It is not only about encrypting end to end. Most people think that someone in between is listening to your conversations. When you use a smartphone, it has many, many permissions (even given from you!!!) to read, write, listen, send, receive etc. The problems aren't only the apps themselves but rather what else is happening on our phones
Use a de-googled OS instead.

Doesn’t matter what you use, mobile cell devices data is still logged encrypted or not. They have time to decrypt whatever they want whenever they want with all this stored information. It still goes through cell towers and networks just like it does on any home ISP you use.
Please note that Telegram does not have end to end encyption turned on by default. You have to activate it when you start the chat with a person. In the menu select Contacts -> New Secret Chat.
For me, that is the most annoying thing with Telegram

Signal is the best, and most secure, period. Open source, non-profit, & the way data is used in conjunction with servers is where things make a big difference between these end to end encrypted messaging services.

What I've learned is that when the product is free, then the user becomes the product. Hence FB and IG as other examples.
It doesn’t matter if you are using an encrypted messenger, because they are scraping the notifications and can see all that.

Yep. Anything cloud based means you are effed. Some are more difficult to scrape and require more decryption though. Basically any device based SIGNIT the NSA wants they can get.

All of these apps are fully open to active directory attacks if not implicitly already an on going business decision. If you're someone like a journalist working on important projects and these apps don't impress you then the next best thing is GPG but getting people to use this type of software is often a non-starter. GPG is actually trivial for any IT dept to implement and can be used with gmail, even though Google is going to know the text is cannot be scanned for spam.

The way signal messages are leaked is from the end user having their phone and app unlocked or have given their data to the feds when raided, summoned or arraigned.
Common data encryption algorithms and techniques
1. Advanced Encryption Standard (AES)

5. Twofish
6. Format-Preserving Encryption (FPE)
7. Elliptic Curve Cryptography (ECC)
In Europe we trust Threema. Made and hosted in Switzerland. Very good end to end encryption.

Snowden recommends Signal and evaded the U.S. government using it. "No", Signal does not have back doors for the FBI and CIA. As far as court records, encrypted messages can be recovered on the device. So, likely the end devices were accessed. That can include laptops that the desktop client was installed on.

@@MrChadLedford I don't think he's literally on their payroll, but, I can't remember if it was Tucker or PBD who did a very favorable interview with Telegram's founder, and since then Telegram has been the conservative darling.
What these guys don't realize is that Signal has been used in real-life situations and stood up under scrutiny. Whistleblowers like Snowden and countless journalists have used Signal. If the FBI or CIA had backdoor access, not only would they have been able to use that access against these people, but others would've found and exploited it by now.
Telegram calls itself 'open source', but, last time I checked, it's kernal is closed. So, it's not actually open source. I like Telegram, but, I trust Signal more until they give me ACTUAL hard evidence not to (not just strawman arguments about their founders).
Take note, if you are using any device on any network it is not secure. There is no encryption, app, or service that cannot be exploited. If you have a device and it has any connectivity to any type of data receiving platform it is not secure. There isn't a secure network, there are no secure guidelines, there is no way to electronically communicate that is not 100% recorded 100% of the time.

The data has to pass through a network provider which can then siphon the data for a government or inteligence agency is that right? Could someone that knows tech answer this plz
Your internet provider can see some of what you do yes, so if the task you're doing requires good anonymity from them, use TOR (most anonymous, but slow), a VPN (be careful which you pick), or a proxy. This encrypts your data and hides what you're connecting to.
Meanwhile, any good messaging app encrypts their data as well and thus the information they send to you or from you to other people can't be viewed or traced back to you. Now of course, they can keep logs, but some apps have been proven to not keep any logs. Signal, for example, was ordered by the FBI to provide all data they had on a specific user. All they were able to hand over was account creation date, and time of last connection to the server. Out of the three apps in this video I'd 100% recommend signal over the others, but there are also other options like Session and Matrix
