As Grant said, and I encourage you to go back (knowing that you watch the Bowls as often as you do) to all the post-game stuff. I think EVERYONE is missing the real issue regarding Kyle. Kyle is being judged as a OFFENSIVE COORDINATOR/GENIUS and getting a pass as a HEAD COACH. Plain and simple. Rob is giving Kyle ultimate credit as a OC by citing the PFF #4 for the offense. Grant is being too critical of Kyle across the board. The way I see it is that Kyle needs to be held to the standard of a HEAD COACH, but many are simply judging him as a OC. Lombardi gets this wrong, too. Do I think we should fire Kyle right now as Head Coach? No, not yet. Is his seat heating up? It absolutely should be. The reason why is because KYLE (the Head Coach) is ultimately responsible for every phase of the damn game. The entire team--top to bottom--he is ultimately responsible for. And he's failing as a Head Coach. A football team's power structure is very similar to the way a business is run: the Head Coach is the CEO; the assistant head coach(es) are the Vice Presidents; the coordinators (Offense and Defense) are the Department managers; the position coaches (both offense and defense) are the managers. Just an example here, but when the offense line is an issue, the OLine coach is the first coach that is held responsible for the issues. OLine reports up to OC, who reports up to the Head Coach. If the OLine isn't getting it done, hey coach! Work these boys! Work on the holding penalties....pay attention to this. Coach 'em up! If the offense line play doesn't get better, then the OC better step in and help coach things up. What are the things necessary to make the changes? Maybe personnel change is the issue. Maybe the OLine coach is the wrong coach for this group. Regardless, the OC and HC better be stepping in and addressing the issues! The problem that I see: Kyle is NOT doing that! Rush EPA: Jordan Mason: -10.8 Christian McCaffrey: -3.3 EPA/Att Jordan Mason: -0.08 Christian McCaffrey: -0.10 Per NFL’s advanced metrics on the season, it’s unlikely Jordan Mason would’ve continued to gain 6 yards per carry. It’s more likely he would’ve become less efficient with more carries. Not to mention, CMC’s averaging more runs that reach 15+ mph per game (3.5 to Mason’s 3.2) - that’s while working his way back into game shape. This isn’t meant as a knock on Jordan Mason. Grant said the stats back up that Mason should’ve been in the game to ice it out when that’s simply not true. When the game’s close, you want your best players on the field. That’s still CMC
I'm just always wondering why kyle's playcalling is dependent on his star players. Others teams have an injury they can at least do something. If a player is out for our team, the bottom falls out
Yes! And that is because Kyle relies on what has worked in the past. He is incapable of adapting to what’s going on in the field and how teams are currently playing against the Niners. he spends the entire game looking at the damned play sheet filled with plays that worked in the past, when he should be figuring out adjustments to deal with is actually occurring on the field and calling plays to take advantage of his current roster. Andy Reid can do that he’s been doing it all season with the Chiefs! They have a depleted roster, and Mahomes isn’t playing so well. But the Chiefs still win! Kyle doesn’t adapt to changing circumstances. That’s the problem.
Can't argue with Grant on the points he made. Getting to 3 superbowls and losing them all in the exact same way is a problem. That's who he is. He's not learning from his mistakes, he thinks that eventually if I keep playing this was, it will work. The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting a different result.
And Rob, I don’t care about the Steelers. We’re talking about the Niners. I don’t have no what about isms when it comes to my team you either win or you lose we are not the Jacksonville Jaguars. We are the 49ers.
Rob, how can you not see that playing Mason more would have resulted in better chances in the run game. McCaffrey is coming off and injury and is still not up to speed, Mason was the 4th best rusher in the league in the 1st half of the season. Why run McCaffrey into the ground when you have a fit RB who can make a difference.
They have a great draft class, but he won’t play the young players Andy Reid , Sean McVay plays Young players all of a sudden this year Kyle Shanahan won’t play young players
The coach with his bad personnel decisions, this talent is being under coached. We have great personnel and we are not showing it and we should’ve not lost that game and we should at least be eight and two or seven and three this year.
Yes, it might be an idea that will never happen but trade Shanahan for Sean McVay. Both of them have long 10 year with the Rams and the Niners why not do that
Injuries are a factor. If this team has any chance it needs to get healthy fast and it just won’t get healthy. Too old and the rookies are just not proven enough. Saying this Kyle get a year to get it back. If everyone is healthy this team is the absolute best. Fire the defensive coordinator and Special Teams! Get it together or he will be on the hot seat.
Long time viewer, first time commenter. I appreciate the effort from Rob, Grant was on one. Seems like the arguing is a microcosm of the overall displeasure with how the entire 49ers status/situation looks and feels. Thanks.
😅 It’s like how do you feel when your two favorite 49er RUclipsrs are duking out and then it starts to get a little uncomfortable in the room. I 100% agree with Grant that Kyle didn’t know the rules; otherwise 49ers would’ve elected to kickoff. But Grant’s emotions just took things too far, causing Stats to get extra defensive of his opinions (and Kyle). Grant, man, you’ve got to just take a moment (a deep breath maybe) and keep a sense of professionalism. This is RUclips, your image, and Stats’ show, it matters. You can’t just pull plug on the show like that; it’s a bad look. Also, you can’t just keep interrupting Stats before he finishes talking; it’s annoying to the viewers. Some apologies are in order to Stats here. I would hope this incident doesn’t get between your friendships or future shows. Like I said, you two are my favorites. I would hate to lose your interactions and Niner expertise. Keep up the good work. Please have an adult talk about this.
I agree but will add to it, Rob also needs to realize that he is the face of this channel and needs to control some of his emotions. He can be a lot like Grant but he doesn't recognize that
By Grants logic Pete Carrol should still be coach of the Seahawks..Grants bent is personal and if you listen to several talking head shows all discussing the same thing it is hilariously obvious
I really don’t think it’s Kyle who put this team together. I think it’s him and Lynch from rounds 1-3 sometimes 4 and the rest has been the scouts. I say 3-4 because the ridiculous drafting of kickers
This talent on this team and it’s not being coached up and it is frustrating and Brock Purdy‘s gonna be blamed for it because of our talent instead of the head coach because of the decision-making and playcalling and personnel groupings
Hopefully after today Grant understands it’s pointless to argue with Rob about firing KS because he’s in love with participation trophies. He’s ok with being second place. Lol
You gotta be kidding me!!! Grant is not at all ”hurt” by Kyle. He does, however, think it’s sad that Kyle’s bad coaching has cost the 49ers the season. Maybe that’s what you’re seeing.
@@theattitudeshop Come onnn....!!! Dude's spitting out his mouth and running away in the middle of the show...he's definitely hurt over something more personal than the 9ers having a bad season.
@ Maybe the interaction between him and Rob. They’ve been tight for a long time and today was intense. Grant can’t understand Rob’s giving Kyle a pass and Rob doesn’t see why Grant wants to fire him. Another poster said Grant’s mood changed when Rob called him “disingenuous”.
Grant with an unprofessional move to cut the show..shocking. That dude is a 🤡 but also the most anti-Kyle person out there and Rob is the most pro-Kyle person out there so this argument was never going to reach a resolution. Just leave it be guys!
I don’t even like Grant but Rob you sound ridiculous trying to debate these weak a$$ points. Grant roasted you like chicken and I get it, the take debate is part of the show and not real but dayyyyum. This team is actually VERY, VERY good and being horribly mismanaged not to mention EXTREMELY EXPENSIVE to boot. Ownership spent MILLIONS for this?!?! Zero excuses for Kyle this season, not to mention his total lack of accountability and smug holier than though attitude after getting embarrassed game after game.
The 49ers are cooked. BOSA is hurt. Even if he comes back. Lack of execution will continue next season. Brendall will continue to not focus and get false starts. All the coaches he had success with are all gone. We don't do good in the draft. 24 draft was good but the previous seven picks didn't work out. Mike Tomlin won , Kyle hasn't won shit. I think Kyle still needs to learn how to win SUPERBOWLS like Andy Reid. Andy Ried had to learn . Didn't win in Philly. But he wins Superbowls in KC. I think Kyle needs to do the same thing. He needs time. He isn't winning any time soon. All his coaches being gone shows how much he needed those coaches. Now he has no one. His fault for not retaining. Kyle is looking old and tired. It's time. In the coming years even kyles stans will start to question why he can't beat teams in the Superbowl. We see it time and time again. There's no guarantee we can get back. Rob you can't compare a champion to no Rings Kyle. Kyles offense doesn't Add up to much points. A so called guru cant beat . Kyle needs to go. We can all see it. New fans rather just go to the Superbowl and lose. Kyle stans just wanna get to the Superbowl. Some fans actually don't care about winning the Superbowl. When you seen 5 Superbowls like I have . You can see it. It's not gonna happen with this coaching staff. Let the other teams get Kyle and go through the same thing we are going through with him. They will experience it as well. Kyle sucks.
Yup! That’s the exact feeling. I saw 4 of the 5 and there’s just nothing on the planet that will make me understand losing a Bowl. But, Kyle ain’t it. He’s a good coach. But it’s close to time we shake the jar.
Rob, I lean towards Grant's position. Mason has a much better chance for YAC or breaking tackles than Christian does at this time. The obvious solution, at least to me, is why aren't you using them both? If you have this wealth of riches on a team (supposedly) why aren't you using them? Why, after just returning from a catastrophic injury is CMC having more carries in one game than he ever has... or was that just total yards, of which over half were YAC and catches. He's definitely short a couple of spark plugs so spell him much more often with Mason. My brother like myself is a life long Niner fan. He is a Kyle apologist/loyalist just like you, Rob. Even he after this last game said that Kyle holds responsibility for the season, the lack of "juice" (motivation/passion) of his players, and the lackluster play calling in critical situations. He's predictable and shows no imagination. He whiffed on STs for the past two years, never seeming to care. A good team is a complete team in all 3 phases - especially when the one thing you relied on so heavily before (Defense) is going through their what number is it now of Coordinator? Add injuries and aging stars and you're left with what is supposed to be Kyle's strength: Offense. It's the entire picture of the offense that is a problem. Every position. I agree with everyone who says that Kyle needs a person around him to check him.... a second perspective. It's very clear that he's often wrong with his play calling. Hard to listen to the whining/yelling between you two.
They did try to address special teams. They changed coordinators, and they went out and signed special teams aces like George Odom and Oren Burks. They spent money on a returner in Ray-Ray McCloud. They drafted a punter in the 4th round and a kicker in the 3rd. Obviously it didn't work, but they clearly recognized an issue and tried to fix it - they care.
From start to 9:27 Grant was reasonably cooking and Rob still holding on to hope in Kyle. Injuries are just a given under Kyle so that’s not an excuse no more. Kyle has been down this road and should be great at adjusting to it. But nope! It’s no excuse to be this down this year. Next season it’s SB WIN or you’re fired! It’s put up or shut up!
I know yall dont like Grant but I agree with alot of his points. They also argue past each other. Each of them dont really answer or rebut each others arguments. Rob brings up coaches with rings as a rebut to Grant then Grant brings up Mike Shanahan and Rob says hes irrelevant.

Per NFL’s advanced metrics on the season, it’s unlikely Jordan Mason would’ve continued to gain 6 yards per carry.
I understand both sides but grant sometimes goes over the top and moves the goalposts
Eddy D would have fired him
Ya'll take this stuff too seriously lmao
It’s a show man you have to make it entertaining. Look at these debates like wrestling.
@jonmay55 Grant was legit pissed. Idk how you can't see that
Grant is totally correct in all of his arguments. But man is he agitated and it's hilarious.
Grant, I disagree with you on Kyle Shanahan being a bad coach. He is a great coach. He’s just not great for this team anymore.
Kyle had the opportunity to get an elite QB before he went to Tampa bay, but they thought he was to old and washed🤣
And it has to be said Nick Bosa has to move on trade him for Micah Parsons
Can't argue with Grant on the points he made. Getting to 3 superbowls and losing them all in the exact same way is a problem.
That's who he is.
He's not learning from his mistakes, he thinks that eventually if I keep playing this was, it will work.
The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting a different result.
And Rob, I don’t care about the Steelers. We’re talking about the Niners. I don’t have no what about isms when it comes to my team you either win or you lose we are not the Jacksonville Jaguars. We are the 49ers.
Mike McCarthy is a SuperBowl Champ .... 😮😅
I respect both these guys but, honestly, they are the same just on opposite ends. Stats thinks Shamahan is a great HC when's he's just an OC
Bill Walsh always traded a player just before he hit his peak. Also, he drafted a QB every year. The roster needs to be refreshed.
@CarolT4SF and Kyle has had the second best team in nfl last 6 yrs he must know what he's doing too
It doesn’t matter if they have a new roster Kyle is gonna Kyle regardless 🤣🤣🤣🤣
They have a great draft class, but he won’t play the young players Andy Reid , Sean McVay plays Young players all of a sudden this year Kyle Shanahan won’t play young players
He’s not playing the other two rookies on offense that are fast that would help this offense he’s not playing them
Grant is trying to bring the hyperbolic pessimistic east coast sports media vibe to the west coast
The coach with his bad personnel decisions, this talent is being under coached. We have great personnel and we are not showing it and we should’ve not lost that game and we should at least be eight and two or seven and three this year.
I'm just ready for a change. I'm tired of seeing a roster this good fail over and over.
Yes, it might be an idea that will never happen but trade Shanahan for Sean McVay. Both of them have long 10 year with the Rams and the Niners why not do that
Kyle with leads loses, he coaches scared and takes his foot off the gas
He can be a lot like Grant but he doesn't recognize that
KC is Mahomes. Reid could leave tomorrow. KC still contenders with Mahomes and Spags.
Fire Kyle get me a new coach
Can't do this shit arguing and talking over each other.
Just saw a thing from Mike piera that the refs blew a call in the 4th quarter where Seattle did call 2 timeouts back to back and got away with it
They won’t do jet sweeps with him or Jacob and his frustrating the place that they run for Debo and CMC they won’t run for the rookies
Tenure with both the Niners and Rams I say swap the head coaches
I'm not happy we get there but we always lose. Not happy with getting there I want wins
This talent on this team and it’s not being coached up and it is frustrating and Brock Purdy‘s gonna be blamed for it because of our talent instead of the head coach because of the decision-making and playcalling and personnel groupings
Didn’t reed go to 5 straight nfc championships
Honestly change that intro music...sounds like them political anthems to me
Grant sucks
Hopefully after today Grant understands it’s pointless to argue with Rob about firing KS because he’s in love with participation trophies. He’s ok with being second place. Lol
Grant is obviously so personally hurt by Shanahan lol what a baby😂 You can see it in his eyes😂😂
@@theattitudeshop If you say so, bro👍 Have a good evening; Go Niners!
Grant with an unprofessional move to cut the show..shocking. That dude is a 🤡 but also the most anti-Kyle person out there and Rob is the most pro-Kyle person out there so this argument was never going to reach a resolution. Just leave it be guys!
Grant won this debate easily
I don’t even like Grant but Rob you sound ridiculous trying to debate these weak a$$ points. Grant roasted you like chicken and I get it, the take debate is part of the show and not real but dayyyyum. This team is actually VERY, VERY good and being horribly mismanaged not to mention EXTREMELY EXPENSIVE to boot. Ownership spent MILLIONS for this?!?! Zero excuses for Kyle this season, not to mention his total lack of accountability and smug holier than though attitude after getting embarrassed game after game.
Grant stupid. Don't fire Kyle take some of his power
Rob stats lombardi 😂
Grant ate you for lunch dude
@@Cubs3eb 👍🏽💯
Grant tells it like it is and doesn’t kiss Kyle’s behind 🔥🔥🔥
He is right bro
Kyle's trash
Rob is going to go down with the Kyle ship...so sad to see such suckage.
Dude you say anything on your channel 😂 Shanahan sucks , Mike Tomlin is by far a better coach than Shanahan, dude stay off the drugs
I know yall dont like Grant but I agree with alot of his points. They also argue past each other. Each of them dont really answer or rebut each others arguments. Rob brings up coaches with rings as a rebut to Grant then Grant brings up Mike Shanahan and Rob says hes irrelevant.
