  • Partap Sharma was an Indian playwright, novelist, author of books for children, commentator, actor and documentary filmmaker. Known as the Golden Voice of India for his speaking voice, Partap suffered from emphysema in the latter part of his life, but that did not stop him from constantly creating and reinventing. While on 24-hour oxygen, he did dramatic readings of 3 Shakespeare plays in what became the Golden Voice Series, ICU Entertainment from Indo Studio. This is his reading of The Merchant of Venice in 2007. All characters in his own voice. And below are some reviews.
"The recording has an amazing range of voice - without break for changing from one character to another. Partap Sharma, the Golden Voice of India..." - Hindustan Times
"Shakespeare comes alive loud and clear. Partap's is among the most marvellous voices in not just India but the world. This recording of one man speaking in so many accents will be a staple for young students." - The Times of India.
Having passed on over ten years ago, Partap's legacy lives on, and as his Grandchildren now study Shakespeare at school, it is wonderful that they are able to hear their Naana's reading. And of course all their friends and everyone! So do listen, share and enjoy.
