- If you are looking for a way to create realistic dust effect in 1/35 scale, in this video you will find a simple way to create the best-looking effect using basic tools. I used Australian ASLAV 8x8 military transporter to present this step-by-step guide [tutorial].
This Australian vehicle is one of the 8 models presented in my book titled Modeling Modern Armored Fighting 8x8 Vehicles and published by AK Interactive. You can also find there Stryker, Centauro, Bumerang, Rosomak, Boxer, ZTL-11 and VBCI. All ideas presented there can be used on every modern afv model to create weathering effect but also on any other model you build.
You can buy the book here:

That looks better than any other cotton effort I've ever seen. For smoke, cotton usually fails bit for dust, it's working!
Many thx mate! :)
A hard effect to pull off. I think you achieved a pretty good result. I think this and the water splash effect on your other 8x8 are things that are great for added interest to the finished model.
Thank you very much buddy! :)
Lukasz put me on to Modelers World Dirty Dust. Perfect finish for most combat Platforms. Plus, BUY HIS BOOK!! It’s the Bible (metaphor) for not just 8x8, but on his scores of technique!,
Many thx mate! :)
przyjemny materiał, krótko i na temat.
pozdro.
Dzięki! :)
Picked up the book already, just waiting on delivery, congratulations on getting published.
Thank you very much buddy! :)
That is one of the best cotton dust clouds I've ever seen.
Thank you very much buddy! :)
Usually this effect looks alright but not impressive to me. You have made it look great. I think the addition of the pigment is what helped as it makes it look more dusty rather than fibrous. Thanks for sharing!
That's why I said that this solution is controversial. I m not sure about it in 100% but I dont see anything better for this. :)
Great idea for making dust.I really enjoy your videos.Keep up the good work
Thank you very much buddy! :)
The dust effect is very well done. However, your ASLAV PC is more science fiction then reality.
Why?
Hello mr.cold. and again you deliver. I had a lot of fun watching and listen. An awesome job you did with that little gem.that aslav looks like his bigger brother in service.with all that luggage you bring that aslav to live.keep the Faith and best regards, and sticky greetings from brandenburg /Germany. Your fellow modellmate.christian

That is stunning!
Thx a lot mate! :)
Amazing work.
Thank you very much! :)
That dust effect looks really good. I think it is very hard to get it to look right and you have nailed it. Obviously to throw up a dust cloud the vehicle is travelling at say 10-20 KPH so the wheels would look like they are turning. I have often wondered about how to create that effect. I have tried it with aircraft propellers and helicopter rotors for capturing them in flight but not to my satisfaction yet. I would be interested to know if you have any thoughts.
Well, the only idea I have in my mind is painting them with some circles or lines on the tires to make the illusion of motion. I have no idea it is good and possible :)
Well done, mate!
Thx a lot mate! :)
This looks fantastic thanks for sharing cheers Liam
No problem! Thank you very much! :)

What manufacture makes this vehicle?
Trumpeter. :)
Trumpeter. :)
For me is no.... Good only for Photoshop and boxart
Well, it's your opinion. Thx for watching! :)
looks more like underbrush than dust. some things just cant be replicated in miniature.
Thats why I said it's controversial and that some things arew very difficult or even impossible to replicate in scale. :)
Poor tyre not Australian type used model USA again used look at this on your next one, book not good all work done wrong wheels
thx for your comment
