News flash Bow Wow, in the early 1900s (and even some people today believe this) if you're even 1/8th black the government still considered you black. That's how deep some prejudice goes. You would have been lumped in with all the other "negroes."
Even if you were mixed Bow Wow (which you aren't) you can still talk about racial issues. Jesse Williams sure does. There are even many white people who are allies and see the injustices that are put on blacks.

Actually there are plenty of brownskin people with seemingly African features who are indeed more Indian. My friend is full blooded lumbee and has more African like features than me and I'm mostly black. The original Indians were darkskin brown people with wide noses just like Africans. With that being said that doesn't excused Bow Wow's statement at all! Having family members of European,Native American, and AFRICAN decent myself I would never say this bullshit! I agree in part as my native family have dark red clay brown skin, broad noses and if their hair wasn't dead straight people could think they were of African decent, but most Americans don't know that not all "black" people are from Africa, there are black people with kinky hair from Asia, Papua, islands in the Indian Ocean & Australasia natives their hair is from straight to kinky with broad features and dark skin, the list goes on. I used to have a Vietnamese roommate that swore up and down people always mistook her for Korean. But my Korean friends would laugh at her behind her back about how ridiculous she was. I met a bunch of Filipinoes who claimed to have black in them simply because that's what they considered to be popular. Filipinoes will claim to be mixed with ANYTHING under the sun to detach themselves from being just them. I live in Asia and if these Filipino women get them a Japanese man they will have their kids walking around thinking that they are 100% Japanese.Their kids won't speak Tagalog, will have traditional Japanese names, but will stick out like a sore thumb. But it's ironic how the Chinese and Korean women PROUDLY let people know what's up and their children too.

Many times when you live in a country and one of your parents (or grandparents) isn't from there, it's not so uncommon to hide or downplay that fact. It's a shame but it happens a lot.
Just to use myself as an example from when I was a child... My parents come from two different countries. One side of my family is larger and more involved. When hanging out with my cousins from that family, I didn't want to feel I'm different from them, so it was easy for me to deny my other half. It's easier than having to keep explaining to everyone that you're different.
