We went to Indianapolis this weekend to go to Woodmizer's Open House. Been thinking about a portable mill for a while and couldn't resist the chance to try them out myself. I tried out two of the lower end portable mills, the LT15 and the LX55. Leaning toward the LT15 Wide. It was nice to be hands-on with the mills. But still need to do my research on Hudson and Norwood portable mills.

Hope they have a good ventilation system.

OK.....so some people are going to buy that small mill (the one with the electric motor, I don't know the model #), never realizing WM screwed up making this thing. You can't raise the mill up to comfortable working height because the controls are set up for the bed to be down low.....so everything you do is bend over. The dogs are on the wrong side from the operator (the things you bump the log to that fold down)....look on the LT 30-40-50 mills....the operator and the dogs are on the same side so the operator can SEE them......lot of dogs gonna get hit with this mill, I can tell you.
Nope....DO not buy this mill.....go ahead and get the cantilever design that made WM famous and leave these low end mills to the rest of the low end mill makers. WM should have never gotten in this market.
I speak as a 30 year owner, over million bdft sawed, of an LT40 MANUAL....I'm of the opinion the hydraulics are another thing you could do without if you're just sawing for yourself.
