I have spent much time in prescott and with my amazing hiking dog , accidentally found the crash site one day. I love accidentally discovering something that i never knew about. If you are able to , go somewhere/go on a hike before researching it. There are so many interesting sites around prescott . The peavine trail, a hidden pet cemetery near a trail, an abandoned stretch of the old 89 , etc etc
My father was supposed to be on that plane which took off from Coronado Naval Air station. He was held back for some reason by a commanding officer and I owe that C.O. my life for being able to live today.
My father was good friends with Ted Rivenburg one of the pilots of the aircraft. I remember the day that happened, my dad called and had my mom go to there house to be with Mrs Rivenberg, it was a sad confusing day, I remember as a kid. My dad and Mr Rivenberg both flew Super Connie’s out of Moffett Field Naval Air Station with VR-7
We have several downed WW2 planes in northern New England; one I know of where the fuselage is mostly intact. It's in a heavily wooded area, which made rescue extremely difficult at the time. People still hike up the, altho there is no discernable trail. Thank you for such a detailed and scenic trip on the Constellation Trail. Your respect for those killed in the crash was very touching, and the information was moving. I'm new to your channel, and I look forward to many adventures with you folks!
Thank you so much! We hope that we don't disappoint. 😄 An intact plane must be really eerie to see, especially in a heavily wooded area! Man, would love to see that!
I just watched your constellation trail video and really enjoyed it. I was thinking there was going to be more remnants of the plane but very nice hike.
I imagine there was once more wreckage, however, I also have to imagine that some has "disappeared" from the site over time. That and given the speed and angle of the crash, it would be hard for much to really be left whole. Thanks for watching! 😊
Thanks for the confirmation. We were pretty sure about it but haven't recognized one out here before. And yes, the rocks are pretty magical. The way they just rise out of seemingly nowhere... 🤩
@@CactusAtlas My cousin lives in Prescott and the beauty of the trails are totally lost on her. She said she tried hiking one time and never did it again. SMH. I dream about hiking.
Really cool hike. I love hiking through that sort of terrain too. Its so much more fun than just a normal trail. Crazy to see so much wreckage there too.
It's super immersive with the rocks, right? And your recent video on the plane crash in Cuyamaca Ranch State Park came out around the time I was done editing this video. It was really interesting to compare the monuments - this being just an odd collection of metal scraps from it.
What a beautiful park 😀 I wonder if that pilot few into the side on the mountain. That happens to often. If some how they set your altimeter wrong you could totally be lower then you thought.
Thank you……beautiful area…..and appreciate the information you provided about aviation tragedy….close to my heart….as I recently retired from the airlines.
Wow, that was great, don't know how many times we drove through the Dells when we lived in PV and never knew about that story. Now that the video is done I feel sad that we didn't get a brief Amy history lesson...next time!
Glad you enjoyed it! And yes, I've taken a bit of a backseat in history research and narration. Hahah! A number of videos are more of Glenn's idea and this was one of them. I hadn't heard about the plane crash until he went out to the Pima Air & Space Museum and honestly... still didn't know much about the event. 😅
I don’t know if you have any control over the ads played during your videos, but the Hulu ad is quite disgusting if not pointless. Hope you can put a stop to it. Great video but we will not watch your channel until the ads improve
those were cool old planes, nice hike too
Nice to see you focused a great deal on the Aircraft and it’s Crew 🇺🇸 Nicely done
Thanks 👍
Love your videos Glen!
Thanks! We're glad that you enjoy our work. 😄

Discovering things without research is one of the greatest feelings. 👍

Whoa. What a close call! I cannot even begin to fathom what your father much have felt that day. 😲
Good tour my friend👍👏👍
Thank you very much! 😊
Beautiful! Thanks for sharing.
Thank you! You are so welcome! 😊
Milk thistle! Yes! The wild flowers are so beautiful!
Just wish they all lasted a little longer. So rare to find color out here. 🤣
These are invasive weeds that take over

Oh wow! How interesting. I can't imagine what the mood was like around you, even as a kid. So cool about your dad flying the planes, though! 😄👍

The purple flower is definitely a thistle.
Those rock formations are so majestic. They just beg to be climbed.

Fantastic hike my friend, nicely filmed too.👌👌👌
Many thanks! Thank you for checking it out. 😄
Very impressive planning and time travel back to the air museum in Tucson!!
Thanks! The hike had been planned a while .. just needed to do it. 😅
I think that is a musk thistle. They are terribly invasive in the high plains, but I could be totally wrong
Could be! Looking at photos and information about thistles in the area makes me think it could be possible. Thanks for the info! 😄

The story goes that they went into a near vertical dive after making a tight turn towards the airport.
Thanks for watching. 👍

Happy to provide. 😊 We love that area though. So beautiful!
its thistle it sticks
Thanks for the info! 👍
