Unlike from other thalis, this one looks like individual items are prepared specifically, like sometimes masala used is same for most of the items but here everything is prepared with different taste. Wow!
This looks a great opportunity for someone who's new to Indian food to sample a lot of different foods. It makes the meal an event, everyone tries the same thing one by one and can talk about what they think. I suppose this is one of the reasons in Indian households meal time is more than just eating food, it's about getting together and it being an occasion. Something perhaps lost on certain cultures.
Dale the reason the restaurant was still jammed at 3 pm is because here in dubai a lot of people prefer to eat lunch after 2 pm, and dinner is usually after 8 pm. *Its not only dubai, but common throughout the entire region
One tip: if you mix rice and curry well with your hands then the food will taste next level,,, just putting curry on rice will taste different as you taste strong curry in one chew and plain rice on other chew

Its so awesome to see people from different origins really enjoying such flavourful dishes from India. Honestly eating so much is so damn difficult i would be done with just 2 sides and some rice lol. I thank both of you on behalf of all my Indian friends. It is a little depressing though to see how some white people kind of stink away from our food sometimes without ever really trying it based on the look or just the fragrance of our flavourful recipes. I tried introducing some of my friends here in Canada to home cooked Indian dishes i guess I just have weird friends but their definition of good food is fried chicken so they cant enjoy my food. So it really brings joy that there do exist people with a more open attitude towards variety and give all the dishes an even chance to treat their tongue 😁
There is plenty of people from all around the world especially in cities with a ton of culture. Cities like London, New York, San Francisco and Los Angeles are all great examples where you’ll have more interesting options than basic foods like fried chicken.

You should always start with appetizer (dry item) like tandoori chicken, followed by Roti and gravy & final Rice. If you have rice first you stomach will get full in the initial stage. White rice is usually eaten in the end with dal toppings plus other curry and veggies.

Usually, the parata, roti, naans are eaten with a dry dish and a dash of gravy. A pickle is put on the side of the plate.
