Baby Orangutan Hillda Meets Dad Orangutan Puluh
This Video features an adorable family of Sumatran Orangutans including Mum Emma, Dad Puluh and Baby Orangutan Hilda. Zoo born Hillda was born in 2021 to experience mum Emma at Chester Zoo her names means 'Sister In Arms' in Indonesian. Her Mum Emma has had other offspring with Male Orangutan Puluh including female Orangutan toddler Kesuma, who also lives with the family at the Zoo

Sumatran Orangutans are Endangered
Sumatran Orangutans are an endangered species of Great Ape, threatened to the edge of extinction, due to the ongoing destruction of the Environment in their native homeland of The Indonesian Island of Sumatra. The destruction of their native forests is largely to make way for the planting of palm oil, which is used in the manufacture of many products in developed nations, such as food products and cleaning products.
Baby Orangutans at Chester Zoo
Chester Zoo is the only Zoo in the UK to House and Care for Sumatran Orangutans. They are part of the breeding program for this important and vulnerable species, ensuring there is a strong genic population in zoos and wildlife centres across the world, essential for the future survival of these magnificent animals.
These rare Sumatran Baby Orangutans are absolutely adorable and so much fun to watch, Young Sumatran Orangutans interact with each other and learn from the behaviours of other Orangutans in their Family group.
