Usually not, because people tend to have the exact same expensive guitars, and end up sounding just like each other when they use the same amps and boxes as well... Rawest sound I got in the '90's was with a second-hand bought Ibanez Musician
my first album back in 2008 i plugged a boss metal zone using a speaker cable directly into the mic jack of the computer and recorded, then used cool edit pro as a DAW AND guitar pro 4 for drums lol
Nice video man! I completely agree with "Buy the cheap, not the cheapest" Some recommendations for people trapped in 3rd world countries like me: - Behringer UM2 do the job but I prefer Presonus Audiobox USB (includes recording software licenses) - Audio Technica ATH M50x or get a good pair of Mackie CR3 if you can afford studio monitors - Korg Microkey 37 (includes more software)
I got my electric guitar for just a couple hundred dollars at a pawn shop. It’a Les Paul style guitar made by Ibanez that I believe is out of production. Also got a free case and strap to go with it thanks to my uncle’s haggling.
not a bad guitar to be honest, I'll have to pick one up in the next couple of months. Been looking for a smaller brand to start buying into that doesn't charge stupid amounts for a brand. Good song!
Cheap might sound very kvlt at times, depending on how it's used. This old Sarcofago demo is a killer! ruclips.net/video/-JuFPayEHjU/видео.html They played it with cheap instruments.
@@zimorog Whaaat, that is insane! They really sound like they are from some classic song that I had missed for some reason. You should make a song out of them dude, it would be so dope, cjeers
Sounds like black metal to me (kinda reminds me of Gorgoroth). My only cheap gear is a Squier Affinity Jazz V. The rest is moderately priced, but it gets the job done.
A good rule in my opinion is to buy an old model from a good guitar brand. Cheap guitars can be ok for a studio project, but for rehearsing and/or gigs, they could show their issues.
Great video. Cheap (but not crap) - mid-range to begin, learn how to use it and then expand with more expensive gear if desired is the way to go. Seeing as I trust your opinion, what video editing thing do you use? I really need to "upgrade" from Microsoft Video Editor... Hvala in advance.
Completely agree with that but the amp and (if required) pedals, are important. I begins with an Ibanez GIO (cheap but OK, nice to play, while you forget the tremolo) "pack", so with amp. No pedal, just crank up to get some distortion (mostly overdrive...). A bit more than one year after, I tried another amp, with my guitar, saying to a friend that I wants to learn how to palm mute (I tried to play some Metallica's songs all the years, so palm muted E matters... if nothing else :p). I got the guitar, put on the amp to demonstrate my "technique" and... It sounds as expected. More than one year trying to make something (you can imagine frustration) and just the gear sucks. So definitively agree : do not buy the cheapest guitar and don't forget the amplifier !
the Behringer U-Phoria UMC404 HD ($170) preamp noise mic input is about -131 dBua (lower is better) while the Scarlett 2i2 Gen 3 ($240) is at about -127.. So the UMC is cheaper, sounds better... has 4 inputs (scarlett has 2).. but the UMC also has analog inserts for external effects.. and additional outputs for playback speakers.. So even though its cheaper. its the best of the two.. Thats the one I'm currently using and never had an issue. Those Focusrites are hit or miss... I wasn't a fan.. As far as the guitars go.. you can give an a $3K guitar to someone and it'll sound like shit... at the same time $400 guitar in the right hands can sound killer!
Harley Benton is good stuff for that price, I buy one (i dont remember model, sry) and fender frontman 15g for 550zł (polish currency, translate it to €, that was cheap af) and well... it sounds good for recording black metal/grindcore and war metal lol
I have a $100. mini keyboard!! I am sorry but it still doesnt sound that good to me!! And why would they put the pickup selector switch between the tone knobs?? LMAO!!
To me it just sounded muddy. Could be a lot of factors like strings, pick ups, maybe the way it was mixed but I doubt it cause all your other stuff sounds great.
I say cheap can be good if you have some knowledge and know some studio tricks. I recorded my debut with a 150€ Warlock and a 50€ used Ibanez bass, and I must say it came out at least decent. Gig-wise, cheap gear is gonna suck anyway, though
Better question: can expensive guitar sound good in Black metal?
hah :D
Oh shit

In the early days of BM, Chinese cheap guitar was not on the non-existing internet ;)

The more I see RUclipsr's review Donner's, the more I want one. Bloody hard to get one in Canada though, it seems. Great video!
Great vid Sablast, you rule man!

I've had my Behringer monitors for over 16 years, and still love them
So now you own a sunburst LP type guitar, like Euronymous.

Ibanez gio 7 string with boss metal zone pedal into a small crate practice amp then out to my interface. 🤘

Well, I don't have a expensive guitar (Jackson Js12) but, sound nice
Do you really need MIDI controller or keyboard if you can just use virtual one in DAW?
You don't need it at all. But it is a lot easier when you have it
I was thinking to buy a Harley Benton DC - 200 it looks and sounds like a good cheap guitar from i've seen
Tried only one HB. It was good
HB are generally good, but they have occasional hiccups. Don't know what their return policy is like though.

What kind of meinl cymbals do you use?
The cheapest xD
Everything is on his Equipboard page. If I remember I think they were Meinl HCS or something.

2 strings for the pig hooves.
Nice riffs btw.
So what do you get for 133 euros? Lets find out:

I hate the sound of the guitar I don’t think it has enough punch in the highs to get the true kvlt tone
