best to stay the hell away from any "who's best?" or "who's #1" type of things when it comes to music. Such "blanket" statements just don't work when it comes to music. There's simply too many different flavors. That's like asking some people in a bar what the "best" beer in the world is... Sports, music, politics, and religion are surefire things that end up just pissing people off lol...cause you to lose sleep and second-guess yourself for weeks lol. I think most of us would subscribe to the fact that we music fans arguably, are the most "fickle" on earth lol. But, the "Mumble Crap" reference was funny as hell...and, Primus is definitely an acquired taste. Check out the vid for this one. You'll understand it better. You'd probably dig "Those Damn Blue Collar Tweakers," or "Lacquer Head." I'd guess that'd it be more to your liking.

Yooooo why, trust me on this. Listen to korn. Korn is a band from Bakersfield California and has an LA and Bakersfield origin. They’re very good, you’ll like them . Not as much as some bomb Primus.

Think of it this way, the lyrics aren't meant to be understood or interpreted (usually). Its just another instrument making sounds that add to the groove that make you move wether you want to or not.

It would have helped if you would have watched the actual video for this my guy. The studio version would definitely be easier to understand. And IMO a better version.

But if you gave me the chance to request a reaction, as a DIE HARD Primus fan, I would request you to react to...Primus "Lacquer Head." The official video. The lyrics are pretty clear to hear during the actual song. Primus is amazing!
