Just listen, it is not easy to sing in languages like Telugu, Tamil and Malayalam which are classical languages and Hindi comes nowhere near them. South singers like SPB and KJ Yesudas are far more trained in classical music. And to remind you, they are well trained in Karnatic music which is far more superior to Hindusthani music. I was lucky enough to watch SP live on several stages. Once In sydney, he sang a medley of songs. Songs of Rafi, Kishore, Hemant Kumar, ghandasala etc. I must admit, their songs were much more melodious in SP’s voice. He is a true Gandharva that’s why he was called so early in life. RIP SPB.

This is one of the toughest eternal songs of Kishore Kumar. Genius in KishoreDa had made this song surge miles ahead even against a legendary female singer who sang the very same song in her style beautifully. Nobody dares to sing KishoreDa's version. If at all, should it be as a tribute to him out of reverence? I felt SPB's voice lacked the depth to pursue this song. His voice also not joining in shruthi in many places had made the matters worse. Still, we should be able to appreciate the efforts he had put in.

With utmost respect to the original singer of whom I am one of the biggest fans, it is equally important to mention that the singer in this video was 73 when he gave this performance. Nobody says that. In fact his songs are the most difficult to sing purely because of his voice. This song sounds bland even when such a great singer sings it. Just listen to Kishores version and you’ll understand

One of the Best all time hit compositions of Panchamda which has both female and male versions in the film "Mehbooba". When Panchamda asked Kishoreda to sing the song for recording, Kishoreda said "Lataji first ".. Later only after having a rehersal of the song at home, Kishoreda came prepared for final recording in Studio. Such a devotion has made the nostalgic melody immortal.

I was lucky enough to watch SP live on several stages. Once In sydney, he sang a medley of songs. Songs of Rafi, Kishore, Hemant Kumar, ghandasala etc. I must admit, their songs were much more melodious in SP’s voice. He is a true Gandharva that’s why he was called so early in life. RIP SPB.

Bear in mind that the original was sung by KISHORE KUMAR, so studio or not, Spb could never get even close to Kishoreda's rendition.
There is no comparison between Balu sir and any other singer.....the maestro who sang more than 40000 thousand songs is beyond comparison. Nevertheless if anyone wants to compare plz listen this song from"ye sham mastani "concert when he was in full form.... At the time of this concert he was 73....plz keep this in mind.

SPB was not native speaker of Hindi language. his mother tongue was telugu (andhra pradesh). still, he sang thousands of songs in Telugu,Tamil,Kannada and Hindi. He sang this song at the age of 70, pls remember, that too It was not in recording studio, in a live event. So cannot compare with Kishore kumar. Both were legends. It's SPB tribute to Kishore kumar.

This is one of the toughest eternal songs of Kishore Kumar. Genius in KishoreDa had made this song surge miles ahead even against a legendary female singer who sang the very same song in her style beautifully.
Nobody dares to sing KishoreDa's version. If at all, should it be as a tribute to him out of reverence?
I felt SPB's voice lacked the depth to pursue this song. His voice also not joining in shruthi in many places had made the matters worse.
Still, we should be able to appreciate the efforts he had put in.
