I was the bass section leader here in this clip,; I can tell you personally how difficult that rhythm was for everyone to get. This also wasn't our best performance of this, but we were really glad with the sound on the stage we were on. Ah, memories...
this is to be honest the best version of this song on youtube. my choir is doing it this year and we sang through it a few times and its good to hear that we have are doing it right. the alto solo was amazing!!! other choirs dont do it solo and rush it. and it sounds bad. this doesnt! amazing job!
This is almost the only video on youtube that has the bass line with the correct rhythm. Most choirs sing the second "Judgement" on the "and" of 2. But it is written on the "a" of 2, a quarter of a beat later.
if you want to see another good version of this song, search Riverside City College Choir and look for the "Llangollen 2009 Youth Choir" video. Its the second song in the set.
i wish my choir had a recording of us singing this song so you could here it. our interpretations of it are similar, but vary slightly. we only have about 32 in our choir. look us up. we have like two or three vids on youtube. RCC Chamber Singers.
Thats really funny. Dr. Andre, the composers teacher said that we did it better then the composers choir when he adjudicated us in the fall last semester. I beg to differ i think its better than a lot of interpretations out there
Well when he heard us perform it at Fresno State, it sounded like he did. So I'm going off of what he said. Don't try to discredit me for something that someone else said. I hold Dr. Thomas at VERY high standards because I've sang under him at a All-State Convention.
Oklahoma All State and ohers also have good performances of this piece on youtube. The composer (Mark Butler) has a brand new arrangement of "Wade in the Water". It's pretty hot! But you'll need to have a good strong soloist with a pretty wide tessitura. His Kyrie is very nice as well. They can be heard on his publisher's web.
Okay. Well maybe you just thought he said that. We all make mistakes, that includes me as well, so no harm. But Dr. Thomas has never heard the composer's choir(s) perform this piece (if we're talking about Signs of the Judgement). Take care and best wishes!
I love the song. It's beautiful, even if I did almost have a stroke singing soprano 1 on it, Just one complaint...the girls are overwhelming the men and our six men managed to hold their own against 30 girls so it can be done you know.
Wow Hinoko007 Dr. Thomas has never heard the composer's choir sing this piece. Yes its a nice performance but either you lied on Dr. Thomas or he failed to tell the truth which is not like him! You'd be surprise who read comments on youtube. Stick to the truth. The composer's high school choir performed it 4 years ago at a national festival that they won first place. Dr. Thomas was not there to witness that great performance. Recently the composer's Unv. choir performed it in the Spring of 09.
