Hard pick! I think my personal favorite were your two dungeon stacker videos, not because of how awesome dungeon stackers are, but more because that video taught me to think more modularly. Your torment build! Both inspirational and uplifting of crossing the challenge called creative block. If I ever get a bigger space set up, I'm definitely going for the method of just throwing stuff together! Thank you for that series and I can't wait to see the plague city.
I loved that little staircase diorama. Follow up: it might be fun to do a "bottom 10", what you least enjoyed to make, or didn't like the final result!

Well, almost the same because Anything Nurgle has zero chance to make it to my favorites, but yes, like "Oh yes i loved that one!" repeated over and over, and he could have continued for 20 more and have about the same result :D
Was really refreshing to have this kind of slow, contemplative episode and listen to your thoughts about the projects, kind of a rewind of what you've worked on over the years. Knew that Shipwreck Cottage would make it here! Though expected it to be a little higher on the list 😄 Happy to see Torment around the top, I believe that's a project you needed to make at that right time, so it's totally justified.
I think my favorites are: 1. Hag's Hut (surprised not to see it on the list, but it's really hard to pick 10 out of all those awesome builds) 2. Cyberpunk Diorama (you should certainly make more cyberpunk stuff!) 3. Shipwreck House
"I look at it and it makes me smile" - such an awesome response to your own work and many of us have the same I'm sure... thanks for the videos throughout the channel history - looking froward what ever may come next :)
I haven’t RPG gamed in over 30 years, but watching your videos has gotten my into terrain building. It’s great to wake up or get home from work and be excited to work on that next project. Looking back on something you created and it makes you happy... that’s the pay off, that’s what it’s all about. Thank you!
My guess pre-watch: That tentacle Lovecratian thing. Based on nothing more than the fulfillment you seemed to get from making it, how proud you were of how it came out, and the fact that it was for a campaign that you and your players were clearly really into! Edit: Well at least it made the list.
Modular terrain tiles. The thing that got you started down this amazing and generous adventure. Thank you for all of your favorites and everything that ended up filler, in the bin, or what is to come!
I actually want to really thank you. I got into crafting a bit this last year and don't think I would have if it wasn't for your channel. I even followed your links and got a lot of the starting stuff you reccommend, and whipped up my own jar of blackend modpodge and blackwash. I started with two action figures actually, the Mcfarlane Primaris figures. I coated one in grime, and dirt, and heavier armour and grew a tree out of his back, and converted him into this old nurgle chaos marine "So blessed, that nurgle planted a seed from his garden in this champions heart" And really, blending in plants, and fungus, and a dead tree INTO a character was just really fun! My second Primaris I am doing a lot cleaner, following some painting guides for miniatures but blown up a lot bigger, and I am painting him as a Lieutenant of the fourth company in the Exorcists chapter. Both of them are almost finished, and just waiting for the spring when its warm enough to clear coat them with the spray I got, and assemble them. I haven't been this creative since high school almost a decade ago, and I've really missed it. So thank you so much for inspiring me, helping me get a feel for how to do things, and being an inspiration. Once my work is done, I'll send in some pics to your channels facebook!
I think your work is one of the most inspiring of all I can find online. You explain so well when you're crafting something, also include your mistakes and process of thoughts in your videos. Not only it helps but I rewatch them often to motivate me, to see that it's just a part of the way and that I'm learning from them. You're so creative and not scared to try new things or explore new universes. I was scared my whole life doing things I wouldn't master on the first attempt. Keep going ! I can see it's truly a passion for you. It brings us joy, will to do things, try, explore. All of this to say your passion made me try to make my own little place. It's a tiny 6 centimeters tall gazebo painted in red, that I suspended over my desk. That's fun because I'm normally sewing costumes, but, doing this new thing made me so proud of myself and helped me find my creativity back. So thank you for sharing your passion with us o/
I am very proud of my Hagrids Hut and the Burrow dioramas from HP series! I put so much love into them and learned a lot during the way. It was such a satisfying progress for me. Thank you so much for teaching me so many great things and motivating me!
Sharing is always great! you have been an inspiration and video friend for 3 years and I think that it's great that you continue to share your trials and tribulations with your community to let us know, that even though we all are different we all seem to follow the same challenges. Your example has always been a good one thank you so much!
my favorite build from you has to be "The Shack", those kinds of old abandoned farm buildings are all over the place where i live, and seeing them gives me a strange sense of "home", you managed to perfectly captured their look and feel in that build.
This list is like a tour of awesomeness! So many amazing builds, fantastic techniques, with excellent instruction and inspiration! My personal favorites were the Torment build and the shipwreck cottage.
I love that little vampire diorama. It feels like you caught the light and atmosphere and mood of that imagined scene with your brush. I can certainly see why you're so proud of it.
You got me. At first I thought it was going to be a surprise fundamental element like your tiles or stackers just because of the usefulness and the likely amount of use they got from your fanbase. But once you started ranking them and I saw how you were grading, I thought it was going to be a diorama piece but not that one. I had forgotten about that one, honestly. And while I admit it was not one I would have picked from your vast repertoire of work, the title was YOUR favorite. So who can argue with that. :) Regardless of us agreeing on your best work or not, one thing is not to be unsaid and that is you have given us a TON of great work and I look forward to more. I have completely remodelled an entire quarter of my house around building myself a makerspace just so I can do some of the things you have shown me. I hope that gives you some idea how influential you have been on your fan base. Thank you. Now get back to work. :)
Jeremy, it took me a while to find it but I did. Episode 15 (yeah, 4+ years ago) you described the City Gate as the most favorite piece you ever did. LOL My how times have changed when that did not even make your top ten today. :)
My favorite BMC build? Anything where you make a major mistake and own it. Every video where that happens is such a great learning experience and also a reminder to stay humble and accept that mistakes happen
Okay, paused after a minute, I'm gonna go on a limb here and guess that your favorite build is actually the basic dungeon tiles that you did years ago, that kinda launched your channel it feels like. Let's see if I'm right.
Yeah I was thinking the dungeon tiles for Frostgrave or the Tudor houses that had actual plaster walls. I guess it's a case of when you develop your skills to the point where you hate your earlier work.
Never sell yourself short I've been watching you for years now and you have really inspired me to make some awesome builds for my play group and i view you in the same level as even the great Adam Savage. You are a great Maker and don't let anyone tell you otherwise, even yourself. My personal favorite is your under dark terrain, the simplicity really blew me away with how great they look.
Dude!!!!! 100000% what you do is art. Sculpting, painting, crafting...... Story telling is an art form also.... Don't sell yourself short man. Always so good.
I was utterly shocked that the BMC Chapel didn’t make this list. That one was iconic for the channel. However after seeing the 10 builds on this list, I suppose that really just shows how far you’ve grown as a builder and creator. You have an absolutely amazing channel Jeremy, keep it up man!
It was your "The Mandalorian" build that actually got me motivated enough to start in this hobby, and actually subscribe to this channel, which is the first RUclips channel I ever subscribed to.. It got me to make a similar diorama, but at a larger scale for my Star Wars Black Series 6 inch figures. So I was very glad to see it pop up in this countdown, and thank you for re-igniting my imagination.
I guessed the mandalorian diorama. I still remember how proud, enthusiastic, happy you sounded in that video. But all these are great! Thanks for sharing them with us.
Have you considered doing a playlist of all of your dioramas? I don't game anymore because of the time commitment and the pandemic, but building dioramas for display seems like a rewarding hobby. Pulling the content together and moving in that direction in the future might be something worth exploring. Maybe dioramas you could take apart and use as modular terrain? I haven't seen that done on any other channel. Thanks again, I love watching this channel!
I loved every one of these... and now i have added all of them to my "watch later" playlist. Gonna be my little project for the weekend, watching -and re-watching all of them. Great video man, thanks for the awesome quality content you provide!
My favorite build that I've done is actually one of yours. I built the rocks that have the skulls in them. I made a whole game boards worth of them just to throw around. I added my own little twist on them but absolutely love them. Thanks, Jeremy for being some inspirational to everyone. Keep up the hard work.
I'm a fine art major who's been doing "traditional" art since I was a kid. NEVER let anyone try to convince you that this isn't art. You're painting, you're sculpting, you're using your creative expression to make scenes and tell stories. Especially your number one pick- you set that up and created it in much the same way I do my drawings or paintings. Hell, I don't even make set pieces because I play my d&d online, I'm literally here because of my interest in your art.
After watching all your videos and pausing this one to not cheat, I would have to say your miniature Vampire diorama around the top bc of how animated and happy you were when you created it, how it came together and how amazing it was completely done.
I agree, out of all the ones you showed, that Vamp is the best one. I think it's because it tells a story with so little, it's easy to tell a story with lots going on on a kit/build/diorama, but when you do it with less you start highlighting the little details that show the tale.
Loved the wrap up and thought process behind each item. But what really makes this video a winner for me was the Carl Sagan quote about creating the universe. Well done! Keep up the amazing and inspiring work!
I legit guessed the vampire build at the start of the video. I remember watching it and you saying it was one of your favorite builds at the time. Cheers!
I definitely assumed the tiger diorama would have been your favourite build, but I can totally see how your actual #1 resonates with you. Thanks for sharing this! It was awesome to go back with you and reflect on all these excellent builds
I arrived a bit late to the party, but my favourite painted piece is a tiger monk that I first saw here on your channel. I love tigers and thought that was my dream mini. So, I bought the .stl file, asked for a friend to print it, and painted the mini with a smaill enviroment (I don't know if it should be called "diorama"), like in a dojo with paper doors. I'm really proud of it and I always show it to the people that asks about my minis. Thanks for all the inspiration!
I LOVE this video! We get to see a different side of you. You're one of your most aggressive critics and it saddens me to know you're so hard on yourself with your craft. Seeing this video, and watching you glow about everything you're PROUD of is amazing.
I'm an artist and it really is really a very special feeling when you created something that you are so happy with everytime you look at it and inspires you like what he said. I have wasted a lot of time not doing my art and it is just now that I am giving it more time and passion so thank you very much for this. It is very inspiring.
great choices of your top 10. recently I have gone through all my terrain, scatter and dioramas - I literally had to declutter some stuff and I threw out or donated the better stuff to a gaming group. The faves I kept though and they are the most versatile. A ship - Has basic layout and I can change the figure head and layout when I want. A tower building complex - I can make one big building/ several small buildings or some different half size buildings. I can mix and match all of it making it different every-time. some of it is round others are square. My swing bridge - not versatile but it is great to look at and is impressive every-time I put it on the table. Rest of it is all reusable scatter terrain that I can use in any situation
It’s hard to pick a favorite, because all of your work is so fantastic and each piece teaches me something, but I think my top build of yours is the crooked hut with the roof that looks like the sorting hat. The shape is interesting, and it’s so perfectly finished!
I understand why you placed your dioramas so highly - but honestly my favorite things you do are all the small modular and scatter bits - things like the modular walls, those underdark rock formations, the modular pine trees, the necron stackers - brilliantly simple, and very well designed. While the final look of your pieces are on par with any other youtuber, I think your ability to design is second to none when it comes to actual gaming pieces. You really deserve all the success you've had with the channel!
enjoyed watching all these builds over the years. this channel is the one that really made me want to start a channel of my own. looking forward to many more great videos.
I personally love the Vampire so much that I've been working on two scenic based vampires from Avatars Of War, which were inspired by your video. Keep it up man, I work full time as an engineer and your videos are currently my only breaks in my evenings due to Uni work. This past month your videos have stopped me loosing my mind and relax... and also force me to set 15 minutes aside to pick up my tools/brushes for a post study wind down.
I thought FOR SURE that Torment would be your #1, Jeremy. Well done on such an impressive collection! Glad to have been along for the ride for nearly every one of these!
Kudos brother! They look great! I never saw the vampire piece before, looks great. I've been building terrain for decades & I still learn a lot on this channel. Keep up the good work!
Two thoughts: Yes please another Mandalorian diorama. Second, it was really neat to see such genuine pride over and joy in your projects. It reminds me to take time for hobbies because I want to smile like that :)
I would love to see your take on a really big dragon or such! Your newfound painting style i.e. airbrushing skills w/ zenithals and inks + drybrushing translates to amazing results on larger minis!
I haven't built any terrain yet, and the few woodworking projects I've built are good in the way that it's good to finish any project. The thing that I am most proud of isn't a built or crafted physical thing. I am most proud of thinking up, outlining, and creating my own complete class for DND, including 3 subclasses and 22 spells that are on theme. It was back breaking, demoralizing and took forever, but I love what it turned out to be. I'm currently playing one now from Level 1, and I'm super excited to see how it plays, and how it changes with testing, and it is far and away what I am the most proud of creating.
Everything you've done is very inspiring! My wife and I both watch your channel, and are looking to start one of our own. I'm also working on creating my own game now. We're crafting terrain based on your work for our own gaming, and you has been very inspirational to us. Thank you! Keep going!
I loved the Falling Down diorama. When you posted that video I was blown away. I remember seeing that movie in the theater and nobody else saw it. Such a cool weird random exploration.
My favorite build of my own, is my big Miniature 1:12 house,I used over 13 years to make it, and I’m still putting details into it now and then, so I’m not sure it will ever be all done. I loved the video of you making the vampyer on the stairs, well I love all your dioramas. Thank you for all your awesome videos. Eventhoug I’m building an making things in 1:12 scale, you do have a lot of cool tecknickes, that I can use in my builds, so I love your videos, as they do inspire me
I am relatively new to your channel but find it and you extremely entertaining. I started my creative building with RC cars and crawlers, shifted gears after the release of a particular vehicle which transitioned me into Diorama building. It is intriguing that you are most proud of you diorama style builds, it might due to previous commentary about your desire for personal growth but still within the boundaries of your channel? I must admit i have minimal interest in desktop gaming however that does no diminish my interest in your skills or craft. I am building in 1/6 scale which is far larger than the scale that you work in but i still find your channel insightful for my creative process. Congratulations to your open and honest approach makes your channel a joy to behold.
Lovely video, I definitely wouldn’t have guessed the Vampire Diorama, but it certainly makes a lot of sense. I loved its simplicity when you first released the video and was inspired by how much story could be conveyed with a smaller build. Capturing the story in a diorama is always a lovely challenge. I just finished making a Kill Bill diorama, forced me to try new techniques and incorporate elements I’ve never used when crafting. Diorama making is such a great way to build new skills in our hobby.
My favourite terrain piece that I have made is a carboard crate that I heavily weathered. The streaks through the white stenciled letters make it look amazing. I also like a graveyard diorama I am making, but I haven't finished that yet.
It's always interesting that how differently the maker judges or sees the creations from the observers. The maker's point of view is very personal, and it was great to hear these thoughts. And at least one of my favorites, the shipwreck cottage made it on to the list! :D
I understand why you picked that, some pieces just turn out what you were picturing in your head, some of my favorite ones I've done are the smallest! Have a good weekend!
Good to have a mini-retrospective - it's prompted me (+ others?) to go back and look at some of the videos we hadn't opened. Among the builds in the videos I've watched, I'd definitely award a special rosette to the shack - that one is good. Keep at it - you make great things, and it's always a pleasure to watch and listen to you presenting your Doings (you're shockingly good at that too). All best from the land of the colonial oppressor.
Wow, we are honored for this Jeremy! Some times the simplest ideas can have a lot of passion and love! You are doing a very inspiring work! Keep it up! Cheers! :)
You have really evolved from a builder that wasn’t interested in building things without gaming purpose to being an artist. Yes, you are an artist. The favorite things I’ve seen from you have been the creative process and the visible enjoyment you’ve had while creating your dioramas and pieces that don’t necessarily have a gaming intent. Not that I think you were getting bored, necessarily, but I do sense a different you following liberation of your initial constrains when creating. Both definitely have their place, though, and the diversity fits you just fine. :)
Number 2 very cohesive, great use of models that one might feel like should be painted in 'more colors' but turns out, a set of terrain with that many interesting details brings alot to a table, and in a reasonable amount of time.
I wasn't super excited to watch this, but felt I should because I do like all your work. But I ended up loving watching it. :D Without the context of just having finished a build, it was a sheer delight to hear the pleasure in your voice as you spoke about why these were special to you. (Thank you. I felt kinda crappy waking up this morning, but the vicarious joy from you has perked me right up.)
I went all in with this hobby. Finally got a computer, I ordered 2 3d printers and a cure/wash station... can't wait to get muh stuff lol... love your builds bro. You have a good gig going for sure!
Great, great work, all of them. You have some serious skills. Thank you. My favourite builds of yours, are the Skull Stones - they look astonishing, and your 'Big Zombie Diorama'.
Guessed a few: Shipwreck, Cyberpunk, and Mandalorian diorama. Thought for sure the ruined crushed cabin from your local area would have been there in the top 3. It's so nice to look back on some of the projects you've done. You're really an artist even if you don't always feel that way.
Whenever I feel like I'm "cheating" but not being 100% from-scratch on any project, in any medium, I try to remember this quote: "I thought using loops was cheating, so I programmed my own using samples. I then thought using samples was cheating, so I recorded real drums. I then thought that programming it was cheating, so I learned to play drums for real. I then thought using bought drums was cheating, so I learned to make my own. I then thought using premade skins was cheating, so I killed a goat and skinned it. I then thought that that was cheating too, so I grew my own goat from a baby goat. I also think that is cheating, but I’m not sure where to go from here. I haven’t made any music lately, what with the goat farming and all." So stop goat farming and start making.
So, other than #10 (which is a great encapsulation of the 'anyone can build terrain' base premise of the channel), the common theme for the rest are projects that you tried something new, you pushed the envelope of your creativity (even Torment was that, by pushing past perceived 'constraints' about how or what to build). And what comes across to long time watchers is the joy that the dioramas gave you - not just in that they all involved something new in terms of skill/technique - but that they all tell a story. (and all your best videos tell a story, even if just the story of the build) Of ones that didn't make the list, I'd have to say the Reaper Shipwreck Revenant would be my favourite.
Yes! I was right on the top 1. I randomly watched that video last week and remembered how stoked you were. Also, I tried to LIKE the video at 3 different times. :) Fun videos like that make me smile!
I wouldn't have guessed that was your number one. But I know I really loved it, too. I find myself coming back to it when I think about some of your projects that I've watched.
My favourites are 1.Torment (all of it) 2.Vampire diorama 3.Hags hut 4.Tiger monk as it would have been with the water 5.Shipwreck hut 6.Cyberpunk diorama 7.Mandalorian diorama 8.Falling Down diorama 9.Modular stacking Mage tower 10.Mausoleum Generally I'm more drawn to the terrain and buildings over the minis, as that is where my crafting interests lie...but that might change!
The Mando/child video was my first of yours...quickly followed by the modular mage castle. LOVED THEM both and have now seen most of your others. Thank you for the inspiration. I’m going to make the modular mage tower for my youngest’s many GNOMES to sit on...

My guess as well.
I thought so too given it's the default video when visiting the channel.

Witch’s hut, Torment, Hellbrute, Dumpsters, Book nook, Eldritch Horror, the tiles that started the journey...
Well you got 4/6 of your guesses. Better than I did!
I just looked which ones I would love try my hand at first. Trouble is there are too many to choose from.
I love that little vampire diorama. It feels like you caught the light and atmosphere and mood of that imagined scene with your brush. I can certainly see why you're so proud of it.
Who would have guessed that watching your top ten would actually be a life lesson for artists...thanks for the inspiration🍁🍁
Great collection. You, Sir, are truly one of the Crafting Icons.
Jeremy! Really appreciate how you're being conscious of COVID restrictions and doing your best to keep your family and community safe!
Well, I’m Canadian 😉
Okay, paused after a minute, I'm gonna go on a limb here and guess that your favorite build is actually the basic dungeon tiles that you did years ago, that kinda launched your channel it feels like. Let's see if I'm right.
I was so sure this was gonna be it
@@The_DorkLord Me too! Just posted this as my guess above. :)
I love all of these! Channels like yours keep me feeling creative, thank you! 😊👍
I love Black Magic Craft. This channel definitely deserves more attention.
great choices of your top 10.
recently I have gone through all my terrain, scatter and dioramas - I literally had to declutter some stuff and I threw out or donated the better stuff to a gaming group.
Torment was totally my choice for number 1.
It is sooo inspiring, as are many (ok all) of your works!
Thank you for sharing your work!
Torment, is like a finely crafted block of flavor text made real. You don't have to describe the room the PCs are in. So cool
The dumpsters made it!!!! ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️ I love those.
I love your dioramas the most. I'd love to see more of those build videos, even more so than the terrain builds.
Two thoughts:
Yes please another Mandalorian diorama.
Thank you! Keep going!
"Lovin' that mod podge making things stiff". - Black Magic Craft, March 4, 2021
Okay my guess before watching, I'm thinking the Torment series
Edit: Darn, it was #2
#1 makes perfect sense. It's small but it has a large amount of technical detail in it!
My favourite terrain piece that I have made is a carboard crate that I heavily weathered. The streaks through the white stenciled letters make it look amazing. I also like a graveyard diorama I am making, but I haven't finished that yet.
You are absolutely right to be proud of those favorites, and I love your #1 choice.
The wizard's tower is one of my favorite builds. I also really like the shipwreck hut.
My guess for your favorite is the frost cathedral.
Number 2 very cohesive, great use of models that one might feel like should be painted in 'more colors' but turns out, a set of terrain with that many interesting details brings alot to a table, and in a reasonable amount of time.
I would have to say my favorite of yours is the torment build. I loved all of them.
Whenever I feel like I'm "cheating" but not being 100% from-scratch on any project, in any medium, I try to remember this quote:
"I thought using loops was cheating, so I programmed my own using samples. I haven’t made any music lately, what with the goat farming and all."
So stop goat farming and start making.
As an actual goat farmer, I'd say don't bother. Lolol
Great point though, I'm not sure I believe in cheating as far as "scratch built" anymore.
Speaking of good looking builds, your outfit in this vid is looking F-R-E-S-H 👌👌 glad to see some personal favorites made the top 10 cut!
in my opinion everything you make is a work of art. You are extremely creative.
I love the double sided floor tiles you did. There just awesome and expand the feel of D&D. I do love the cob webs on the vampire though, Awesome!
Anything someone creates out of thin air and someone else likes is art. Easy as that.
I wouldn't have guessed that was your number one. But I know I really loved it, too. I find myself coming back to it when I think about some of your projects that I've watched.
Falling Down is legit! Amazing piece!!
My favourites are
1.Torment (all of it)
2.Vampire diorama
3.Hags hut
4.Tiger monk as it would have been with the water
5.Shipwreck hut
6.Cyberpunk diorama
7.Mandalorian diorama
8.Falling Down diorama
9.Modular stacking Mage tower
10.Mausoleum
Generally I'm more drawn to the terrain and buildings over the minis, as that is where my crafting interests lie...but that might change!
I’ve loved watching you grow as a person and as a creator. Keep up the good work.
The Mando/child video was my first of yours...quickly followed by the modular mage castle. LOVED THEM both and have now seen most of your others. Thank you for the inspiration. I’m going to make the modular mage tower for my youngest’s many GNOMES to sit on...
Such an upbeat feel good video, really makes a guy want to start making! Thanks!
