Since staying in Europe ( last winter, mostly in Scotland), I now receive a lot of British ads. Cute for awhile .But not sure why ,even after telling my android tablet I am back in the US, it still is happening. Just odd! Well, I skip a lot of ads as soon as possible. Weia
In a place a long time ago, when I was in high school, I worked for a local retailer. My starting pay was $1.10 per hour. I remember so clearly that when I reached $1,000 in my savings account, the branch manager and entire teller line cheered for me. Remember the old savings passbooks with the deposit amount, date stamp and teller's initials? The good old days.
How creepy and ironic that ads broke in just as you were in the middle of talking about them! I've noticed in the last month or so that we now have to listen/watch 2 ads in a row, whereas we used to only have one ad, like at the beginning of a YT video or in the progress of a video.
- Lately it’s been RUclips’s forced screen saver coming on that has many upset! I’d never thought I would be mad about unwanted lousy photos. - I hate the ads you talked about. It gets me all wrong too! AI is no solution for junk uses like this and investors better beware. - Old time trick: We used to call when we got to our destination but hang up after one ring. This alerted parents that we made it. No charge. - Granny and kids need to have a code word that you ONLY share face to face to agree what it is. Then NEVER share on phone or online. If you get a crazy call, ask for the code word. If they can’t say it, the end.
My kid started working at 15 making $12/hr and at 19 is making $20/hr. Been maxing out the Roth and paying their way through community college with plans to go-to the U for the remainder of the 4 year. All without touching a decent 529. If I do 1 thing it's to make sure my kid is on track to be a multi millionaire through slow disciplined investment before I check out
It’s kind of reassuring when they send me an ad for something I just bought bc I think are you really that smart? Lol How can they take over the world if they want to sell me something I just bought?
In my life it's kind of a necessity but I can only imagine what those shopping apps that are installed on my phone do to track me when I have enabled GPS location and microphone and gallery access all of it to shop in the middle of their daily scanflation schemes. I think as advocates, it's sometimes hard for us to stand up for privacy since we see it (privacy) abused with all the closed-door secrets and corporate shenanigans but it's important to take a macro view on how each of our lives have been recorded every instance every spoken text message or search.
Ditto. It's my only subscriber outgo monthly. Well worth it. Additionally my settings disallow RUclips tracking my viewing habits and we don't own a television. Makes omnipresent consumerism so much more manageable. I am so content with what I have.
Too costly. Alphabet is missing the boat. If they remove the junk extras, like music, and just charged for RUclips (as in people making videos) at say $4 a month, they would have had a few years of money from me and many others. Too expensive in its forced bundle version now.
I like being spied on by the browsers. Once I wanted to buy shoe inserts, but no sale was on. I put the shoe inserts in the cart, and did nothing. Then ten minutes later, I received a 15% discount from a Facebook ad. Be patient and the discounts come to you!!!
Great strategy, Clarkie! 🙌 We often recommend putting something in the cart and waiting 24 hours because quite often you will get a discount code. You received yours in record speed! 💚
I would question the methodology, size and conclusions of the "study" regarding people's comfort with advertising that follows their activity.

But how did they get the child’s voice? Could the Ring or something in the home have been hacked? Would it then know your code word?

You saved $1,000 from $1.10? That's amazing! 👏👏👏 #goodolddays

Ads that follow you are creepy, period. A lot of Americans are asleep at the wheel when it comes to their privacy, security and finances.
Good post. Sadly America's politicians are controlled by corporations. $$

Way to go! Your kid is on the right track to get there! 👏👏👏

they should not be listening to you. period.
Our credit card usage is tracked too.
I pay for RUclips premium to avoid ads. It works, it is expensive, it is a luxury that I give myself and family.

Same with me. No ads for me!

Throw your computer out the window
Young people think it's cool for ads to follow us....
Creepy creepy creeepy
1/2 million Roku users info stolen? That’s all of them!
😂 Not quite. "As of the first quarter of 2024, Roku reported a total of around 81.6 million active accounts worldwide."
But 40 million are old accounts and not used, like mine.
Thank you Team Clark.
It's creepy that siri and alexa is listen and aggregating that data to use it against us! 🤣
Siri doesn’t.
If you want to earn actual interest, Fidelity is your answer.
Thanks Clark & Team! NNTR
