That's what narcissists do to snag their prey. They pretend and mirror back to their prey what they are and what they want. The narcissists know they are none of those things but they are too emotionally immature and stupid to realize it will never work in the end. Of course they get bored easily so it's not that big of a deal if they want to end things. But God forbid their victims walk away first. They become very angry and vindictive because the control and decision is taken from them. Diana went nuts when Charles went back to Camilla even though it was obvious by her behavior towards Charles that she didn't really want him. She just didn't want him to be happy with anyone else but her. The rejection was a huge blow to her fragile ego.
Megan is even worse. At least Diana seemed to have some genuine care for others deep down but her childhood trauma caused heavy narcissistic traits and issues with close relationships. Megan appears to be a malignant narcissist that truly uses everyone around her to climb a social ladder. She also does not truly care about Harry but unless she can find a more famous or richer supply (victim), she is hanging on tight.

Fergie got on so well with Andrew because they are both gross and arrogant and fond of vulgar humour. Fergie was incredibly socially clumsy and didn't realize how idiotic she was being. Almost as if she had a reputation death wish (See "Fergie, My Story" as read per Shauna in The Vintage Read). I stopped listening for a few moments and asked "Why? Why did you do it??" Too, too strange! And she hasn't changed. At Cannes Film Festival this year she was giving a speech ( At a film festival? Fergie? Why?). The audience weren't being attentive enough to her liking and she made a fool of herself, crossly upbraiding them for their behaviour. It was said that maybe she was drunk, but I don't think so. It seems that's the way she is. Thank you, Cheere. I do so enjoy your readings. And your Diana voice is epic!

I really didn't know Sarah Ferguson was such a vulgar boor. I'd always thought of her as a jolly, well-meaning woman that nobody tried to understand. I felt that if I'd been catapulted into the royal family, I might have met similar disapproval. It goes to show, I was as fooled by propaganda as the Diana fans were about her; we all were carrying around airbrushed images of these women in our heads. Now I know that if I were in her place, I might be ignorant, but I'd never be rude and entitled like she was. She reminds me of the character of Ulgine Barrows in James Thurber's short story "The Catbird Seat", who is described as romping into an office like a circus horse, and bulldozing her way over everyone with a quacking voice and braying laugh.

I feel your original impression of Fergie may not be too far off the mark. She seems like a female version of many aristo, country set boys who are sent to boarding school very early and have arrested, or erratic, social skills. Stables, locker room crude, yet somewhat imperious which can appear insensitive and condescending. They’re emotionally children in adult bodies. While they may marry for love, if it doesn’t work out, discreet, affairs are acceptable. Their parents and their friends’ parents may have had marriages of convenience where infidelity was tolerated.

It is something the BRF would learn from their mistakes with Diana and Fergie thinking their mother’s would have schooled them in Royal protocol when neither had much of a relationship with their mothers. Now anyone marrying into the Royal family has classes on extensive world/cultural protocol. Manners around the world/stylists and posture. Both Sophie and Catherine took two years of those classes before their marriages. The shame of it is the Royal KIDS could have benefitted from those classes. It might have been a huge difference for both York sisters and Harry. A good example of refining Catherine if you watch her posture before the Royal Family. She had a sporty exuberance, which is still there but sharpened by posture.

Plus Diana did what many of us girls were told, ‘laugh at his jokes, like what he likes.’ She did a great job acting like she just LOVED ‘country life’, fishing, hiking and even polo. After she got married that’s when she unloaded on him how much she despised Balmoral, in particular. Hated his ‘tweedy friends and their inside jokes’. He was so much older and should have spent more time getting to know her and instead he viewed it as getting his father off his back to ‘stop dithering, Charles!’

I think their marriage was doomed from the begining. At worst, Diana was dishonest by acting like she was someone that she was not, to attract K. Charles and seriously hunted him down. At worst on K. Charles part, he was in love with another woman. Whether emotional or physical, he was not going into this marriage with a full heart for P. Diana.. They both entered into a marriage with false actions. They may have "tried" at some points but even lust only acts as a bandaid, not a solution, and only lasts so long. My grandmother used to say, when you have feelings for someone, it is only human nature to show your best side. In that, you do not really even START seeing basic faults until after 6 months to a year. Those two rushed into it but also had dishonesty and deceit in their hearts from the beginning. Maybe if they both had been upfront from the begining, they would have realised that they, while great people in their own way, together they just brought out the worst in each other.it is a very sad story. Unfortunately some people feel that the end always justifies the means. 😢
