Hello! I was struggling to play MGS: Twin Snakes on 1x with Vulkan drivers and after your video I'll try using OpenGL and maybe change the GPU thread VBI Skipping to never. Thanks for the tips!
Whenever i play Twilight Princess i get this error message "failed to submit command bugger: VK_ERROR_DEVICE_LOST (-4)" I have my fans on full too. Any idea why?
Beach Spikers plays at about 55fps so you'll either want the PAL rom or enable VBI Skip to play and it should be a pretty good experience. Virtua Striker seems to run at only 30fps so even with VBI Skip it will play slow. Probably not playable.
I don’t know what I’m doing wrong but none of my games are running on GC dolphin. I tried SSX3 and wind waker and both were tearing and running slow. In fact ssx3 on ps2 emulation is almost unplayable. And it’s the one game I so badly want to work. Part of the reason I got the 556.
Both of those games should run just fine with default settings. A few things to consider: are you using the latest dev build of dolphin? Don't use the play store version as it is usually pretty behind in updates. Your dolphin settings, most settings can just be default here but maybe just check the rendering resolution is 2x for now, compile shaders before starting, and vbi skip are on (these are necessary for the two games you mention but will help with others) Other considerations are your SD card.. does it have a fast data transfer rate? Try moving your roms to internal storage to see if that helps. Lastly, pull down the shade by swiping from the top and set auto mode to high mode for increased performance.. again this isn't really necessary for the two games you mention but it will help a little.
@@RetroHandheldGuides thank you. I’ll try all that. My card should be fine. But I did get the software from play store. I followed another guild and they just used the play store. I change my settings and see if that helps. TY. Also I think I changed to Vulcan. That might be the issue as well. I’m novice with emulation so I’m learning.
Vulkan should have a bit better performance and is recommended for PS2 and psp emulators but for dolphin it can be unstable so I personally just stick with opengl
It’s working but the video at the beginning has graphic tearing. The game itself runs great like you show. Could be the rom. I’ll try another source. Thank you for all your help. Have a subscriber as a thank you 😊
Thanks for subscribing! I have found that most GC games in rvz format have poor quality videos. I think it's probably their compression algorithm. In general I've found the videos for GC roms to not be great so it might be something you just have to learn to live with. PS2 emulation doesn't have the same problem so if you want to watch the videos and there is a PS2 version of the game, try that one instead
For the most part it is pretty smooth but there is some stuttering when entering new rooms and sometimes when you start shooting. Overall I would consider it a pretty good experience to play from what I tested
@@RetroHandheldGuides Am I right in assuming stuff like that would be solved by playing at 1x 1.5 x resolution? I'd try myself but my 556 is on the way lol
Not necessarily. For some games a lower resolution will make the frame rate smoother but compilation stuttering on entering new rooms may not be fixed by lowering the resolution. Also, official dolphin does not have fractional resolutions.. just 1x or 2x or 3x etc
F ZERO GX on it looks awesome!!
those settings for MOST WANTED worked! Thanks a lot lad!
Man! Star Fox: Assault looks amazing on this🔥👌🏾
If you apply the widescreen gecko code it looks even better. Absolutely gorgeous!

Do the rg406v
Does it come with Pokémon Colosseum or XD Gale of Darkness already downloaded?

Can it run PS2 games as well? Have a RG35XX and wanna upgrade to something that can do GC and PS2 stuff
Yes it can. I have a video showcasing PS2 on the rg556 as well.
Just keep in mind that it can't do Every PS2 and GC but it can do most

Why is Metroid Prime "mostly playable"? Seems to me to run pretty smooth

@@RetroHandheldGuides Oh I get what you're saying. Hopefully future updates could help mitigate those issues then.
@@RetroHandheldGuidesyou need to turn one a specific setting for it to work
I'd like to see Metroid Prime 2
It runs at 60fps with minor dips
Pls try switch games that is playable in yuzu pls
The odd few work, majority are unplayable
Are these games pre installed?
Some of them might be but I source all of my own games so I'm not sure what's on the cards that you can purchase with the device
socom3 and ps2😢
I have a PS2 video for the rg553. I didn't test socom though
@@RetroHandheldGuides Please test socom3 as soon as possible. Thank you, brother
Socom 3 seems to work just fine at 1.25x. some very minor occasional dips that quickly recover
