I hate the whole “zero resale value” argument, if you only collect toys so that down the line you can flip them and get money out of it I think that defeats the whole purpose of toy collecting, buy what you like who cares if it’ll be worth something or nothing down the line
I completely agree. I have a family and have collected toys for 30 years…. It’s not completely realistic that an average person can afford a $100 action figure… it’s ridiculous… yes my biggest concern was the cancer concern… but I did a home test. I’ve read that if you wash the figure thoroughly with warm water and soap, abs then dry it off… then douse it in some distilled white vinegar, which is a natural astringent, and then you wipe it with a cloth or paper towel, if the towel or cloth is clean, then the plastic is safe…nice the cloth or towel are a darker color than the white or bright towel, then there’s a risk… A RISK…of the plastic being dangerous. But again, you’d gave to eat it, or suck on the plastic… just handling it isnt the issue. That would be considered a crime, because even the workers at the CT Toys at factory would be at high risk for illness. Thanks for this video…. I love that you are a fan of them. But for instance, just leaving a plastic Poland spring water bottle in a car or outside in the summer or winter releases toxic chemicals from the plastic they use. And the chemicals in the toys are present but they aren’t much more of a concern than anything that’s plastic. I opened a bootleg made spiderman #075 and it stunk like hot 🥵 plastic… I mean such a bad smell that I wrapped it in four plastic bags and left it out in my yard. Then I purchased a sealant to seal it up. Mod Pog actually makes a good one that makes anything you paint it over water proof. So it has to seal in smell and potentially bad fumes. But yes. I think CT knows that if it gets out that their toys are toxic they will lose a ton of money. I mean, right now they are cleaning up. I’ve never seen this with bootlegged action figures ever and I’ve been collecting for over 30 years. Anyway. Have fun and be safe! Great to meet you!

One of my gripes with CT Toys was the use of the 2099 head without permission from the original designer. They just stole a 3d model and slapped into their figure
I mean.... CT toys stole that head design equally as, that's right, the whole design and engineering of the original 2099 figure. So with the same logic they should've asked permission from SHF😅 And yes, understand the point. Stealing from freelance artists ≠ stealing from huge ass corporations. I know what it's like when someone steals your hard work. Been there myself, it feels awful. When I compare freenalce artists's work with companies, by company I'm not talking about licence owners or rich ass executives. Yes, the design team legally doesn't own the result of their work and they got paid, but I assure you it is equally frustrating to them to see months of their work and effort being copied by small 3rd party sellers. These KOs are made by ordinary factory workers who don't get paid wages of money. In terms of economy it's much better since new factories provide new jobs. And I'm sure artists earn more money than these Chinese factory workers, especially such talented ones. It sucks that they don't get enough credit for their work, but unfortunately it's capitalism, a very flawed and unfair system.

I don't take issue with ct toys or anyone who buys their figures. I even own their 185 spider man myself. What annoyes me tho is the people who over-glaze them, and treat them like they're one of best toy manufacturers rn, when all they essentially do is successful trace the work of other artists. All props for the articulation, sculpt and accessories are owed to medicom/bandai/kaiyodo. It's nice to have a company that can make import products more affordable with decent quality, but CT added literally nothing to the figures themselves. They ain't "cooking." I don't mind them existing, and i can see why they're blowing up online, but a company that doesn't actually make they're stuff shouldn't be treated like one of the best.

My experience with CT Toys is that it is kind of roulette but roulette I am willing to play. I have their Agent Venom, Agent AntiVenom, Tobey Spidey, Spiderman 2099, Comic Spidey, Scarlet Spider, and both Wolverines. So the QC varies on these figures. My Agent Venom is perfect, I don’t see a single flaw. My Wolverines Spiderman 2099, and comic Spiderman have good paint apps but not perfect (nothing to really complain about though). My Comic Spidey did unfortunately come with 2 right web shooting hands instead of a right and left. My Tobey Spidey came with unmasked head that had a ton of molding around the ears. Also my Tobey Spideys shoulder joints and both Wolverines legs were super tight. You need Silicon oil to loosen them up so they move without breaking. So now onto my real complaints. The left one joint on my Scarlet Spider and the right shoulder on my Agent Anti Venom are completely floppy loose. Like there is no tension in the joint so they are unposeable. Also my Agent Anti Venom has a large amount of paint missing from the center of the spider symbol on his chest. the Also buying from CT Toys Aliexpress won’t get you any sort of replacement parts when stuff is faulty even though they state they have customer after care. So just buy from whatever store has the figure the cheapest on Ali. With all that being said the good outweighs the bad on these. I am really impressed with most of them. The QC issues can be annoying (mostly the floppy joints) but for the price it is worth the risk.

I for one think if a person really wants something, they should just save up to support the company producing them, however if the figure is a bit grossly overpriced or extremely finite, then it kinda is on the company for not making the product accessible enough.
S.H figurearts is the grand champion of both of these problems. They make some characters super exclusives to P. bandai, whose pre-order sell out in less than 5 minutes mostly by resellers that will charge you 5 times the price and it's a one run thing, so you won't get a second change for some characters and some figures are grossly overprice, they made Cooler, one of the most incredible sculpt work in the entire line and canonically towers over most figures from the line for 70 dollars, which is a fair and just price for such a great figure....and then they have the balls to sell superhero pan, who is not even half of a normal goku figures size for the SAME PRICE has cooler.

Yeah, but it just comes with bootleg figures. When buying a bootleg, I immediately check for loose or stiff joints VERY carefully. Little glue for loose, liquid soap or oil for stiff
My ct toys mafex miles legs are super loose and the legs come off so easily and my ct agent venom the shoulder joints are extremely loose and my spider man 2099 every where is pretty loose
my Spiderman 2099 is arriving this week, but I'd like to mention that the reason why its headsculpts are so good is because CT toys took an instagram artist's work and used it for their figure lol
I think bootlegs are def on the rise, I mean just look at all the clone boot legs from ali express. They are giving us figures we've been asking for and for like $10 less, the only complaint I've seen about them is they kinda smell bad since they don't treat their figures with the same chemical Hasbro does to get rid of the natural plastic smell.
Personally i dont mind ct toys.. But scaling is also a factor i consider when purchasing action figures... Ct toys underscales their figures.. While it works for characters like wolverine because hes supposed to be short.. I feel like the spiderman characters arent accurate to their scale.. Like the 2099 spider-man which is alot shorter than the official..im getting the mafex instead because its slightly more affordable than the offical shf plus i perfer the darker blue over the blue atsv 2099 has..plus the mafex could go well with my other comic book action figures.. I might only get some of them but im not gonna give them praise for just copying an already existing figure..they're a bootleg company not a 3rd party one like tonsen toys or beast deities which make completely original sculpts. Plus theres people saying ct is better than marvel legends..which idk 2024 was a good year for marvel legends and some of them to me feel better than a ct toys imo.. I've bought quite a bit of bootlegs CT and not, and I do have to say that CT just locks in with the releases. The only issues I've had with them were with their early releases (2099, Tobey, and unfortunately Symbiote Spider-man) my only problem with the company is that they take from custom 3rd party artists with their sculpts and promote it as their own. But then you have to ask well why don't you feel bad for BANDAI, MAFEX, and such? Well it's because I ALSO support their releases. I have like several pre-orders, 3 MAFEX Batman figures (1 of which is a custom Bruce Wayne) and several SHFs. I'm not saying I'm rich or anything but if you can get like 5 bootlegs in a few months, if you want to support the real deal, hold off on the bootlegs, you CAN earn that money and GET an original, I don't think a lot of people remember this but collecting can be a privilege. It can feel absolutely rewarding just earning money and buy that expensive $100 figure. If you can't get the original there are tons of options such as 2nd hand marketplace. My point is, you shouldn't limit yourself to bootlegs, if you really feel bad, support the official releases and custom sculptors (I've gotten a few customs myself). CT offers great quality figures for an even greater price, but I think some people are just overly reliant on that bootleg company that they don't realize they are actually pretty capable of buying original products. But if a figure is WAY too out of your reach in terms of price, I do think CT can be a good alternative (example with their upcoming MAFEX 001 TASM, I'm not paying $2000 for a figure MAFEX doesn't profit on anymore).
Ct toys is so popular now that people are trying to look for the negatives to try to tear them down but they cant. They cant find ANY reason to not buy. It's funny, i never heard anyone try that led test with any other mainstream companies l like Hasbro or McFarlane or neca....crazy
Bootlegs have been known to use led paint before, companies like the ones you named wouldn't be able to sell their stuff on shelves if they used led paint.

The only bad thing with CT is the scale, and even that is just some cases since the Wolverine and Scarlet spider seem to be great scale wise
love ct toys got the brown version of wolverine and its great figure is nicly painted and articulation is good

my Spiderman 2099 is arriving this week, but I'd like to mention that the reason why its headsculpts are so good is because CT toys took an instagram artist's work and used it for their figure lol
I think bootlegs are def on the rise, I mean just look at all the clone boot legs from ali express. They are giving us figures we've been asking for and for like $10 less, the only complaint I've seen about them is they kinda smell bad since they don't treat their figures with the same chemical Hasbro does to get rid of the natural plastic smell.

But scaling is also a factor i consider when purchasing action figures...
Ct toys underscales their figures..
While it works for characters like wolverine because hes supposed to be short..
I feel like the spiderman characters arent accurate to their scale..
Like the 2099 spider-man which is alot shorter than the official..im getting the mafex instead because its slightly more affordable than the offical shf plus i perfer the darker blue over the blue atsv 2099 has..plus the mafex could go well with my other comic book action figures..
I might only get some of them but im not gonna give them praise for just copying an already existing figure..they're a bootleg company not a 3rd party one like tonsen toys or beast deities which make completely original sculpts.
Plus theres people saying ct is better than marvel legends..which idk 2024 was a good year for marvel legends and some of them to me feel better than a ct toys imo..
Overall..ct toys with some adjustments and maybe more recolors of figures like their anti agent venom would be stuff id like to see more of with ct toys..

I've bought quite a bit of bootlegs CT and not, and I do have to say that CT just locks in with the releases. The only issues I've had with them were with their early releases (2099, Tobey, and unfortunately Symbiote Spider-man) my only problem with the company is that they take from custom 3rd party artists with their sculpts and promote it as their own. But then you have to ask well why don't you feel bad for BANDAI, MAFEX, and such? Well it's because I ALSO support their releases. I have like several pre-orders, 3 MAFEX Batman figures (1 of which is a custom Bruce Wayne) and several SHFs. I'm not saying I'm rich or anything but if you can get like 5 bootlegs in a few months, if you want to support the real deal, hold off on the bootlegs, you CAN earn that money and GET an original, I don't think a lot of people remember this but collecting can be a privilege. It can feel absolutely rewarding just earning money and buy that expensive $100 figure. If you can't get the original there are tons of options such as 2nd hand marketplace. My point is, you shouldn't limit yourself to bootlegs, if you really feel bad, support the official releases and custom sculptors (I've gotten a few customs myself). CT offers great quality figures for an even greater price, but I think some people are just overly reliant on that bootleg company that they don't realize they are actually pretty capable of buying original products. But if a figure is WAY too out of your reach in terms of price, I do think CT can be a good alternative (example with their upcoming MAFEX 001 TASM, I'm not paying $2000 for a figure MAFEX doesn't profit on anymore).

Ct toys is so popular now that people are trying to look for the negatives to try to tear them down but they cant. They cant find ANY reason to not buy. It's funny, i never heard anyone try that led test with any other mainstream companies l like Hasbro or McFarlane or neca....crazy
Bootlegs have been known to use led paint before, companies like the ones you named wouldn't be able to sell their stuff on shelves if they used led paint.
Everything they feed me is poison. I can handle a little lead on my toys. After all, I did grow up with Voltron and Optimus so I guess I built an immunity 💪
