I was Peter Lalor. We spent a total of 6 months on this production. A most wonderful time in my Army service and life. I had no training for this role, I did what I did. Still, it was passable for a 24 year old that was a dedicated soldier, not a performer.. I was glad for the opportunity and made so many friends. Sorry for my poor showing. We started in Sydney and then went around Australia finishing in Canberra. 3 months on the road. By Land, Air and Sea. It was a majestic feat of logistics alone. I wish all who served on that fantastic journey my blessings. It was simply fantastic.
The Army Tattoo 88 wasn’t just performed once, it was taken on the road, and naval ship on tour around the country, the extras showed them packing up as soon as they closed so they could get back on the road. It was a truly amazing feet. When I was a child I saw the cavalcade on the highway, even when you thought it had passed there was more trucks and vehicles with the 88 banner. It was truly amazing.
I was a piper with the Pipes & Drums of The Royal Australian Corps Of Transport that joined the massed pipes & drums for the Perth performances of the Tattoo. I still remember the dates. October 18th to 22nd 1988 Burswood dome. I was and still am very proud to be a part of Army Tattoo 88. Thanks for the upload Davy.
