The good news is that the MX-450 is a great remote...the bad news is that you typically need an A/V professional to program it. I think this is about the best video I've seen on programming this remote.
Do you know if this MX 450 is compatible with Amazon fire stick? If not do you have a know of another remote that looks similar to this that is compatible.. any advice would be greatly appreciated. I had this remote in the past and I loved it.
HI... The Firestick is controlled via the Amazon remote which is bluetooth or RF.. Universal remotes send out an IR signal. However, the Fire Stick can be controlled via the TVs HDMI CEC. Most TVs have this capability, but not all. So to answer your question, if your TV is HDMI-CEC compatible, then yes it will work, but the remote isn't controlling the fire stick directly. Here's a video I did on this a while back: ruclips.net/video/MndLcR5FfT4/видео.html
@@JLPicard440 thank you for the reply I really appreciate it. I don't know if my LG TV is HDMI-CEC compatible. My model number is 86UQ9050PSC, if there's any way you can look it up and let me know that would be much appreciated, I know the TV is only 6 months old. I live outside the United States and calling the United from Mexico is a nightmare coupled with the fact I'm not tech savvy at all. If there's any way you can let me know so I can order this remote that would be awesome?
HI James... LG Calls this feature SIMPLINK. If you look through your menu, look for something called that. It won't be under picture/ color controls or in that area... It's easier to do it on the TV in the menu.
@@JLPicard440 I checked and unfortunately it doesn't have that feature. Is there any other remote that looks similar that you could think of that would be compatible?
Hi, boy would I like you to do more of these videos, I may not sound to bright but I've been watching this video over and over again trying to figure out how to run this REALLY nice remote. I just wish it had a Harmony like setup. I've must have gone through 20 pages of paper trying to write down what you are saying and use it to write down my setup. My setup is not very big, it consists of a Sony XBR-65X900F, a Sony STR-DN1080 A/V receiver and lastly a ARRIS VIP5662W DVR 4K. I also have a Xbox SX and a Sony PS5 which I have to figure how to set them up to turn on (which I think you can't do) and use them like an activity on the LCD screen. If you can do short setups of how to's of setting up activity's /Macros a little more in depth would be AWSOME. I have been able to add on the devices i.e a/v, tv and dvr, so if I push their adjacent button it shows the buttons of their respective remotes. I've watched how you do the setups for a activity but I don't seem to get them right i.e press "watch tv" (power on a/v - tv - dvr and their inputs/outputs. The only thing I've been able to turn on as a activity (watch tv) is the a/v receiver. Well sorry for the long questions, but I hope you are able to respond and maybe give me a nudge in the right direction. Thank you Greg, Montreal, Canada
HI Greg... Thanks for the question. So to understand better are you saying you've got your devices working, but you want to know how to do macros? I don't remember if I covered macros in this video? If not, you're right, it might be a good idea to do a video on just that. I'd have to go back and watch the video to refresh myself on what I covered.
@@JLPicard440 Hi again, sorry but I think I'm not explaining myself well. I have followed your video step by step but I guess I'm missing something, I have added my three devices ( Sony AVR / XBR-65X900F / Arris VIP5662W) and when I'm on the main screen and push there adjacent buttons I see the correct commands for each device. I've also setup four activities (macros) how you said and that there is nothing behind those pictures (Watch TV / Watch NetFlix / Play PS5 / Play Xbox SX). Oh and I had to teach (learn) those three remotes to the MX-450. So I go to copy & paste and try the groups and do what you say but I don't know if they worked. I think the problem is that the four activities have no commands behind them, I've gone to the macros "test / edit existing macros" and I press the four activities and I get nothing, also I press the on / off buttons and my three devices and also get nothing. So all I'm trying to do is to get the four activities (macros) working and I am stumped. I have the MX-450 programming guide and I try to follow along with you and the guide. As you said, I start with my four activities on the first page of the 450 then the last three devices on the three buttons after. Copy & paste, not sure if I did it right, then one-touch activities (macros) as you said and I must be missing something because I press watch tv and nothing happens. I hope I'm not overstepping, I'm just trying to get this expensive remote to work (Canadian dollars) and it looks like to me you are the only one that has showed how to program it, trust me my fingers are sore from Googling "how to setup MX-450". Well, again sorry for the long email and I hope you get back to me, I'll keep trying while I wait. Thank you Greg Montreal,Canada
Hi, sorry again but I'm just wondering how the sequence would go. I will show you what I'm thinking. As you said, I did my four empty activities on the first four hard buttons (Watch tv - Watch NetFlix - Play PS5 - Play Xbox SX. Then I taught the 450 my three remotes for my three devices (DVR - AV Receiver - Sony tv). So I'm wondering how do I begin to make the 450 work, so I have the four empty activities then I have my three devices that have the commands entered. I'm not sure where to start, how do I learn to start powering on and off my activities. Do I use the hard power on power off buttons or am I able to press "watch tv" and the devices all power on and switch to the correct inputs or outputs. As I said before, I really hope I'm not over stepping. Thanks again Greg Montreal, Canada
@@GregJones-kt1zr You're not over stepping.. 😀. Without reading the book for a while, I don't know off the top of my head how to setup a macro... Will this remote work for a BEFREE SOUND5.1-Channel Surround Sound Bluetooth Speaker System in Black
Probably. Unless that system is RF only. For example some Bose systems are RF and some are IR.

Sideways?
