We stayed at this resort in 2023 just before they closed for the rest of the year. I'm happy it's now open as adults only. I'm looking forward to staying there again pretty soon. Thank you very much for the video, excellent!!
My first foray outside of Canada was to Puerto Vallarta and could never remember for the life of me what resort I stayed at. Shortly into this video I was hunting for my pictures to compare as parts of the resort looked so familiar. Granted it was 2016 when I was there and knew they probably reno'd but yup, I stayed here and loved it. I was actually I think 4 floors above your room pretty much in the same spot as you. I am going again this year and now know where to book. Awesome video as always :)
Thanks so much for this review! My husband and I just booked our stay here for next April, which will be our third visit to PV and first at RIU Pacifico. I’m even more excited about watching this video!
Thank-you for the very informative review !!! This resort definitely pampers the guests - so much variety and luxury available for a reasonable price on the beautiful Pacific coast !!!
My husband and I were looking at this resort and then your amazing review came out. (I love all of your reviews.) After watching your review, we called our travel agent and booked the RIU Palace Pacifico for Spring Break 2025. Thank you so much for all the work you put into your channel.
Thank you so much for your wonderful review. I booked this resort a few months ago and will be going at the end of July. There weren't many current reviews on RUclips that talk about the recent renovation. Because of your comprehensive review I am sure I made a great choice. Thank you again.

Excited to find Canadian POV & to learn about the Palace upgrade. I've had good stays in other Riu resorts in PV, and am now excited to look into this. THANK YOU!
Aly, my husband and I are BIG RIU fans and I highly agree that PV is THE place to go in Mexico (we have been on the east coast also) We will be at RPP in 14 days and canNOT wait. Your video is very helpful (as they all are) We've not been to the reno'd version yet. We would also highly recommend Bucerias as there is a laid back vibe to the entire area. This will be our 9th trip to Mexico collectively. We also recommend RIU Palace Montego Bay. It was the only trip we've taken where we had no desire to leave the resort and just R E L A X at the resort.
Wife and I just got back from staying there. It was awesome. Just Uber if you go anywhere. Just make sure if you have to be somewhere in PV by a certain time, book ahead because it's a 35-40 minute drive and sometimes you have to wait 20-30 minutes for a ride if you don't have it booked in advance. And ask for your room not to be above the theater if space is available. Its not the worst thing in the world if you do get a room above it, just know that it's 11 pm before it shuts down. We really liked our stay there. We did the Rhythms of the Night. It was okay to pretty good. The show was great, boat ride was great, both too and from. The "romantic candle light dinner" was nothing to write home about. There was nothing romantic about it and it wasn't surfside. Tons of people packed around you and food was so-so. My only issue with it was just how long the whole thing is. From when you get to the boat and by the time you get back, you've got 6 hours wrapped up in it.
Love your videos. We plan on going in January. We are stuck between Riu Palace Pacifico and Grand Palladium. Based on your experiences, what do you think is the better bang for the buck?
I’ll jump in and say I’ve only stayed at grand palladium this February, and it was absolutely breathtaking, when it comes to the views, and beach. It’s surrounded by stunning mountains, and cliffs, and the beach is nothing like PV. It’s Crystal clear water, and almost the perfect white sand. The one, and only downside (for me, with a bad back) was the beds. It is remote, but I loved that. The food was outstanding too!

Hey there, curious to know more on the beach is it rocky? And I’m happy to hear no seaweed I was worried about that. Also, is there a nightclub on the property or is the nightlife reserved for one night at the other Riu?
I was at this hotel 12 years ago as a teen with my family. It doesnt seem like its changed much since then. Do they still serve bottled pepsi at the main buffet?
Massages have gone up. Summer of 22 it was 35USD for two people. But really glad to see it's adults only now. Overall it looks like they made a lot of really nice improvements. I thought our visit was rather average. But seeing the changes I will be putting it back on the short list for a return.
We stay at the resorts just next door north of the Riu Palace. You walk by them on the way to Bucerias. We stay at Villa La Estancia if we want a quiet vacation. Or at the Villa del Palmar Flamingos next door. We got married at Villa del Palmar in December 2022. The beach in that part of Nuevo Vallarta is clean and rarely has large waves.

Hi Ally, great video. Regarding cost, have you looked at booking directly with Riu? I booked Riu's Mazatlan property for next Christmas and New Years and found it cheaper than anywhere else. Booked our flights via Westjet which is always cheaper than Air Canada.
Yes, I think it depends on dates. For us, it was cheaper to book a package. Booking direct & flights separately would have more than doubled the total price. That was for WJ.
This looks like such a great place! What is a good time of year to go? Or, is there a time of year that is less desirable? We especially love to swim and have been to Yelapa on a Mexican Riviera cruise. Really wanting a relaxing vacation ❤
This is a GREAT review video and very helpful! 👍😃👍 My wife and I are going to be staying there next week and we're both cigarette smokers, so we were wondering if you can help us out with any information regarding the smoking ban in Mexico (ie is it enforced? Are there designated smoking areas? Etc.) Any info you could give us would be greatly appreciated. Thanks again for the great video!
There is a designated smoking area on the beach (there's a big sign, easy to find). We saw several people using that spot. I'm not sure if there are other areas around the hotel. It's not enforced, however we did see someone who was vaping in the pool get fined $2500 pesos. But they were blowing huge vape clouds and were pretty rowdy lol.
My daughter and I will be going there in June and a little nervous about the transportation to and from airport. Is Uber avaiable and safe to take? Also would you recommend using Uber to go to downtown Puerto Vallarta? Thanks inadvance for any recommendations you can provide since it will only be me and my daughter.
Hi, I responded to you on IG, but in case others are reading this - yes, we take Uber exclusively in PV. At the beginning of this video I talked about and showed how to grab an Uber from the airport. From the resort if you want to go downtown or back to airport, the Uber will just be waiting at the end of the 'driveway' entrance to the hotel (they just can't pull up to the door - an extra 40 steps, no big deal). Enjoy!
It's a totally different style of trip. We've been to PV many times and wanted to enjoy a nice resort. If you want to do a PV specific trip, than yes, stay at a little hotel downtown.
@alysmalls were going in June but there arent a lot of videos so I hope it's good! Same with the Hotel Tesoro Los Cabos. We're heading there in January and it has very mixed reviews! We like budget friendly because we like to venture off the resort too lol. Love your content! Found you years ago and you helped me plan my first PV Trip 🫶
Ive been here a few times but havent been since 2021. The pool is new since they changed it. Honestly its far worse than it used to be. The pool was much better but it just needed an update. Now its just bland and beige.
Nice video. But Riu Pacifico is a 3.5 star adults only. No butler service. No in room Nespresso or Keurig coffee maker. 335 sq ft standard size rooms are some of the smallest in Mexico for an Adults only resort. Low end towel cards meaning only one towel. Other Adults only resorts it's no towel cards meaning multiple towels. No swim up rooms. No oceanfront rooms. No free umbrellas on the beach. Sardined under palm tree nowhere near the waters edge. No oceanfront breakfast lunch or dinner. No mixed drinks during lunch or dinner. No order off the menu food served to your lounge chair at the beach and pool. No oceanfront infinity pools with views. Small cookie cutter motel 6 pools. No hot meal ala carte room service. Nice resort but 3.5 star adults only.
Rhythms of the Night...horrible experience. We thought this would be romantic, lovely taking the catamaran, and fun evening. Instead we realized too late this was a full on 'booze cruise'. They really push drinks and loud music. Once on the island it's a jaunt to the show, which we felt was just okay. Then you are shown to your table, a server took your drink order, which took forever to arrive, then we were shown to the buffet. The food was ordinary, the guests were rude, and the experience was like being in a cafeteria. The boat ride back was HORRIBLE! Loud music, drunk passengers, with many actually throwing up over the side of the boat! Nothing romantic about heaving sounds and the smell of vomit. For the money we paid it was by far the worse experience.

Ive been here a few times but havent been since 2021. The pool is new since they changed it. Honestly its far worse than it used to be. The pool was much better but it just needed an update. Now its just bland and beige.
Nice video.

No Elite club, save ur $$$, not worth it for 1,000
RIU Palace it’s not in Puerto Vallarta!!!
Yep, it's in Nuevo Vallarta/Nayarit 👍
Great video
