Agree totally nothing worse than screaming kids. Been saying for years put kids and family's together in sections in the plane and cordon off from people who want a peaceful flight. First airline to do that will be a great success and even if they charge slightly more.
also a good tip for you all . i fly usually from European airports its make business class cheaper a cheap flight from UK to a hub in europe then business class from there can be a little bit of a mess around but cheaper and you dont mind when your saving £1000 and sometimes more just a little hint for ya
Nice little story. About 20 yrs ago I was flying back to the UK from Bangkok economy class and thought I had time to claim my VAT back in the airport etc, while I was doing this I kept hearing over the tannoy 'can Mr Hugez please go to gate ble ble ble' they kept repeating this for quite a long time and I remember thinking this Spanish passenger is going to miss his flight. They said final call for passenger Hugez and I remember chuckling to myself thinking this spanish guy is going to miss his flight. Anyway I start strolling towards the tv screens to check my gate etc and start casually making my way when I'm met by some out of breath thai airways employee wanting to see my ticket. She said come on Mr Hugez run!!! We have upgraded you to business class at the front of the plane. I said I'm not Mr Hugez I'm Mr Hughes!! What an idiot, I had no idea the guy I was chuckling at for quite some time was me!! Anyway I got my flight and really enjoyed my only time in business class!! That too was Thai airways Bangkok to London direct
And remember everyone that while the flight may seem expensive, you are only making the decision on the difference between Business Class and Economy Class (the price for which you'd be paying anyway). Depending on how full the flight is, you might get an upgrade if you have a frequent flier card, arrive early, dress well ( eg slacks, shirt, jacket ) and ask politely. It's worked for me where I was on the plane and seated in economy just before take off. The air hostess said she needed a word and brought me back to the galley. She asked for my boarding card stub, and exchanged it for one in business class. I thanked her, and I said I got the message to be discreet about changing seats, so just got my carryon bag, and quietly moved up front without saying anything to the person I had been sat beside. Result !
Czech bound Spot on my son no football shirt and shorts unless your in a team that's paying for the trip. Dress smart nobody paying full price would want a guy looking like that in the business class seat snobbery I know but a fact from those who travel and pay regularly and find out you been jacked up from economy. Great way to travel and at present many empty seats on that class due to recession. And I'm sure when things turn nasty in country's seeing the rich get richer and the poor poorer things will become very hostile in the world not just uk . Luckily uk usually can contain itself as opposed to other country's and riots over basic things going up to be able to live.
Serious question: what constitutes “smart dress”? Pin stripe suit? Tie? Jacket with chinos? Deadly serious question. I wouldnt mind trying this, just dont want to turn up in a suit in Bangkok when its 80% humidity lol.
One thing you didn't mention is that when arriving in business class you can use the fast-track immigration line at the BKK airport, which is often much quicker than the regular line. They used to give you a special pass on the plane, but now you can use the line if you just show your boarding pass to prove you were in business class.
I was looking for the fast track lane at Bangkok but did not see it...I was not really that bothered as I landed at 06:05 so the airport was very quiet
@@ThailandBound Its really hard to find and they keep moving it but last month it was part of the major ramp but extreme right hand side and and a small sign but very hard to find (deliberately I think)
Thanks didnt know that. I remember in economy queuing for 45+ minutes to get through passport control and that was the same flight number peter used arriving at 6am.
Looks like flight TG911, early morning arrival in to Suvarnabhumi...... That's a pretty good price for business class these days. I have recently spent a month in Thailand, went with Qatar, only economy but we still had metal cutlery. I had 3 weeks in Pattaya then a week in Bangkok... met with Bangkok Pat a couple of times, and had a good roam around with him but now back in the cold, wet UK!.... Enjoy your new, warmer, life Peter.......
Business Class for a long haul flight like that is definitely worth it when you account for the priority check-in/security/lounge/boarding/food/service level etc.. it definitely takes the stress out of long-haul flying.. not to mention the higher luggage allowance!!
Hi Peter it's so nice that you made it safely and this looks like a great deal I'm glad you had fun thanks for your video and great job I can't wait until your live show
That looks fantastic Peter!!! Just spoil yourself and enjoy!!! You deserve it 😊😊😊 Hope to see you in Bangkok or Pattaya sometime. Cheers from a very hot and sunny Patong
Glad you enjoyed the flight. Looks worth the extra, might try it next time. All the best for your new start, stay safe and don't end up telling your own crash and burn story on a Saturday morning 😀
When I went last year I flew business class from Manchester with klm. First time I’ve ever done it and it was well worth it. I think one of the major selling points is the first in first out. I sailed through immigration at the other end and straight for a taxi
I recommend a lounge membership to anyone who travels even occasionally. Avoiding the usual discomfort and hassles of the airport experience is well worth it. Same goes for business class. People are always saying "air travel used to be a luxurious experience" but they don't realize very few people could afford to fly then. It still can be a luxurious experience but it comes at a price.
I fly business class and first class with many airlines and I like your report because it's your honest experience and not comparing with other airlines. Good job
Interesting video, I’m surprised you didn’t film the business class lounge on my next trip to Thailand . I will be doing exactly what you’re doing business class one way and economy plus on the return leg may be business class, but I was pleased that you did this video as it shows all the food on board. Thank you
Hi Pete. Nice, detailed upload and have a good representation of the Thai Airlines experience. I’m using Thai for my last minute trip to BKK from India, but as it’s just a 4 hour flight, I’m going economy. Look forward to seeing you next week. Cheers 🥂
It surprises me how many posters are envious of those travelling business or first class. Or they leave a brusque comment that Emirates or one of the other Middle Eastern carriers is better, forgetting to mention you have to change planes and that it's a much longer travelling time via Dubai or Abu Dhabi. Having flown Emirates, Etihad and Qatar Airways countless times, I'll take a direct flight to BKK over those airlines any day of the week. For me it's either EVA Air or Thai Airways.
Nice upgrade Peter I usually fly business class for work and on personal travel I use my frequent flyer status to upgrade. I seen RUclipsrs explain how to fly business class using rewards from their credit cards but I never really understood it. Anyways it's definitely a nice way to fly on a long ten hours flight.
Thai airways is very good, I'm coming from New York city and I usually go with Cathay pacific to hk then bkk, best of luck with your new life, I just came home from 6 weeks in Los, its still an amazing place
I flew in business class this last fall from United Sates to Amsterdam. I feel it is well worth the extra dollars to stretch out on the long flights. Hard to sit up for all these hours as you get older.
Great video thanks for uploading. I've just flown back from BKK to Helsinki. A350 Business Finnair. It was absolutely fine. I think you get more amenities and more food courses on the Thai airways trip. But all in all it looks similar and yes, I've always found the staff to be superb. When booking my business trips one thing I always look out for is the seat configuration. I book 1-2-1 thats the best if you're flying solo and looking to book a single seat. I flew back to the UK.from Doha on a A330 Qatar business flight last year and the seats were 2-2-2 I had a window seat and ended up stepping over the other passenger who was fast asleep on his flat bed to go to the toilet. Not ideal. Just one thing to look for, especially if you travel business many times. However, I must say, the Qatar Q Suite on the A777 is a really fab choice. I'm looking to return to BKK. in June this year, so I'll start the process of searching air travel prices again soon. Although like you say, air fares have increased dramatically, especially when flying up the front. Best wishes from me here, in Doncaster and Lam Luk Ka, Pathun Thani.
Well done Peter. Best of luck with your new life. Not an easy task selling up and moving to a new country. I'm really looking forward to future videos.
That's a improvement on the recent economy flight back from BKK, sat next to the woman with attitude and the unruly child. You made the right decision to change seats. Best of luck with your new chapter to the future.
The very best of luck Peter. Happy that you spoiled yourself on your bold journey to the orient. These little luxuries on big trips can make a big difference. Have a great new life!
I checked Seat Guru and looks like you were flying a Boeing 777-300ER….good plane. What I remember about Thai Business Class is that they carry everything out…not use carts. I will fly back to Bangkok from Miami on SWISS Business Class but now they have 8 hour wait in Zurich. I used to be able to take THAI from Zurich to Bangkok but that change would cost a fortune even though they are both Star Alliance members. Not cheap to fly now…I paid $5700 round trip this time vs. $4,000 a year ago. Qatar would be my first choice but that would be about $6700. Ouch !
Excellent video. Have made multiple trip SF-BKK on China Air Business. Anyone over 50 needs to try this at least once. Travel in Comfort. Many will refuse….
@ThailandBound well done peter. Lotsa men get fleeced after divorce by the system, lawyers, judges etc... It is nice to see that u made it through and can start a new life in Thailand. Well done 👍.
Enjoy it and have an enjoyable and relaxing flight. Best thing about not travelling economy is is the extra baggage allowance bigger reclining seats and not having to sit and queue up with the riffraff lol. You pays what you get and if you can afford why the hell not. Do as you please and enjoy, I know I do when I get the chance 👍🍻
I’m coming to Bangkok as you know Peter.. likely in a couple months. I think I will fly business now.. I like the lay down seat… it’s a long flight for me coming from the USA
Thanks for this. Nice to know that Thai business class is still good. I flew economy with them back in February and their service was quite poor compared to how they used to be Pre Covid. I found a one way BC class with Thai, Bangkok - London for £1519 which I might take up now.
Hi Peter well plan well done life is too short we all need good memories to talk about it for years to come. You are in good trac so far so good, well come back to Thailand . Cheers
the biggest reason i have never been to Thailand is the grueling flight where i cant stretch out.Ive never seen business class before. That looks like fun.i need dental work.ill bet what i can save having it done in thailand would pay for the trip
@@ThailandBound dental work in Thailand is top class and about a third of the price as in the USA or UK. I live in Thailand for many years and the best Dentist for which I had 2 implants and full service is Bangkok. However, I have experienced some 2nd class dentistry. So I recommend doing some research before the work is done.
I traveled to Thailand 10 times Yes 10-12 hours flight is a nightmare, but i always think about the good Food, Nice weather helps me true it. Cheers from Norway
@Terje Andreassen 10 to 12 hours is a gift. My journey is at least 21 hours, and I can't sleep on flights. But somehow, I get my 2nd wind upon arrival. Funny how that works 😂.
Yep, yep. On short flights I don't really mind, but anything more than two or three hours and business/first class really makes a flight enjoyable. Deffo worth it if it is within your budget and it looked like you got quite a lot of bang for your buck.
Looked good. I'd definitely use the reclining seat and sink one or two G&Ts. Everyone is entitled to the occasional splurge. I've only travelled cattle class. One of these days I may take the plunge and indulge myself.
Just took this flight and landed this morning in BKK (April 10, 2023). Overall it was a good flight with excellent service, good food and decent in-flght entertainment. However, as far as business class seats go, these are some of the hardest and most uncomfortable I've experienced in probably the last 10 years. My back is absolutely killing me and I've been on the ground for 14 hours since landing! The THAI biz calss seats do not compare to other top business class seats such as those from Qatar, Singapore Airlines, (even EVA), JAL and ANA. However, for a non-stop flight from LHR to BKK, it is pretty hard to beat.
You only live once! Thanks for sharing. I think it is about time they upgrade the seats like Finnair have done. But always nice with business, its almost "stress free".
I just booked my flight a few weeks ago with emirates from Heathrow for 6 weeks over xmas I paid £1350 pound I that’s just for economy flex plus It’s the most Iv ever paid but not bother not been to Thailand since before covid so looking forward to it 🍻🍻🥳🥳🤣😂
Glad you enjoyed your flight in business class instead of cattle erm.....I mean economy. I fly Qatar In economy (not to bad because the flights in two halves)
That a great video Peter not drinking in day time 11.30 am in UK is 5.30pm in Thai time it almost evening can't wait to go back to Philippines in late September
Just flew back from Bangkok last week (Cattle class) with Thai Airways, the plane was a visibly old 777 with hard seats, outdated in-flight entertainment system that barely worked and very little leg room and even the business cabin looked dated, which meant one of the worst long haul flight ive ever been on for over 12 hours of hell so going to try a different airline when I go back. Good luck Pete in Thailand, I will be doing the same trip in September.
If you want to fly directly not stop off in Europe or the Middle East you're going to have to fly Thai Airways or Eva Airways, they now dominate the London to Bangkok route
£2.2K Business class one-way. I hope you got your monies worth. For me £600 in a corner window seat economy class + 50p 25mg of diazepam would be just as good
Hi Peter, I'm due to travel to Thailand on the 5th and I have seen a couple of website issuing warnings about how safe Thailand is at this moment. What is the local media showing atm?
I was just there at the end of Feb and beginning of March and i never felt unsafe. There are streets i walked in Bangkok and Chaing Mai that i wouldn't walk in the city I live in here in the US.
Peter can you tell us by how many minutes your flight departure from Heathrow was delayed by and whether the economy cabin was full? I'm flying EVA economy from LHR soon
Thai Airways and Eva Airways now dominate London to Bangkok the flights are always full to capacity with no spare seats the flight time out is about 11 and 1/2 hours return is 12 1/2 hours because of headwinds
@@ThailandBound Thanks Peter but I wanted to know how many minutes late your flight departed from LHR against the official departure time. This is in case my National Express coach arrives at LHR late due to traffic.
Experienced club class when I used o fly down to Phucket from Bangkok on Thai Airlines used to be not much difference in price onl a short flight but seats which go to a bed that was the main attraction
Used to fly emirates business on the A380 to Bangkok, however they doubled price to £4k so no way! Used Swiss air last year business rtn was £1790. In Feb I decided to take two trips a year so cut back & tried EVA premium economy out on a night flight which was great, I slept most of it………however I came back in economy NEVER AGAIN! 13 hours of hell! And the reason I never flew direct after my first trip in 2001. I’m back to Pattaya in October on EVA out prem econ again & back in business for £2330 it was £600 more than prem economy so I owe that myself after the horror of suffering flying with the crates of chickens at the back…..and I’ve never been served a shot of red wine in cardboard cup as I was then. And a big thank you to B&O noise cancelling headphones as I could see 3 babies screaming.
My last Thai Airways flight from LHR to BKK was in 2018 and cost £520 .. as it’s a direct flight it was actually more expensive than many other airlines who would include a stopover or even 2.. The current cost of nearly all long haul air travel is almost obscene , as the airlines have obviously realised that a lot of people who loved to travel pre-Covid, are still into it..a friend over here just paid £1500 for his Thai mother in law to fly here in Thai Airways economy class.. and that was travelling before the Easter holidays and she’s returning after the holidays are over.. Btw Peter , I haven’t stayed at the Heathrow Sheraton, but I have stayed at the Sheraton at Brussels airport , and the room and public areas were all too warm , and I couldn’t turn the aircon down to a cooler temperature.. it’s a pretty shitty company policy imho .. 🙏
Yes, I paid £950 for my return flight on Thai Airways which I booked 2 months ago. Until more airlines resume flying to BKK (such as BA) prices will be at a premium.
I know your rule about day drinking. But… BUT… As you was going ‘HOME’ it was really 7pm plus when you started on the champagne! You just forgot to put to watch to Thailsnd time. So, NO rules broken.
You've inspired me, on my next flight I'm going to splash out, and turn left when I'm boarding, instead of turning right, to a seat that I know is going to be as comfortable as a park bench.
There is no 'turning left' anymore .... unless you are the pilot! 😂 ..... Even for first-class you turn right on Thai's new 777's. You have to walk through first to get to business.... ! ... I remember the days when you had to go upstairs and then turn left to get to your first class seat but those days are gone forever...
Enjoyed following your trip home business class. Personally, I wouldn't go for it myself because all it takes is for a noisy family with an infant to sit nearby. However, I would pay extra to gurantee no noisy passenger onboard though.
I did many BC flights back and forward for my work with Singapore Airlines. To the point that I thought it would be difficult to return to Economy for intercontinental private travels. Not at all, I love Economy. Also better for potential social chats. Now, I did some private travels to Thailand in BC when I was in a bad medical condition (with temporary stent in my body), expensive but worth every penny in that condition. Otherwise, no in my opinion.
I was looking at business class fly from Manchester the cheapest was £3500 return with Turkish and a layover which don't bother me. I looked from Dublin cheapest was £2300 return with Turkish and Qatar was a little over £2500. A cheap hop across Dublin for £100 return would be worth it to save £1000-£1500
I think the fact that you've a got a lot more leg room and space in business class is a big draw card, as well as the added privacy. It makes the flight much more comfortable; worse being cramped in a narrow Economy seat for 9--12 hours, squashed like a sardine. 🐟
Great video, I have flown BC with Thai on the big Air Bus they have now discontinued, really enjoyed it. Flying out this christmas 2023 in economy ☹️ pondering an upgrade which is £1000 for one way, pricey but nice.
strange question....if you was never to return to the UK and someone asked you what was your last memory of being in the UK, would you say Heathrow Airport.....
The only problem with flying business class is you will never want to fly economy class again!
Very good video Peter. I'll have to go Business Class one day. Looks so relaxing, and no screaming babies nearby. 👍

Yes you should try to save another areas it's definitely worth spending on the flight
How I wish I was you Peter! enjoy the new life and look forward to further videos 👍
Thanks 👍
Great video Peter glad you enjoyed it. I thought you would 👍🏼😉regards damon
I did, cheers
Thanks for this. Nice to know that Thai business class is still good. I flew economy with them back in February and their service was quite poor compared to how they used to be Pre Covid. I found a one way BC class with Thai, Bangkok - London for £1519 which I might take up now.
That's a good price I paid 2K when I came over for one way
Good Video Peter 😊. I think I will go that way. Moving to the Philippines 🇵🇭 this year in June.
Stay Safe 💕 💞 🙏 🙏
All good peter as you say ,prices are up & a nice treat , I done 9yr ago today diff airline, enjoy
Glad your house sale went through and you’re back where you want to be. Look forward to business as usual.
Thanks so much!
Hi Peter well plan well done life is too short we all need good memories to talk about it for years to come. You are in good trac so far so good, well come back to Thailand . Cheers
Thanks 👍
the biggest reason i have never been to Thailand is the grueling flight where i cant stretch out.Ive never seen business class before. That looks like fun.i need dental work.ill bet what i can save having it done in thailand would pay for the trip
The dental work in Thailand is top class and about a third of the price of the UK
I traveled to Thailand 10 times
Yes 10-12 hours flight is a nightmare, but i always think about the good Food, Nice weather helps me true it.
Peter , good luck to you I loved the video it all looked fabulous
Looked good. I'd definitely use the reclining seat and sink one or two G&Ts. Everyone is entitled to the occasional splurge. I've only travelled cattle class. One of these days I may take the plunge and indulge myself.
You should treat yourself at least once.
You only live once...nice gift to yourself Peter.
I’m glad you enjoyed your flight & I hope it works out for you in Thailand.
As I said in the upload I bought nothing else to compare it with I thought it was pretty good for a first time experience
Nice Post my son and enjoy your trip. Life's short and hope your place got sold and enjoy your money back in Thailand.
Well done son, folding your knife and fork properly after finishing your main course. 👍
You only live once! Thanks for sharing. I think it is about time they upgrade the seats like Finnair have done. But always nice with business, its almost "stress free".
Thanks for watching!
I just booked my flight a few weeks ago with emirates from Heathrow for 6 weeks over xmas I paid £1350 pound I that’s just for economy flex plus It’s the most Iv ever paid but not bother not been to Thailand since before covid so looking forward to it 🍻🍻🥳🥳🤣😂
I heard Peter took a taxi (Apple) directly from the airport to the nearest soapy sandwich parlor... just like me...
You'd think the wi-fi would be free to business class customers.
Glad you enjoyed your flight in business class instead of cattle erm.....I mean economy. I fly Qatar In economy (not to bad because the flights in two halves)
Looking like a baller there Peter! How much was a ticket? Oh I love that cheese dish!
For me £600 in a corner window seat economy class + 50p 25mg of diazepam would be just as good
You won't get direct for £600 right now, more like 1k
Then we wouldn't have got the chance to see this video of what it is like, thoughraly enjoyed this upload, cheers to a new life🎉
I'm with you on that one 👍
500 to 600 economy 1 way
25mg of diazepam is quite a dose.
Hi Peter, I'm due to travel to Thailand on the 5th and I have seen a couple of website issuing warnings about how safe Thailand is at this moment. What is the local media showing atm?
Don't believe it in Thailand is very safe for visitors
I was just there at the end of Feb and beginning of March and i never felt unsafe. There are streets i walked in Bangkok and Chaing Mai that i wouldn't walk in the city I live in here in the US.
Biggest danger is the air quality
You were on a Star Alliance carrier hence the availability of the Singapore Kris lounge. You picked the best one .
hi peter well done to you enjoy ,and happy retirement in thailand
Yes, thank you
Class ! Enjoy being back to your new home!
great video Peter, I think its worth it if you can, especially on the flight back.
@@markkubis5640 assume zero minutes late departing fgs.....arrive earlier!
Treat yourself Peter , ive done B class 3 times from Manchester to BKK , twice with Etihad and once with Qatar
Experienced club class when I used o fly down to Phucket from Bangkok on Thai Airlines used to be not much difference in price onl a short flight but seats which go to a bed that was the main attraction
Glad you arrived safely Peter
Great video hopefully one day I will be in that seat
You should!
But…
BUT…
As you was going ‘HOME’ it was really 7pm plus when you started on the champagne!
Thanks for sharing Khun Peter & welcome home krup ❤
Good on you for treating yourself Peter. Like you said its your final trip. 👍
Thanks 👍
Great video Peter 👍
Thanks 👍
Enjoyed following your trip home business class. Personally, I wouldn't go for it myself because all it takes is for a noisy family with an infant to sit nearby. However, I would pay extra to gurantee no noisy passenger onboard though.
Last flight Munich to BKK there were 4 children in business and 2 of them were small babies, they were very quiet luckily
Flying in style Peter , think I’d prefer that with 11.5 hour flight 🍻👍🏻
Was on that same flight before Covid - so glad they brought the A380 back online. I got to fly their 747 to shanghai then too
I think the fact that you've a got a lot more leg room and space in business class is a big draw card, as well as the added privacy.
If you can afford it I would definitely do it it's worth it
strange question....if you was never to return to the UK and someone asked you what was your last memory of being in the UK, would you say Heathrow Airport.....
No I would say the weather
