- Today my good friend Josh Homme returns to the show for the 3rd time
to catch up on life.
We dive into his love of Music, Stand Up Comedy and of course the Desert.
Josh also talks covering David Bowie at the Taylor Hawkins tribute and what it was
like playing San Quentin.
Catch QOTSA out on tour all 2024.

I can definitely see how Dave thought Josh would do a great cover of Let's Dance. His dark, Bowie-like vocals also really shine on Carnavoyeur.
Been a pretty hardcore fan of Josh's since about 2001 when i accidently downloaded The Bronze on napster. Never had a chance to see him live until 2023 and it was the best live show ive ever seen. Im glad i waited. It was incredible.
just another level
@@deandelray keep up the good work, Deano! And check out my demo, man
Best live band going right now they are amazing
Best live band around right now … badass and they know it 🙌🏻
QOTSA really turned it up. I’ve seen them live a few times and this tour is the best live music ever!
Dude, I got choked up when yall were reminiscing over Mark. Hearing Josh sing "at the center of it all" from Black Star by Bowie, made me crave something I didn't know I wanted Homme or Queens covering Blackstar.... NEED!
"Find out." 😂 Man, he is so quick. Perfect end to a perfect conversation!
thanks for tuning in ha
Dude I love your voice man.
You're like if a skateboard could talk.
Saw QOTSA live for the first time ever last night in London, Ontario after being a fan for over 20 years. It was absolutely phenomenal, Josh is channeling some major Jim Morrison vibes in his performances. I was lucky and they played Straight Jacket Fitting, he always jumps into the crowd when they play that one, walks around, hugs everyone and is just vulnerable and one with the experience. If you're reading this and have the chance to see them live this tour, don't think twice!
Incredible band
@@deandelray Amen, brother
Dean you popped my 🍒!
1st podcast ever. Great guest-friend. The Red Headed Elvis. Loved all of it. My Sunday Breakfast. Fantastic stories and moments. I do miss Mark L and Tony B. Loved all 90 minutes. Awesome.
thank you. check out my other conversation with him
@@deandelray Absolutely Will. TY
First time I checked out the podcast. Dean you’re the man.. the fact Josh clearly likes you as much as he does says a lot about the calibre of you as a person
thanks for tuning in my friend
They played DC twice on this tour. I was at both shows. QOTSA is number 1 in my book. And Josh just quoted Raising Arizona, I love it. I'm glad he keeps coming back to your show, I've listened to all 3. Thanks.
Rock on!
Hell yeah, Dean. Josh is the man. I'm glad you guys get along, great conversation. Happy belated birthday 🎂!
Man, I love that Dan Soder, Bill Burr, Anthony Jeselnik, Rogan and Marc Maron are all fans of QotSA. Dan definetely deserves to meet Josh. Its so cool that Josh loves comedy too, huge Carlin fan n' loves Mark Normand and Sam Morril. Saw Queens this last tour, they were air-fucking-tight.
Thanks, Dean! You two are a big fuckin deal to me and I appreciate the time!! Can’t wait to see ya in KC sometime!
I appreciate you my friend
This was great! That 39:09 WEEN section ruled! Homme rules🙌
I love that he loves Ween. They are so original and clever. It makes sense that Josh loves them
Such a great example of two people I love just being themselves. That San Quentin story, omg I loved all of this. Thank you Dean!
Great to hear you Dean, Ive been "out of order" physically so I've missed the shows recently!
Josh Homme I know for a fact has been on your "hit list" so there was NO way I'd miss this as Josh is an all-time favourite Muso's of mine as well.⭐️
Have a great 58 Dean, I'll be with you in spirit mate.
Stay cool and peace from OZ. 👉💯✅️👍✌️
great job again dean! really didn't want this one to end. It's such a better vibe when you can tell the two people are friends just hanging and not some reporter asking generic questions.
Josh has my heart 💓 well done Dean on another great Pod … fix me and JH up. 😂😂
Thank you for talking about Mark, simply the best -- Pert Plus, hahaha, so good. Love it, you guys never fail, always fantastic -- can't wait for Josh's standup tour in 20 years! too good!
Glad you enjoyed it!
Absolutely love Joshua and QOTSA. First saw them play Manchester apollo in 2003 o the SFTD tour. Saw them twice on the Nero tour at Birmingham and Stockton-on-Tees. Amazing x
thanks for tuning in
You're welcome Dean, I LOVE your interviews with Joshua, he's such a living legend x
I didn’t know Amsterdam was a tuff crowd, it’s well known they are always talking during concerts, that’s true. I was there, I am from Holland. Thought it was a pretty perfect night. So perfect, I drove to Antwerp the week after to catch another show. There is something special about this album and tour. The band is different, but the crowd is also different. I loved the Queens when I was 20. Now I am over 40. But there is some sort of renewed old love going on right now. And yeah, I was also somebody that had to listen to the new record 5 times first to get to that atmosphere. But that was in retrospect with every Queens album. And with every album I ever began to love so dearly.
This week I am listening to the audiobook of Lanegan, while reading the book. What a life!
I wrote about it. So his life hit me.
Oh and Bowie, it’s so Homme. ‘Easier said than Done.’ I am so sure Bowie would have loved that.
That’s one of the reasons I love Josh, he does so much with his voice and teeth and lips. That’s a fine- tuning sort of singing.
And above that, I love that sincere smile, just like yours Dean. Great conversation.
Ps. Through this album I found the first ones back too. And yes, “Like Clockwork” I found back as the most prettiest of them all.
This is my shortest version, whilst listening to this I had something to say about every topic. Thanks for the tickeling of my mind!
Oh and if I were on that tourbus, I am sure that there will be no sleep at all. There is just so much to talk about and discuss. Beauty and darkness, pain and pleasure. Music-what a hell of a beauty ride -it is. No bus bunkers needed at all. So better not invite me I guess. Haha.
Have a nice day dear people!
I flew from Bulgaria to be in Amsterdam for that show and it blew me away! It was amazing!
Oh God I miss Lanegan 🖤
we all do big time
great show, I’m glad we stumbled upon you !
Seeing them 12/12 in Albuquerque with Spiritualized opening the show was a goddamned dream. Fun and funny talk man.
killer tour
Dean i've loved the realness and quality of your show man! thanks for all the work!
I appreciate that!
Hell yeah. Great combo!
Oh yeah!
Great conversation. You are always on point with the music dudes Dean. Thank you for this and for the comedy!
thank you
I remember having such a trip hearing different singers - for a (magic) moment thinking, wait a minute… what? Oh…
Name any other rock band that has consistently been at such a high level for decades. They don't even have a bad song. I kind of feel like they don't get their due. Maybe they're a little too dark to be more widely accepted / recognized as one of the all time greats. I don't get it. Great episode. Mark forever.
QOTSA ITNR vinyl = so fuckin good #LikeASouljah 🤟😎💯🔥
To anyone who went to the SLC show I am grieving with you as well
😞💔💔💔💔
Mark is the best kept secret. ❤
cant wait for the next jerry cantrell interveiw fuckin love hearing you guys chat, jerry has gotta be my fav of your podcasts mr delray!!
Thank You Dean 🙏
You are the man 🕺
Josh Homme ❤
Legend has it 😎✌️🎸
thank you so much
fun to hear them talk about how ITNR is the ultimate grower. when that incredible outro in "made to parade" hits home it's like a secret of the universe is being revealed to you
New record so good it had me not trusting my ears on first listen….its like the TCV record there is so much depth and new things to find….still giving ITNR 5-10 listens a week….it feels like a musical gift made entirely of “Easter eggs”….the vocals are a new high for Mr Hommes ability….
Man the last time i saw them live was when they toured like clockwork and i had not seen them until January last year and then i saw them again in june. And both shows were amazing. Thanks for the episode keep up the good work.
Cool!
Saw Queens live about 2 months ago and they put on an amazing show still
so good
Shit! Thanks for The Smile heads-up! Didn't even know it came out. :)
it’s incredible
Fucking banger. Goddamn!@@deandelray
Jesus u did me a birthday gift. Thanks for that interview!
happy birthday
@@deandelray thanks man. I really appreciate your interview collection, so many interesting people.
Yesssss!!
My first time seeing Josh was opening for Danzig (Kyuss smoked em). Love you dawg, you and Josh need to do a show, matbe even have a band....in my dreams :P
That's the tour I saw em on, too. Blues for the Red Sun. 92 I think, maybe 93? I was in Cincinnati, wild on acid and totally unprepared for what Kyuss was about to step on stage and do
🖤
Funny that I just found you through your last interview with Homme literally hours ago….
wow good timing
In times new Roman-
I can’t explain oh much I love this album.
Like clockwork / in times new Roman best albums of my life.
Ps where’s our new eagles of death metal album I’ll hold my breath.
Dean, you need to get this guy to try stand-up. Josh is so naturally funny. I know he saw George Carlin live, with his parents, the same year he got his first guitar. I just know he’d be great (and he’d love it.)
I mean, if you can get Marc to buy (and wear) a fancy wristwatch, this should be easy. 🤔
Saw Queens in Queens last year on my bday 🤯👏
❤❤❤
Ween is a huge influence, I’ve been seeing them live since 1990
The Hometown Buffet in my home town closed.
Did I just hear SANTA BARBARA BOWL???
You should check out The Grandstand Jockeys
Interview begins at 8:03 you’re welcome
🥸😎🤓
When I think about QOTSA, I think “forced irony”.
God

Music
Fuck my health .
What kind of cancer did he have??.
He's never said.
@@fl0nk11 did some searches. And while nothing is definitive. It seems prostate cancer is the likely affliction.
And from all accounts sounds like a successful surgery removed it.
I have two high school buddies that have had prostate cancer and if caught early enough it is very treatable.
Hope he has many good years ahead.
I’m really surprised to see someone has any answer with everything being kept so quiet. I’m curious how you saw any information.
No One Knows
nfl sucks
God I live Josh. He’s such a great guy.
