This looks a great opportunity for someone who's new to Indian food to sample a lot of different foods. It makes the meal an event, everyone tries the same thing one by one and can talk about what they think. I suppose this is one of the reasons in Indian households meal time is more than just eating food, it's about getting together and it being an occasion. Something perhaps lost on certain cultures.

Its so awesome to see people from different origins really enjoying such flavourful dishes from India. Honestly eating so much is so damn difficult i would be done with just 2 sides and some rice lol.
I thank both of you on behalf of all my Indian friends.
It is a little depressing though to see how some white people kind of stink away from our food sometimes without ever really trying it based on the look or just the fragrance of our flavourful recipes. I tried introducing some of my friends here in Canada to home cooked Indian dishes i guess I just have weird friends but their definition of good food is fried chicken so they cant enjoy my food.
So it really brings joy that there do exist people with a more open attitude towards variety and give all the dishes an even chance to treat their tongue 😁

You should always start with appetizer (dry item) like tandoori chicken, followed by Roti and gravy & final Rice. If you have rice first you stomach will get full in the initial stage. White rice is usually eaten in the end with dal toppings plus other curry and veggies.

It's not only about how good Dale has turned into a food connoisseur but a kind of somebody who understands & appreciates the traditional values & significance of Indian cuisine, which has rarely been shared and cherished so far by any Scottish. With every passing day man, Dale earns more honour.

Usually, the parata, roti, naans are eaten with a dry dish and a dash of gravy. A pickle is put on the side of the plate. Eaten together it gives a tremendous amount of taste to the mouth.. the papad. is eaten along with the meal providing a crunch in between morsels.
The rice along with gravy and a bit of the dry dish, veg or fish, chicken or mutton is eaten. Then the flavored rices, like tamarind etc. Finally its biryani time. Then the sweets. This was the explanation I received when eating a large thal.. it's the combination of a bread, gravy, veg or fish etc that gives you a burst of flavor in your mouth.
Super video, I must say ... frankly every item looked delicious and I'm sure it was so enjoyable.
Good luck, good health and cheers.

It's hard to do decide what to eat first when such huge items are in front but generally rice at the last goes well in Indian cuisine.
Soup -> Meat / Tandoori Starter -> Paratha with Meat/Paneer gravy & veggies - > Rice with Daal and all other items in small pots -> Desserts
