Man if you would've lived in my neighborhood in the early 90s, you'd have been in heaven. 39 here. We played literally EVERY DAY. Even during the winter because we have a baseball park in the neighborhood and all the neighborhood boys played because we all loved it. It was the best. We'd play 2 vs 2 or 5 vs 5 or 4 vs 4 with a DH that hit for both teams lol(9 people). It was awesome. I've literally played thousands of hours of baseball in my lifetime because of it. We even managed to play together on a couple of Little League teams. Basically the whole neighborhood on a team. We always had the best time. I loved it! One of the guys older brothers' was a coach at Centenary College(a local college) at the time, as well, and we convinced him to be our coach. It was FKN awesome! We were like 14 or 15. I played until high school, when the coach let someone steal my bat and didn't do anything about it. So I quit. Last time I hit balls was on a double date with a friend of mine and 2 sisters. I made him look BAD! 🤣 I hit every ball while he hit 2 or 3. We were taking BP at the local kids arcade game palace that has BP and a go kart track outside.
We played every day in the summer in my neighborhood which was next to the little league fields. It was awesome. We would have anywhere from 3-10 kids playing but it was usually 2v2 or 3v3 playing half field with ghost runners and mound ball where on a grounder if the throw back to the pitcher beat you to first you were out. Almost everyone in my neighborhood was a dead pull hitter because it was a foul ball to hit to right and 2 fouls to right was a strikeout. The one kid that was lefty was the exception. If he hit a homer to right we counted it but hits in the park had to be to left.
I love the sound of when they hit at this field and the echo sounds just great. Almost sounds like a cricket chirping in the background. The stealth vs 2017 zen. The zen echo best sound you will ever hear. Yes I wrote a whole essay talking about bat echos.
Hey guys wanted to give some “inside” info. I played college baseball at a Rawlings school when the Quattro was super popular. This version of the Quattro did exactly what you guys found. After a break in period these things became super juiced for about a week then would break. Also when we would fly with the bats on the plane, a lot of times the Quattro wouldn’t pass the psi test before the games. We were told that from Rawlings they purposely put the psi really low out of the wrapper and after the break in period they become hotter and hotter. Great content! Keep up the great work.
I was playing 12u when the USA version of this bat came in. My teammates LOVED it so most of them got this bat. About 75% of their quatros broke while I was laughing in CF zen
I was in college when this bat came out and now I'm coaching a 15u travel team with kids using this bat. So its safe to say I've also seen this bat first hand. Its pretty slick and has nice pop but almost every single one I've seen eventually broke. I used a 2014 Voodoo Overlord from the year it came out all the way through college and it served me very well. Its really interesting to see how far bat technology has come. Love the content, keep it up!
@@BGBlitzball bruh I'm not trying to make a scene u freaking 12 year old using a weak USA bat, I was just trying to help you becuase when I bought my quatro it came with a 1 year warranty
Been a while since I played competitively with bbcor bats, but from u12 through college many of us went through at least 2 composite bats per season. I still have my DeMarini CF5 from my last year of college, giving you an idea of the timeline here (my first year of little league all stars was the introduction of the first "double wall" bat, the DeMarini Explosion, best bat I ever used), but went through two of those over two years of use. Easton Stealth bats (remember those big orange boys?) were also very popular back then and they held up no better, but seemed to benefit from a break in much more than my CF5, Voodoos, and Akademas others were using. Some bats last forever, others last a handful of games. It appears to be a manufacturing thing, but warranties are so good you're only really dealing with inconvenience.
You absolutely HAVE to take a couple hundred swings on a tee before going on to soft toss. Going straight to overhand bp is definitely high risk for composite bats. It’s like your muscles, if you don’t stretch them out before you run you’re bound to rip something
The rawlings composite bats are hot. They also crack frequently from what I have seen. My son cracked his 28 inch rawlings at 8 years old on a solid hit and no I don't think he was strong enough to be breaking bats.
Some things here: 1. Composite bats made after 2017ish, whether it’s BBCOR or USSSA don’t really have a “break in” period anymore. They’re pretty much ready to go as soon as the wrapper comes off, just like aluminum bats. Aluminum bats are as hot as they’ll ever been on the first swing out of the wrapper, it only goes down hill from there. 2. This is the technically “correct” way to break in a bat, if you have to. Back in the days of the OG Mako, CF 5 & 6, and even the first Primes (2015) you have to rotate the bat a quarter turn after every hit for about 300-400 hits. And if you really wanna do it right you start on a tee, then go to soft toss, and then full throw; and you ramp up your level of swing about every 50 hits, so your last 50 hits are the only ones where you’re going full go. 3. BBCOR bats are the most durable bats on the market, simply because they have more material/weight to them. But they come in 2nd to USSSA in terms of hotness. If you thought this broke quick, it would’ve taken less than 100 hits to break the USSSA -10 Quatro. 4. As someone whose worked in sporting goods retail for a while, there’s a reason why Rawlings doesn’t sell as well as Demarini, Marucci, and Slugger in terms of bats. They kinda suck at making bats, and always have. Rawlings is a leather company not a bat company. Just like how Under Armour is a clothes company not a shoe company, UA literally makes the worst footwear in the world. Here’s the bats you need to look at if you’re buying for 2021: BBCOR 1. Meta (ZERO QUESTION) 2. Cat 7/8/9 (Cat 9 is coming out 9/1/2020) 3. CF USSSA 1a. Meta (Yes the Meta is being made for USSSA in a -10,-8,-5 for 2021. 1b. CF (Will be the same bat as 2018-2020 all Demarini does is change the paint.) 2. Cat 7/8/9 (Cat 9 comes out 9/1/2020, but will be at $280 instead of $230 for the Cat 8) 3. ADV 360 (Finally Easton is using Combat’s technology that they got when they bought them out 3 years ago, MASSIVE barely and sweet spot. You’re welcome.
@@graydenguthrie97 yeah that's a cheap but gassed bat too, but one of the reasons why my fave bat is the 2019 adv is its really light swinging and the pop, I've done good with it than I did with the goods that's for sure

I played up until about 2008-9 and the peak bats were the Easton Stealth and Stealth Comp. Another favorite of our team was the Louisville/TPX Exogrid. I liked some other TPX like the Response and the Omaha. Some others I loved growing up were the Triple 5, Triple 6, Triple 7, Triple 8 series. I had some great 2 piece bats that both broke, the Demarini Vexum -5 (black barrel/orange handle) and the Easton Stealth (silver barrel/blue handle) -3. Was a bit disappointed with the durability but I could feel the difference immediately when I bought each one and while they were still hot there was nothing better. One time we played a team that had just got a new Rawlings Plasma and that shit was super hot. I was a catcher watching them hit gappers on what seemed like normal base hits at best for the first few innings. Sounded like one of those mondo bats you used to play with in the backyard. This was all prior to the stricter regulations on bats started so I have no idea what bats feel like now, but this channel brings me back.
Composite slowpitch bats break in exactly the same manner. You notice a sound change, and the bat suddenly feels like it's wrapping around the ball. You notice an immediate loss of distance and a ton of knuckleballs.
I saw an OG Exogrid -3 break off clean at the handle, like three inches up the from the end of the grip tape. It was in game and the barrel came clear off like a missile towards the 3rd base coach. Nobody got hurt, but one of the scariest things I've seen in baseball. Never saw a bat break with that kind of velo
So many laughs during this clip! In 2020, we need more levity! This one is fantastic & a ton of fun. Btw, if you guys come up with a bat of your own you should name it "BBCOR GOAT". :) Finally, Cam gonna sell those shorts in the BBBros store? #WHATUPWHATUP
My son has had his for about a year half but only uses it for games not practice, so as much money these bat cost you do want them to last a while. so a little common sense goes a long way...not a waste
What type of ball do they use because it might be different but I just got a Composite softball bat and I’m not supposed to use it on some balls like it’s only used for games
Yeah I’m definitely never gonna use a composite bat, they’re expensive and they are literally meant to break. I would much rather pay for a power select or something like that for that amount of money.
That's the reason why I don't use composite bats. I'd prefer... the 1 piece, solid, alloy bats because they hit harder and last longer. But this video was fun to watch. ✌🏻⚾
Since it’s composite, you should each be using your own bat. It breaks in to one batters swing, multiple different style of strokes will cause stress fractures.
So we have this in a usssa 28-18 for my son. I broke it in for him by using it for fielding practice as I normally do. In his first game he cue balled it and the cap busted out. Crap! $75 down the drain (we bought it used, but basically brand new) I glued it back in and let him use it in a rec league that has no bat restrictions. It has sick pop. Sounds like it’s about to explode every time it’s hit solid, but damn, it’s hot now. He’s not nearly as strong as you guys so I guess it still has plenty of swings left.
My buddy had the same bat he called it the highlighter and he loved that thing a few months back he got in a car accident leaving practice and he passed away he had two bats with him and the “highlighter” was one of them it got snapped in half in the accident but it was an amazing bat and it had an amazing kid swinging it rest easy #9 we miss you buddy
My 11 year old was having a pitching lesson and the in cage next to us was a 17yr old doing a session with Andy Hallet(very good local coach). Smaller kid but crushing the ball. 95+ off pitches or more. He was using a BBCOR CF Zen. His dad says he breaks "A few".He wouldn't say but it sounds like DeMarini hooks him up. Turns out Hallet told me he is a very good D1 prospect. My son (Just turned 11 and plays U11 and U12) is a power hitter and only swings one piece aluminum. He doesn't like the feel of composite, although our $80 Adidas Aeroburner Comp USSSA has a massive sweetspot and a good bit of pop.

Sounds like it’s about to explode every time it’s hit solid, but damn, it’s hot now. He’s not nearly as strong as you guys so I guess it still has plenty of swings left.
At the beginning of the video I was like I want one and now I’m like I’m not wasting $300 on 200 swings
Still watching this almost every week :)
7:19 he sounded so sad when he said you won’t see me in a couple of videos.
I know, right?
Does anyone else love the echo I think it’s so cool sounding
My buddy had the same bat he called it the highlighter and he loved that thing a few months back he got in a car accident leaving practice and he passed away he had two bats with him and the “highlighter” was one of them it got snapped in half in the accident but it was an amazing bat and it had an amazing kid swinging it rest easy #9 we miss you buddy
Carbon fiber has a great tensile strength... but it fatigue life is very very low. Once the resin begins breaking... there is no saving it.
Pov: you’re skipping to when the bat breaks
This is by far my favorite video from u guys
Alternate Title: How Many Hits Does It Take To Get To The Center Of A Composite Bat???? (GONE WRONG) (GONE SEXUAL) 18+
I’ve never seen you guys have so much fun in a video before😂😂
It’s funny how the bat is literally breaking in half and y’all are still hitting gas😂

This was a fun video, but I can’t believe that Rawlings was so fragile though!
I can
In 1999 I had the Easton Redline C-Core. I broke it in a game. It was cool and upsetting at the same time. Easton did send me a new one though.
after seeing the break process all i can think of is how many kids are gonna slide into home and get composite shards in their legs😂
Ryan Bowers 💀
When you said you were breaking in the bat, I didn’t know you quite literally meant you were BREAKING IT IN😂
I’ve had that bat since the day it came out and it’s still amazing. The only reason I’ve stopped using it is because I have the new meta
What bat do you think I should get I play 13u AAA
Manuel Jimenez meta
