This is why people hated it as a mobile game in the first place; the fact that mobile games tend to have lots of ridiculous pay-for-advantage microtransaction monetization. They should have known that and reacted accordingly instead of adding the PC port. Although maybe they're aware that many people hate pay-to-win but just wanted to try it anyway to see how much money they'll get, since lots of other people are ignorant or don't mind the pay-to-win aspect.
I love how the game barely gives a F2P person enough resources to upgrade gear and gems unless you grind for years, while simultaneously reminding you via the rewards screen that the condition of your gear upgrades and gem upgrades are "poor". They literally call it poor. Talk about subliminal shots taken.
Rich people are getting more rich, prices are rising and poor people Vice versa . In Reallife WE could Charge rich people with % paying, Run over a Red Light ? 500.000 $ You will See the difference
Lies man. Do you even play the game? Lvl 41 and earned everything playing the story and running dungeons. It's laid out so easy for you. And the only stuff you can really buy is legendary crests, and currency to buy gems from the marketplace. You can still get whipped by a ftp player that actually understands the game and doesn't swipe
In the fiscal year 2022 (March 2021 to April 2022), gaming publisher Electronic Arts generated approximately 3.91 billion U.S. dollars in revenues from extra content sales with almost half of it being associated with the company's sports games Ultimate Team mode as well as extra content for the Apex Legends franchise.
Don't you mean Activision since they bought that company this reads Activision all over it and only going to get worse now that M$ is going to own them
Everyone genuinely needs to just stop giving those awful games with predatory monetisation tactics any second of their time as well as any dime. This video is fine as it is intended to show how absolutely horrible they are, but hopefully there shouldn't be any more traction than that.
It's okay, the blizzard fanboys will continue to shovel blizzards dick down their throat and give them more and more money while also complaining about it at the same time.
It won't happen, and Blizzard will gain money from this game just as intended. If people have a shred of willingness to do what you said, all the p2w games would have died out decades ago.

Seeing Blizzard's ethos through this game makes me actually hate the company. It's not even a game, it's tool that convinces unhappy people to waste their money. Game companies must have psychological data on the people that play their games, and realised that they can easily take advantage of their mental illnesses.

@ Humm not sure if you are trying to argue that spending 20 $ to get that is the same as waiting 4 months to get 10 legendary crests and then do a single run. Getting 6 or 7 legendarys in 4 months vs in 3 minutes is pretty pay to win to me.

The biggest problem with monetizing games in my opp is that it makes grinding feel like a bad experience when it may otherwise feel fine or even good. Pay to skip or pay to progress faster makes one feel like they're playing the free to play version of a game they paid 60 bucks and a subscription for already. Its kind of insane imo
actually the best take on why p2w makes games bad. I can think of so many grindy games that make progress feel fun but the same amount of grind with the constant reminders that you could be doing it all faster if you paid make a game so tiresome, often because devs are incentivised to make the grind more boring so you want to skip it
@@wormengine i never liked playing diablo as i find TQ and GD more fun even the grinding part. About grinding and mtx, warframe is a game that you can pay2skip but the grind is not boring. @@wormengine That's what I actually like about games like genshin. You can't really pay to skip grinding. You have to grind a bit in the game, and what you pay for is really only the ability to pull for 5 stars more often in banners if you are not a crazy whale that try to get high constellations. But the power is not that much higher for a huge cost, and it is obvious if someone has done it.
I'm fairly positive every executive from Activision-Blizzard could go out on the street and punch a kid in the face and people would still defend them and play their games. I find that actually amazing
I wouldent, but i still play there games, however its only D2 and WoW wich im playing, maybe hearthstone sometimes but i never payed anything for that, im only doing shit like battlegrounds on it
Nobody gives a frick, they could punch as many kids as they want. As long as the game is great then everyone would play it anyway because real life isn't Twitter and their behaviour doesn't invalidate their product. Obviously that's not the case when it comes to Diablo Immoral but in general if this was to happen then nobody would care.
As a person who has too much self respect and not enough money to waste I enjoy that asmon did the whale stream of Diablo immortal if only because of things like this comparison between f2p and p2w
Same. There was actually a chance that I might have played Diablo immortal just to see what it was like if Asmon didn't do this. Now there's literally no chance LOL
There is also the argument that kids will go play the game BECAUSE he streams it. He makes it look fun while he is overpowered, and kids being kids don't know the value of money and therefore can (and will) pay to win the game.
@@bok4822 I understand your argument but I disagree with it fundamentally. If kids play the game without paying money and enjoy it, so be it. But if they start swiping the responsibility rests on their parents.
@@l-dog It is not responsible adults we are talking about though, it's kids. Kids are not rational, and if given the opportunity they will spend money to feel more powerful and cooler than their friends. And companies are exploiting this tendency, including getting money through whales. And some parents really neglect their children, rendering the option of blaming them pointless as it will still do nothing about the parents and what companies do. Why not exploit kids when there is nothing to stop you? Your logic, although I understand it, is flawed. There is a reason after all that gambling is getting banned in some areas, as even adults get addicted to it. How easy is it not for kids to do the same, especially when their parents neglect them?
everyone talking about how much money is spent on the game and how much pay to win is but no one mentions that if blizzard sees they are making a lot of money they may end up doing the same with Diablo 4 and that worries me.
Yeah, i've said almost the same thing. If they do a comparison on profits between diablo 3 and diablo immortal (if it succeeds) then that would mean that budget and developers would be moved from diablo4/5 teams and put into the "next gen" mobile cashprinting games instead. If players embrace this bullshit then activision will, as always, follow the money and dump whatever doesn't generate as much income.
Hat of to you sir for taking this up. My fear is that DI is just sort of a *beta* for how well p2w would work in blizzard games. And since it has done pretty well they certainly will proceed with the same p2w style in their other games (including the bigger one WoW, D4, OW2.
i love the diablo series. its a such a shame really if this wasnt pay to win and it had micro transactions like a battle pass or poe only. i think it may have been pretty popular
what u mean pay to win? what u win? u can do ABSOLUTELY EVERYTHING in game for free, why u would care about being top in rankings? is that winning? it really is meaningless, u can do EVERYTHING in game for free
This is just a worse issue than loot boxes - this is just paying money, time to complete rift for random loot but they seemed to have included "skill" to complete rift to try to cancel the lottery laws.
exactly it's a loot box with extra steps. the rng is still there, the spending money is still there. the only added bonus is it takes time to complete and you can lose. XD If you get perfect rng it will take around $50k to min max a character. if you have bad luck it can take you $500k.
I like paying for some cosmetic stuff but most things should be rewarded for long time players and experience.. I think most games do this alright but can still be overpriced!

I really wish MMORPG's monetization was just all cosmetics, they'd make a ton of money still, but wouldn't impact the core game very much. That's how almost all shooter games are, and they're all rich. Fortnite, Valorant, CoD, make sweet gun skins and player skins but don't fuck with the actual gameplay. Even PoE (a game more successful than diablo immortal will be) does this for the most part. They have increased bank space to buy, but that's it, everything else is cosmetics.

Something which looks like a filler to Diablo 4 but yet is the newest game in their Blizzard Launcher repertoire. A filler that should be raising hope for the believers and pull the brakes on their downhill course. I don't think any AAA Studio (if you still can call them that) ever released something like this in Europe and America. Not that it's just an insane step towards P2W but they also just shot themselves in the knee. Unless the player base is really that desperate to give up on their "old" game studio and look for something new. I'm actually kinda afraid the average hobo will continue supporting blizzard.
I took a arrow to the knee...
61% of actiblizz profits in 2021 came from MTX that is tune of billions. The mobile game market in 2021 made over 116 billion. How is this not smart on the part of ActiBlizz?
