Nice review on both the rods and lines . What are you using for your running line ? I may have to look at RIO lines again , I gave up on them a couple of years ago because of there durability issues, it was a big problem for me with all there lines .
    Thanks

I have a couple of different running lines. Rio Connectcore metered running line, OPST lazar line, and Rio Slickshooter. I'm looking forward to trying the new Powerflex Ultra from Rio. Should be super durable

I have been using the OPST Lazar line and have not been happy with it , it coils up and is is hard to straighten are either of the others any more user friendly ?

Some days I hate it and some days it’s fine. I’ve noticed that newer casters have a lot of problems with it. I like the slick shooter better but it takes a lot of stretching each time using it. Hopefully I can try out the power flex ultra soon and give a report back.

Hows a sage x spey to a sonic

The X pretty much only came in whole foot lengths - 11, 12, 13, 14 feet. The sonic, except for the switch rods, only comes in 13’6 (except for the 5126). I really like the 7136 sonic. The 8136 sonic is decent. The X8130 was great. 7130 was pretty good. Didn’t like the 12’ X rods. Loved the 11’ rods.
The new X replacement, R8 Spey, has some really sweet rods in it. Love the 8126 and 8116. 8130 was good but felt pretty similar to the X.
Looking forward to trying out the 7126 and 8136.

@@Gigharborflyshop is the sonic slower ?

I had both the 8130 X and Sonic 8136. I think the big difference was the taper and where the rod flexed. I felt like the X had a little more of a stiffer tip. Both were canons. But the sonic 8136 felt like a bigger rod. The X had a little more "feel". But I'd say I liked the Igniter and new R8 Spey series more than the X and Sonic two handers.
