- The World Bank has today pledged $20 million in aid to the government of St Vincent and the Grenadines, where at least 7,000 people have been forced to flee their homes following a series of volcanic eruptions, the latest just hours ago. (Subscribe: bit.ly/C4_News_Subscribe)
Authorities there say the island of St Vincent is now running out of clean water. Kenton Chance has been to Georgetown inside the red zone, an area close to the volcano that's been evacuated.

One video just showed that villagers found a spring coming up from the ground and it was as clear as crystal. They were filling bottles to carry back for other people

As a person in Construction some advice given is that most roofs will collapse when the supoorts are far apart to support any weight.

If you are there why wouldn't you just leave and go somewhere else? I would not want to be on a tiny island that has a volcano exploding....... and then to run out of water, book a boat trip and get out. Where you got your information that a man died of ashes in his home? There has been no fatalities as a result of the eruptions. We hope and pray it remains that way.

After Mt St Helen blew and things cooled off, someone out there in Washington state made money off of taking the volcanic ash and figured out how to make glass out of it and made hand blown Christmas ornaments ...... my brother lives in Seattle and he sent us a set of the ornaments.

@my tablet They have bottled water for drinking ...Nearby islands have also been sending them water. Some sections of the island do get a daily limited supply of water through their pipelines. Their rivers do exist.
