I'm going to say this with a lot of care, but I really don't know what's gonna happen to the African-American community in the United States with all of this stuff going on.. I am only imagining the consequences of racial profiling that will happen not just from white communities, but also from Asian communities as well and it's already starting to show and even from Indian and Middle Eastern communities also.

Thinking out loud for possible solutions: stand your ground laws or something similar, allowing postal workers who have firearms training to carry guns, an automatic death sentence upon conviction for attacking postal workers, corporal punishment, elimination of mail services for a fixed time, automatic fines/taxes on an entire block that receives mail and has had a robbery (moves residents to police their own neighborhood), a reward to family and friends that turn in thieves, a bonus to police/detectives that find criminals within days
I think the difficulty in the situation shown was that they had the drop on the guy. Need harsher penalties, if there is no consequence, then rarely will you see change.

Robbing a mail carrier is a Federal crime. That means the criminals once caught and convicted will do the complete sentence with no appeal or early release for good behavior. The minimum sentence for this offense in particular is 15 years in federal prison just for one count, if more counts are given it adds time.
