Didn’t expect Consort Lian to commit suicide.. I thought she’d want to collect the nine pebbles to turn back time, reset the universe using Qing Chen and reunite with the former emperor.
This episode was WOW! Spoiler alert! - Bravo to the Emperor for his acting skills because that confrontation with Consort Lian was so intense! Also, I was shocked that she committed suicide because I thought she was a fighter... even if she hated the Emperor greatly, she should have lived to ensure that Yuan Ling would succeed to the throne, especially after all the effort and crazy ish that she did. - Yuan Ling and Qing Chen’s reunion was so underwhelming! After their fight in the previous episode, I expected a super heartfelt exchange, especially since they didn’t get to say goodbye to each other when he left for war and how she came there to be with him after just escaping death!! Such a letdown!! - I can see why some people were angry about the hug between Yuan Ling and the desert princess... we got to see how deeply she loved Yuan Ling, but the way this scene was shot, the caring exchange of words (simple, but impactful), and the physical contact between them definitely gave off a sense of mutual affection and not just a one-sided love from the princess. I mean, she practically embraced him in her arms with their faces only inches apart and he welcomed it 100%. In my opinion, if he met the princess first before Qing Chen, he would have definitely fallen in love with her. If Yuan Zhan hugged Qing Chen like this, I’m sure Yuan Ling would have been very upset. - God of War lived up to his name - that fight scene was so freakin’ epic!!!

The stunt/action director of this series is so awesome! I read on wiki it was the same team from the movie Crouching Tiger Hidden dragon, maybe I’m mistaken.
People were confused about why she killed her self but .i thought she made it clear that it was a contest of wills. The Emperor commanded that she live and she was going to show him that she and not he had control over whether she lived or dies. I think the whole think regarding getting all the pebbles to use to see the previous Emperor again was a dream fir her and not something real. Also, she wanted Ling to take the throne but Ling had made it very clear that he was loyal and he would not usurp the throne like she wanted. So...in the end she leaves the outcome of that up t9 Ling and defies the Emperor by taking her life.
Thank you for explaining to those who only watch it for the action but miss the underlying messages. Additionally, she would have went ahead to get all the pebbles had she not been caught. But her secret was exposed by Prince Zhan's mother to the Emperor. She knew then she had lost when her position was blown wide open. As a player in this "GO" board, once she lost, her final move is to give up the "pebble." How symbolic is that? Do you people even know good drama? Cheers to the writers who drummed up this phenomenal story.
