    A potência da sua moto também é um dos diferenciais da beleza de seus vídeos! O Grande Canyon é surpreendentemente maravilhoso! Abraços de Montes Claros/MG/Brasil.

      Yellowstone is such an incredible place to visit, and very diverse. Most people only think of the thermal features, the geysers, and don't realize how big the park is and how much more is there to see.
      Yellowstone é um lugar incrível para se visitar e muito diversificado. A maioria das pessoas pensa apenas nas características térmicas, nos gêiseres e não percebe o tamanho do parque e quanto mais há para ver.

      Thank You. It is amazing how many people don't watch to the very end, and I really do try to keep every second meaningful for those that take the time.

    Nice ride! I was just in Yellowstone with my Road King back in late August and early September after the Sturgis Rally. When were you at the falls overlook when there was no traffic?

      I was at the falls in mid August, and it was hardly no traffic, but it wasn't too bad.

    Robert,
    Once again a great clip and very informative. As I mentioned previously we will be heading to Wyoming this August. We will be staying in Yellowstone at the Canyon campground. Canyon will be our home base as we ride through Yellowstone for a few days. Your clip helped me see some of the stops that should be a part of our travels.
    Also, I see you live in BC. In 2015 I rode my Honda VTX from my home in St. Louis and met my brother in Seattle. We rode through Cache Creek, Lake Williams and stayed in Quesnel on our way to Anchorage. It was a very beautiful ride.
    Thanks again for the clip.
    Clint

      Clint, thanks for watching. I am glad to hear that you find the vids helpful. It sounds like you have picked a pretty central home base for exploring Yellowstone. That central home base will make it easier to explore the park without too long a time spent getting to and from the points of interest!
      Yes we live in BC. On your trip north you rode through the Fraser and Thompson Canyons just before arriving at Cache Creek, those are some of our favorite riding roads in our own backyard! We are located in the desert area just 40 minutes east of Cache Creek.

    nice video, thanks for sharing.. i kinda figured this ride was taken in august. i didn't see any road construction, which was great, usually august is when the highway dept gets out there .. my friend that lives in lake Tahoe says there are 2 seasons, winter & road construction. LOL take care & keep up the good work.

      Thanks Terry! Yes we did this trip in August, and we avoided the west leg of the Grand Loop Road because of road construction.

    Another great video, I have often wondered, is that your actual bike exhaust in the videos, reason I ask is it's very smooth sounding, but kind of muffled from a case or something. When I make ride video's it's always got a small raddel from the water proof housing. Anyways great video. Thanks for sharing.

    • @RobertMerz
      @RobertMerz  7 лет назад +2

      It is my actual bike exhaust note. But it is dubbed in from sound recordings of the bike that were made separately from the video. The original sound is too poor, wind noise etc. so I have many sound tracks that I work from to build the sound for the video. Also doing blends the way I do, the original sound would not have smooth transitions.

      Thank you for tagging along! The more people that ride with us the better. Seriously, every view does put a little bit of money in my pocket, which puts gas in the tank for the next ride, so your views are appreciated. Sharing the videos is a great help too!
      Our Yamaha 1900 Roadliner now has about 71,000 on it, and yes it is the same bike in all the videos!

      I am using Cobra X-Tra Longs that I cut down to a staggered profile. I also am using Cobra's flow thru baffles. On a dyno the standard Cobra baffles were showing a horsepower loss in the higher rpms.

    Love your videos. I bought a Lavalier mic and am using my cell phone voice recorder in my luggage rack gear bag to do the same thing. Works good. I am also using ram mounts to get the Gopro outside of my windshield to reduce glare. Took everything out for a test run and it all worked great but it is a little bit of a challenge to get the sound synced with the video. It eventually came out good though.

    • @RobertMerz
      @RobertMerz  6 лет назад

      Hey that sounds like a pretty good idea. I have thought of doing the same thing for off bike videos. The cell phone/mike combo provides decent quality?

    • @retiredguyadventures6211
      @retiredguyadventures6211 6 лет назад +1

      I have only tested it once so far and it wasn't bad. I have a canvas hard sided round T-Bag on my luggage rack. I just laid the phone in the bag with the lavalier mic plugged into it and used the small collar clip to attach it so the mic was actually outside of the bag with the t-bags flaps zipped up to the mic. I had both the foam cover and a dead cat cover on the mike and hoped that the bag would break the wind. Like I said, I only tried it once and was more interested in practicing syncing the sound and video. I think I had some wind buffeting but not a lot. I will next try wrapping the mike in a some kind of thin soft cloth or maybe just leave the mic uncovered but inside the canvas bag. The phone voice recorder worked good though.

      Sounds like you are going to make it work! Thanks for the info.
      I use prerecorded sound for my bike videos and that works quite well for myself and the style of video I do, I build the audio while watching the video and snyc it visually. Now when I watch tv shows or movies I find myself paying attention to how the sound fits with the visual, it isn't always what you think it would be, obviously voices are snyced to the people but many other audio cues actually lead varying amounts, it is quite interesting.
      A possible help with your audio syncing is to understand what a clapper board is and what one of it's functions is. Clapper boards are the black and white board that the guy snaps and yells "Take 1" when they start filming a movie scene. They are very important to see and hear during the editing process because they provide a very "sharp" visual and audio reference for the editor to sync to. Sync the clapper board, everything else will fall into place. Is there something you can do visually and audibly that could work similar?
      Have fun!

    • @retiredguyadventures6211
      @retiredguyadventures6211 6 лет назад +1

      Thanks for the tips. I watched a couple of youtube videos on syncing video and audio. I basically do the same thing as a clapper board by just clapping my hands 2 or 3 times with the voice recorder and the camera turned on. When in editing I just match the spikes up on the audio and video tracks. It's not that hard except I'm still just using Windows Live Movie Maker and it is finicky when trying to match them up. I need to maybe start using a better editing program. I did take a short ride with everything on and, after editing, it came out pretty darn good for my first attempt except for some wind buffeting on the mic.
      I know what you mean about watching tv. After playing with basic editing for a year now I better understand what I'm looking at on tv and youtube. I can appreciate well made videos because I know how much work goes into editing one. I love your stuff on old tractors and cars. My dad was a farm boy from Pennsylvania and still loved tractors even when he was an older. I would take him to tractor shows when they were around. He also loved motorcycles all his life.
