Age 32 and a qualified psychiatrist I was in the plastic surgeon’s waiting room due to a large mole that needed to be removed. I thought that every other woman in that waiting room had body dysmorphia and might have benefited from consulting a psychiatrist rather than a plastic surgeon. I am extremely concerned about the plastic surgeons who pursue this lucrative but in my opinion immoral trade.
I used to work for a plastic surgeon. She had many long-term clients, and some celebrities would go to her. Her clients didn't look overdone though but still, I think a lot of them do have body dysmorphia. She makes lots of money doing the surgeries and other procedures, so I am sure she doesn't care.
I am a psychotherapist and have been since the late 1980’s. Body dysmorphia has become more and more prevalent over the years. I totally agree with you.

There isn't a single person on this list who looks better as a result of their "improvements".
Thinking they were improving their looks, they only brought more problems. Especially those who are older thinking they could keep up with the younger crowds but in reality I would’ve rather had to deal with my crows feet or the sagging of my brows, at least I would look realistic instead of alien-like and distorted. I know they don’t see pretty when they look in the mirror but only more problems that need attention because of all their surgeries. These are people who have too much money and time on their hands that they get bored and start thinking what if I?

This was actually a really sad video to watch. The majority of these people needed treating psychologically, not surgically. I can understand people with physical abnormalities seeking surgery to make their lives easier, less painful or just to fit in and not stand out, but there was nothing wrong with any of these people before they had their surgeries and procedures so there seems no justification for any of them. To look like a doll or to have the biggest cheeks/bust/lips in the world is not a valid reason. Which then begs the question, where are the ethics of the doctors and surgeons who perform these procedures on physically, perfectly healthy individuals yet who are potentially mentally unstable or ill?
If it's a case of whoever has the money can have whatever they want done, then should these people actually, morally have a licence to practice at all? I think in all of these cases the doctors are at fault and should be held accountable. It is they that are the professionals and they should be able to see that someone coming to them with a request to make them look like a Barbie, a blow-up doll or a cat needs a significant amount of psychological help instead of whatever THEY can offer!
this is a modern "freak show", the difference is that most of those people are rich, have "chosen" to do those plastic surgery, and are more or less mentally sick. For a good amount of money, you will always find a "doctor" to perform those procedures, in countries were laws about medicine are blurred ....

Yeah but, that’s people’s choice and, if they can afford it they are going to do it, when, they get addicted that’s when, you know something is wrong and, a lot of doctors won’t do it beyond a certain point and, sadly you can’t tell adults what to do and, not to do! Kenny Rodgers said, that was the one thing he regretted because, he wasn’t a where how drastic it would change his appearance!

All of them looked so much better before surgery. It’s sad that they could not see that and had multiple surgeries with horrible results. It becomes an addiction and they end up looking like freaks.
It’s refreshing to see older women who take care of their body in natural ways, with diet and exercise, a good haircut and nice teeth. Maybe a little bit of Botox is ok because it’s reversible but too much of it looks bad. Women, and men, look so much better without surgery and it shows a kind of self confidence that’s powerful.

Taking something that has its roots in the very substance that can cause botulism (Clostridium botulinum) is, in my opinion, totally and utterly *_STUPID!!!!_* Who knows what the long-term consequences could be? 🤷🏼 Dangerous is an understatement. No, I definitely believe that one should stay completely out of it, either for good or until its safety is assured. Also, I've come to the conclusion that, where major facial changes are requested, therapy should be compulsory before any surgery goes ahead.

Well, Botox is to help with aging and, medically to help for migraines and, there’s side effects and, Juvederm a lip filler is also used for those who need to have medical surgeries around the face and mouth region to numb that part of the facial area so, it makes it easier for the surgeon to do what he needs to do! If you definitely have to have throat surgery keep in mind this doctor may have to use this filler!
Can you imagine how many homeless people could have been helped, how many children with cancer could have been saved or how many disabled veterans could have better lives if these vain humans had let nature take its course? Millions of dollars from just these few could have saved numerous lives!! So very sad.
If said money was donated, of course. However, ponder why they are doing these procedures. Hollywood and cultural differences idealize certain beauty standards. I don't even understand how a 'beauty standard' starts, except that people become obsessed with looking like someone they admire. Well, if we tack on mental illness like anorexia--which body dysmorphia is a symptom of anorexia-we have rich people with mental illnesses asking for unreasonable body modifications. It's an addiction like any other. It just takes a selfless group of surgeons to say "These individuals have body dysmorphia and we will no longer allow surgeries to occur where mental illness could drive the desire for surgery. Unless the surgery is medically necessary, we will not perform it." But of course most aesthetic professionals do not have a soul and will perform said procedures for the money, fame, fear of backlash etc.

I passed out when the doctor clipped a tiny skin tag from my arm. Woke up to find I had urinated on myself too. I will never do this.
These people should have some kind of psychological counseling before they have anything done. The plastic surgeons should absolutely insist upon it before operating on them. I believe most plastic surgeons are in it just for the money. As you can see from this video I’m 100% correct.😮

Inner beauty isn't outward beauty. There is great pressure in society to be physically attractive, so I understand the drive they have. However, these are extreme cases and should be addressed by mental health professionals and not plastic surgery.

You know, I put some of the blame on irresponsible surgeons who should say no when the person’s body dysmorphia and surgery addiction (an actual mental health disorder) is putting them at risk for collapsed nasal passages and horrific and dangerous internal complication results. But no, some of them only see the money, ignoring the possibility of disastrous, harmful outcomes. I feel so sad for these people who do so much to themselves that they risk life and limb….LITERALLY.

@@christar9527 I did write SOME of the blame, not all of the blame, is on the surgeons. Because Along with irresponsible plastic surgeons, there is still a level of personal responsibility to the one that’s choosing these procedures. But along with that, doctors can also tell them no out of their own sense of professional responsibility. I think both parties have differing amounts of responsibility in the situation, and both parties are at fault for different reasons. 🤷♀️

The needy are always wanting handouts - it never ends. They don't live responsibly and keep breeding under the belief of entitlement. The government needs to revoke the welfare system for those who live on it long-term (with the exception of the truly disabled).
As for charity donations, there are countless good causes, including that of the precious animal kingdom; but these people are allowed to use their money how they wish. No one else is entitled to it.

Go to the dentist,please. Stop procrastinating. Dental health is just as important as mental and physical health. I put off going to the dentist for years and didn't floss everyday, now I've recently had 1 root canal, six fillings with another root canal upcoming and then 1 or possibly 2 extractions as well to look forward to. On top of 2 previous extractions from bad teeth that either got infected or were crumbling due to poor dental hygiene and maintenance. If you go regularly, and practice good dental hygiene you can avoid alot of dental issues before they become huge problems not to mention the Pain! After I get all these procedures done I will never miss another appointment, I will continue to commit to flossing every single day/night and know that I'm doing important things to keep myself healthy.

I was burned on my leg when I was only 3 years old, and my little sister and I were visiting our dad after our parents were divorced and he had visitation rights. He worked nights and he was asleep when we were left alone with our 6 year old cousin who had grabbed a puppy to hurt it, but I said don’t do that to him he’s just a little puppy. Then he started to rip up the box of Tide detergent and put a piece of it in the water heater to catch on fire. I didn’t know that it could hurt him and I laughed because he made a monkey sound like ooooh. He threw it onto my pants and I started to run to get an adult. The front door was locked and the glass door knob was broken. I desperately hit the door, and my aunt had a sheet in her hand and she put it out. She woke up my father and told him what happened to me and he picked me up and said we’re going to the hospital. I could see the bones in my leg and I was holding the flesh together and then my tears fell on the burn and I screamed out loud from the pain and my dad said put your head up. I remember everything that happened and then laying on the surgical table with a mask on and the ether smell. The first surgery didn’t work because they said the skin was put on wrong? So I had another grafting surgery on my leg and it took about two years for it to heal enough for me to go to school. Kindergarten was great, but every day I was put down for my scars, redhair and freckles. Additionally, they said I had cooties and I really thought I was from Mars. Back in the 60’s we were not aware of plastic surgery until I was burned. The March of Dimes covered the entire cost for the surgery and the hospital. I wish I could have met with them to tell them that I outran everyone who was running the 50 and 100 yard dash and I had lost muscle mass in my leg, but I didn’t know that I had any problems at all until I grew up. Be happy with yourself and if you have to get surgery to save your life you will learn to appreciate exactly how you are now.

I thought I'd mention that in summer I always come out in freckles, and had loads as a child, but kids being kids always pointmout the differences, so when I was upset about them one day my mother told me that freckles are natures sign of natural beauty! From then on I embraced them and I'm disappointed I hardly get them anymore! Ha ha ha! Xxx

I've not seen one senior looking person no one with grey hair or deep wrinkles around one's lips or other little things (you) might look at as older people 🤔 I'm 76 yrs young and no one believes me I've never done a thing to alter my body or looks and Botox OMG snake venom never I hate snakes 🐍 never ever. Everyone again is a young or mid 40s-50 age person at the most.These people have a lot of emotional issues one that makes me really sad was Michael Jackson who not only wanted to change his looks but also his color I know he had a complexion disorder but it didn't effect his entire body he went from a beautiful young black man to a really whiter version of who he was and he was young when these procedures started not an old person. The sad thing is these people have plastic surgery because they think it will make them happier, happier not just with how they look, but how they think other people think they look like but also happier with their life. They have the surgery then find that even if it goes right and the look great, they still aren’t happy with themselves or their life, so they get something else done and then another thing and they get so much done that they end up looking freaky. What they really need is counselling to learn to love themselves for who and what they are not what they look like outwardly, beauty is far deeper than Sandeep, it comes from your soul, being kind and caring not just to others but to yourself makes you beautiful. Be confident and content with your life, yes it’s fine to try and better yourself and have a better more comfortable life but do it sensibly by finding a career that you enjoy, brings you fulfilment and your’ll find you might still work hard but the rewards outweighs the hard work and eventually the benefits show in your health and wellbeing. And remember loving yourself for you costs nothing and won’t ever damage your body or your health!

That's exactly how I feel. I also think they take this opportunity to experiment in addition to being paid for it. Whereas, they usually pay people to be guinea pigs, in those cases, patients willingly and dearly become the pigs.

I understand some procedures. Say you have a huge nose or a ‘bad’ chin that you want to make look better. But the people going to extremes, looking like a Cat, Zombie having your cheeks filled…. The “Doctors” doing those surgeries need to be looked into as much as their patients.
