I didn't check that but I have used the Airbuds 2S and it has sound quality close to freepods 3. The old Airbuds 2 is has somedraws if you are comparing it to freepods 3. Not even the new Airbuds 3.

Try this. Restore the watch to factory settings and reboot phone. Then, connect and set up the notification setting.
