On show here is a good example of GSD Inteligence........when the frisby is thrown the dogs assess which of them is going to reach it first.....the one that will lose the race doesn't even bother and instead waits for the next throw demonstrating an ability to assess and anticipate the outcome to save energy ! Dogs really are the most amazing creatures on the planet and they truly are man's best friend well besides my wife we recently lost our Shepherd Husky mix he was 16 years old name of Jack he was the most incredibly smart dog I've ever met in my entire life he was actually my wife's when we first got together but he became ours right away and I truly miss him I miss him so bad when you know it's time for a new one it'll be really hard to find one to fill his shoes
Benson had strong rear legs. Many gsds these days have such weak hind legs that it’s a shame the breeders continue breeding dogs with “angulated legs n slopping backs” just because in the show rings, that’s what is valued for aesthetics ! Wonderful to see a strong gsd. 👌🏼👍🏼

2:24 LOL, I honestly don’t remember having to teach my pup “drop it”. I’m sure we had to teach her, but it wasn’t hard. I’ve tried to reach my buddy’s MASSIVE Doberman, Rottweiler, Boxer mix (looks like a Rhodesian) the “drop it” thing, and he’s not having it. Even if it means ‘fetch’ is indefinitely over, he is NOT letting go unless you pry it from his jaws or trick him to look at something else.
I liked when you spoke to Benson about going to play with his friend his head turned first one way then the other but he never took his eyes off your face. That is trust and love. I love German Shepherds. I grew up with one. They are smart and they can be great protectors of children. What saddens me is that there are more German Shepherds in pounds than any other dogs. I don't understand that, perhaps people don't like their dog to be more intelligent than they are. The one thing about GSs is they are intelligent and they need stimulation and even work. We used to put Bullet to work carrying a plastic pail of toys for the youngsters my Mom babysat, or I should say I babysat while she did housework. He loved having a job to do and after a short while he was happy with a pat on the head and a good boy and no longer expected a treat. I'd give him one anyway and he was great at keeping the little ones out of the vegetable garden. I'd say oh, oh Bullet, Tony is headed for the garden again and he'd get up and run over and gently nudge and herd Tony back to where we were playing in the grass. On hot summer days we'd get the kiddy pool out but he knew he couldn't get into the kiddy pool with the kids, but he'd wait patiently until they were tired and got out and then he'd jump in and slosh around and emptied most of the water. It made my job easier because by the time he was done the pool was almost empty. All I had to do after the kids were down for their nap was go back out after he was done and hose it off and he loved the hose as well. Unfortunately, Mom wouldn't let him back into the house until he dried off. He didn't mind he'd lay in the sun on the porch after I toweled him off and enjoy the sun. I just don't understand why people aren't adopting such smart loving dogs.

Hi. What was the type of crate that Benson has in the car that you said keeps him safe in the event of a crash? I have 115lb Great Pyreneese that looks similar in size to Benson.
Owned many dogs and cats in my day. For a RUclips video I was actually looking for something to happen ? More excitement perhaps. I don't know. Not worthy of putting on RUclips in my opinion. I would have not posted it. Perhaps for people that don't own dogs, gives them a chance to enjoy slightly? I don't know.
dog in a crate riding in the car defeats the purpose of the joy dog riding they love to stick their nose out the window and smell the real reason is you don't want GSD in your backseat is the shedding hair the dog will be hurt more in a crash restricted in a cage. It's obvious dog hesitated coming out the door to the car and then walk to the back door of the car because didn't want to get into a back cage was forced in there. That's cruel.
I love how dogs greet each other by smelling each others Butts. The equivalent of Hoomans shaking hands.
