This was the very first warrior map I came across, and it was before I even knew this was from warrior or that these were even cats. It’s been 3 years now, and I recently started reading warriors. I finally figured out after lots of wiki searching who Maple’Shade was and wtf was actually happening in this map. When I was 10 and this first came out, I also made my first digital art making fan art for Maple’Shade. This map is always a thing I will treasure dearly in my heart as a great childhood memory.

I hate Appledusk! He betrayed Mappleshade, he didn't even care what his DEAD kittens were called! He put all the blame on Mappleshade for their relationship and made a sacrifice of himself just to stay in the RiverClan: "Oh look how poor I am, my kittens are dead please let me stay in the clan!" Is this how a normal partner behaves? Is this How a normal father behaves? Mappleshade had every right to take revenge, she was betrayed by everyone she loved, her kittens drowned ... Do I have to add anything else?
Welp I gotta be honest here for a cat like Mapleshade to target her ex’s wife instead says a lil about her relationship with Appledusk. She complains that Reedshine never lets him do anything himself and even yowls that he’s hers before Appledusk has been killed by her claws. Yet again, I don’t think Appledusk expected Mapleshade to have her kittens cross the river again, ESPECIALLY in a gosh darn flash flood. He was very surprised when she said she had them cross. She perhaps took his words literally but she still ignored Milkfur’s words about how the kittens would drown. Appledusk apologized because he also pretty much hid the truth of dating a cat from another clan, unlike Mapleshade who doesn’t take any blame and will force it onto someone else. Like what she did when her kittens drowned she blamed the river and Frecklewish after she heard, according to Nettlepaw, what happened when we have no idea if it’s the truth. It was a good thing he came clean with his clan, who knows what’ll happen if those kits had survived. I bet Mapleshade still would I’ve plotted to harm Reedshine. Appledusk did feel bad for his kits perhaps, their mother had them cross a raging river and they were yelled at and he had no idea that they were. The kits being attacked by Freckle were in ThunderClan camp, how could he further question it if Mapleshade hadn’t even told him what happened while she was being exiled? The kit’s deaths are not his fault, no one told Maple to cross the river. Why bring the kits being yelled at into this?? He for real had no idea once so ever. He doesn’t know what happened while she was raising them AT ALL. My feelings on Apple are mixed but after reading the book myself, he did little to no harm besides cheat on a cat, taking his pregnant mate out of camp, and accidentally killing two cats using the river. The only harm he did to Mapleshade was cheating on her which I guess was the best move? Even though he could’ve just told her. She probably wouldn’t let him escape her even if he tried to reason with her about a breakup, or maybe she’d be fed up with it forever as she still is at the moment. Though honestly I wish he had broken up with Mapleshade privately instead of publicly like dude-why cheat on her with another she-cat without telling her? Without telling either of the women he’s dating that he’s dating another gal? But eh, guess it was because he still loved her or something but if thats the case why is he dating Reedshine? Is he-in love with two people and didn’t tell Mapleshade about it? I-you know what fuck it, he cheated on her. Man when you think about it, Appledusk doesn’t make any sense, what a silly idiot lol Just be happy that he saved Mapleshade’s AND Reedshine’s lives. And no, he could not save those kits in 5 seconds, it was a flash flood. Mapleshade doesn’t know anything about being a RiverClan cat or the river.
Finally a slightly accurate map to the book itself. I’m so glad that they included the scene where Mapleshade digs out Ravenwings body to rot and get eaten by crows.👌🏻
