You put a chorus pedal? That’s the worst option you could of put on. Even an EQ pedal is a better option than a chorus.
3th song name?
@@gabe4u22 why not both?
I'd replace Fuzz to Distortion
@@gabe4u22 さささしささささなし
i'm still amazed how the chorus changes the guitar sound so drastically
I think it is doing a slight pitch sharp and flat of what you play.
@@mikebastiat not exactly! it does that while also maintaining the dry signal creating a "choral" effect like having two guitars veeery slightly out of tune with each other. a vibrato pedal would modulate the pitch up and down but without the dry signal :)
Especially in stereo
That’s why it’s the first pedal I bought

I love the sound of that reverb pedal. So clean and relaxing.
I’d add distortion there too. If you want to play some famous hard rock/metal riffs, chances are there is some distortion there
As much as I dig Fuzz for the funk, blues, classic rock, soul, etc I play... I primarily play in very heavy bands and Fuzz absolutely will NOT cut it lol!
I play stuff like Pig Destroyer, Dragged Into Sunlight, NAILS, Wormrot, Converge, etc... I run a TC Electronics Dark Matter distortion pedal to shape my distortion's sound/tone then an Ibanez Tube Screamer Mini to clean up the Dark Matter and give it a CRUSHING boost!
It's a great combo of pedals to get a gruesome, ballsy, sludgy, doomy tone but individual notes and leads still come thru crystal clear
@@phatnana2379 Isn't fuzz not supposed to be heavier than distortion? I always thought it was strange how modern metal doesn't use much fuzz even though it sounds a lot harsher. I guess maybe that because people stack distortion pedals to get *that* sound.
@@midnightstorm4290 Fuzz lacks chug... Like it can sound harsh but it doesn't have the rumble like distortion. It also doesn't have the clarity
@@midnightstorm4290 fuzz has no clarity, bite, precision, or tight bottom end whatsoever compared to distortion. It's virtually unusable in extreme metal generally speaking.
Yes, a 100% swap of fuzz in favor of distortion. Way more usable across the general spectrum.
You can basically do a poor man's fuzz using heavy distortion & the neck pickup w/ tone rolled off anyway.
I would argue that the first pedal any new guitar player should get is a loop pedal. Being able to learn how to construct all the pieces of a song by yourself if you have no one else to play with opens up doors into practicing that many players wouldn’t even recognize without.
Bro. Thank you for this. I think you’re right. I’m gonna look for a loop pedal first.
@@prettygneissproductionsthat’s what I did awesome choice
Hey man what should I do if I want to do the same thing with a digital keyboard? Are there piano pedals?
@@encore4962 any loop pedal should accept a 1/4” as well as some of them having XLR, 1/8”, and/or MIDI inputs. As long as it can be plugged into a mixing board, any loop pedal should accept any instrument with the appropriate cable necessary.
That depends on how you want to look at it? Looper pedals are great, especially one that has a drum machine, but if you're trying to emulate a specific tone and you're experimenting, I'd recommend an affordable multi fx unit. In todays market, I'd say the best for a beginner would be something like a NuX MG300 or Hotone Ampero mini. They're affordability priced, have all effects, AND a looper and drum machine.
Some UFO there, haven't heard that track in ages
I was like, "I've definitely heard that song before" and you helped me clarify it was UFO
@eduard_reviews_stuff too hot to handle (1st song)
That's because it's too hot to handle .
what’s the third and fourth song names?
My favorite UFO tune is PUSHED TO THE LIMIT!!!!!
UFO's "Too Hot to Handle" was the first song I completely transcribed by ear. Hearing just that little snippet on a random short has made my day 😊
40 years of playing and it never occurred to me that I need a pedal 🤷🏼♂️😂
Keep up with the times grandpa
Mate, I ate fufu around 50 years ago for the first time, and I assume it's still the same eh? Really good, traditional fufu with a great sauce, yeah? Grandma's recepie, yeah?
@@adrianguggisberg3656 Sorry sir, I had no idea Chief. Upmost respect to my elders
Don't worry mate, pedals are great, I just stick to my old stuff, as you will to yours once you are my age. Pedals are grandpa tech too, tho. If you want to keep up with times, you need a Kemper or Helix 😎🤘🎸
Amen! You're not alone! After trying them all,The only effect I use is delay.Straight into a Marshall for me!(w-delay,shorter tail)
1-5:
Compressor.
It's the most overlooked pedal, and incredibly useful.
Just picked up a modified CS-3. Absolutely love it, just what my pedalboard needed
I agree
I was gonna say it
It’s essential for tapping, percussive playing, legato and a lot more especially with single coils
An equalizer too🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉
The delay, heavenly
I've got a boss katana MK2, so I've pretty much got them all.
Same, got the amp for my 18th birthday as a present
@@agcacustoms2852 Do you have it plugged into your computer? Once you can access all the stuff you can only do through computer, the amp just goes to another level. You can almost get any tone you want out of it. When I first got mine I have to say I wasn't too impressed. But as soon as I plugged it into my computer, it changed everthing. The tone I can get is almost kind of as good as a tube amp. With a bit of tweaking with the parametric EQ and the global EQ, you can get some awsome metal tones out of it. It chugs better than I thought it would by itself without putting a nice distortion pedal in front of it. The only issue I have, and thus would go for any digital amp. You get what is called digital artifacts. It's a sound that only digital amps make. It's the reason alot of people don't like digital amps. I like it alot though. Recording straight from the usb sounds amazing. Just plug into your computer, download the DAW, (Digital Audio Work Station) Reaper and record your own guitar tracks for free. It's super easy to use if you haven't already.
@@chriswalton3383 unfortunately I haven’t been up to that level since I couldn’t figure out how to connect it and my computer wouldn’t even work at the time. I hope to connect it and get all of those pedals and effects sooner than later, but for the moment I just use a multi-effects pedal I got before the amp.
Heard about the Katana recently, looks really cool. And a LOT cheaper than I thought it would be.
I have a katana as well, absolutely worth it
I’m gonna guess if you’re watching this video, you’re probably thinking “…yeah.”
Why didn't you add a wah pedal?! The amount of expression and fun you can have with one of those bad boys 😎
My bass player is always going wild on those bad boys
@@danorott they are just so much fun 🤣 I've lowered my new Gibson into a lowerd C standard tuning! It's like it's been given a whole new "grunt" (especially with the wah peddle)😎
without wah there will be no fun lol
Yeah I got one. It’s not one of my most used but I use it on occasion
For me:
1. Noise gate
2. Distortion/overdrive/tubescreamer
3. Wah
4. Chorus
5. Volume pedal
Noise gate and tuner pedal are mandatory for gigs.
I would also recommend a compressor, i never realized how useful they were until i got one
I have one but I’m not entirely sure how to use it
What does it do?
It helps shape the sound in terms of volume. It's commonly used to even out the volume of unevenly played notes, or to enhance the attack of each particular note
@@GalaxyDinoPlayzjojobestshowlol sometimes, some pedals have a higher natural gain than other pedals, and a compressor can help even out the level of your board when turning off and on different pedals during a gig. Hope this helps!!
A GOOD compressor
Theres so many out there that are too hard for beginners to hear what they do
Keeley is king
Tuner, looper and EQ are my top 3
Very fair. I always run a reverb pedal at all times. Specifically the Astronomer pedal by Matthew's effects. Can't talk up that pedal enough!
I got Reverb running at all times too. Too many people think Reverb is only for being super noticable for a spacey/trippy effect!
It's my opinion that just a TOUCH of Reverb (Delay could be used to the same effect too) adds a little something to my dry tones (clean or distorted). You wouldn't think there was ANY Reverb while I'm playing but if I turn it off, you hear the difference
@@phatnana2379 exactly! Your right I tried using some delay but I just found the control of reverb is much easier to hone in. I use a delay but in a more abrupt sort of way than just filling those empty spaces in my dry tone.
I like how they chose like, the crappiest verb pedal in 2022 now hahaa
This may seem sad but I’m looking to expand my pedal line up but here’s what I have.
1: Looper
2: Overdrive
3: Chorus
4: Wah Pedal
More than a lot of the pros use..
Some kind of delay/echo.
Get an eq pedal.
I'd add distortion and then, it would be perfect
@@wildesage4172does it really worth a battery? I mean, if you practice or record, you should use dry sound; and if you play on stage, the environment will provide the natural reverb, but the pedal will steal the clarity in the mix
I think this video has obviously an approach that will be easier to understand to beginners in pedals, so swapping the word chorus for modulation is totally acceptable
Yeah that's what we were going for!
Or a tuner or compression they are real godsends
Yes! I have 4/5 of these. Fuzz not really necessary. Chorus, Delay, Boost and Reverb - quite the 80's setup 🤘❤️🔥
The Boss Metalzone: 1 pedal to rule them all!
Thanks for the Too Hot to Handle tutorial!!
chorus is a beautiful pedal for anyone...clean or dirty...heavy or light...pleasant sounds
A lot of amps have reverb, some have chorus.
I'll get a big muff for the sound it gets.
Not fuzz necessarily but Distortion yes.
Chorus is old sounding now so just have a Polytuner as 1st of the 5 pedals.
Distortion, tuner, overdrive, wah and a good old footswitch are the esentials for me personally
My Yamaha THR10 has all those effects and it sounds so awesome. I can really recommend this amp to everyone.
Jeeeeeeez the fuzz tone was so good
Just came to say that the Boss DS-1 has always been, and always will be, the best distortion pedal on the market today. No pedal has withstood the test of time as that one has.
My must have:
1. Fuzz
2. Compressor
3. Wah
4. Overdrive
5. Distortion (Rat 2 is my fav)
6. Flanger (cause you can make it sound like a chorus, vibrato and phaser, so you have 4 modulations in one pedal)
7. Delay (digital fot the 8 dotted and analog for my leads)
8. Shimmer Reverb.
For everyone wanting to know the name of the 4th song..the one being played with REVERB.. BECK-WHERE IT'S AT It's actually played with a piano but of course you can play it on guitar as well
I’m starting to think the best pedal is finding the prefect amp tone for me and then actually striving to get better at playing. Maybe a overdrive to push the amp a bit more on command. Then maybe worry about building out the toys.
🤓
I agree. Although I'd chose different brands. Except that Holy Grail. I want that.
Compressor and EQ. Underrated and necessary.
The strymon ola is incredible. I know it’s pricey but holy smokes, it’s the most delicious chorus.
my chorus pedal just arrived in the mail and i’m so happy
Don't forget the tuner!
As someone who has half of these built into my amp, I see this as an absolute win
I have a question, is it possible to have more than one effect at the same time? Like overdrive and delay? If so how? I’m a piano player, but was wondering for m church new electric guitar player. Is it even possible to attach guitar to more than one pedal?
I've never used a pedal, but looks like it has a spot for input and output so you maybe can just string them together with cables
You can certainly use multiple effects at the same time! Just look up 'pedalboards' on google! It'll show what usually works.. The order of the effects changes the sound too so that something to consider and play with!
I'm not a big fan of chorus, delays, phase ect. I do like a little reverb but I've always liked to use my les Paul to switch between clean and dirty tones by lowering the neck volume, granted I have an amp I like the gain that it's capable of. I don't know why but it's just my preference. Possibly because its just less "stuff" I have to tinker with. I'd like to add that a decent eq pedal is a game changer though.
...and the blue Ibanez "Phase Tone" ...my favourite...
Firstly i would need a guitar to plug these pedals in.🙂
The first tune was from UFO!
Do you know what the 4th song was, Reverb?
I own from Boss: Compressor CS-3, Chorus CE-3, Super-Chorus CH-1, Digital Delay DD-3, Distortion DS-1, Super Overdrive SD1. Also in my Vox VT-20x amp I still all of this duplicated, plus tremolo, phaser, flanger and reverb. And I cannot forget of the Trio+ Looper from Harman-Kardon. Going to purchase some extra pedals. It's a GAS!!!!
알기쉽게 정리를 잘 하셨네ㅎㅎ
Almost same as my top 5, except for the fuzz...
1. Overdrive
2. Distortion (crunch)
3. Chorus
4. Delay
5. Reverb
For my other 3 pedals...
6. Tuner
7. Looper Pedal
8. EQ pedal (use for acoustic guitar only)
I'd replace reverb(since most amps have it) with a phaser or looper for practicing with yourself
Chorus is by far the best effect ever
I usually use none because I play mostly acoustic, but when I do play electric and with effects I mostly use, delay, reverb, and tremolo. Occasionally I'll use a bit of drive too but usually I either just use more gain on the amp, or use a wah pedal but instead of the usual way to use it I just leave it on high
Just imagine u own all these and a guy comes up with laptop and makes it all in fl studio without even buying these stuffs ..that's kinda sad tho 🤣
Not really. Digital art be it music or drawing is equally valid. You still need the ear for music and the passion to work on it
Nah not at all! I pretty much exclusivly use amp sims, whereas a lot of the other guys in the shop use amps and pedals. So long as you're having fun, who cares!
Well, to be fair, there’s also aspects like going up on stage, where you’d need pedals
Different processes altogether.
FL plugins sound like ass cheeks tho
I just started playing, tyyyy!!
Vox wah, Boss DS-2, Boss BF-1 Flanger, Boss CE-2 Chorus is my setup 👍🏼 still looking to add mxr dyna comp compressor. My marshall has nice stuff reverb and lots of other settings like contour that can make fuzz/heavier thick sounds.
My guitarist in my band (aka brother) bought a fx processor and it generates tons of effects and mimics a lot of tones that a lot of well known guitarist use in these days
That's another great way to do it! The Helix/Kemper/Quad Cortex are some great pedals!
holy shit that fuzz pedal is so bad I thought at first it was just distortion turned to max
1. Chorus
2. Delay
3. Compressor
4. Boost/Drive
5. Wah
I have a Marshall with chorus, reverb, delay, phaser, flanger, and octave. And I have a wah and a Ibanez tube screamer. With those two pedals and that amp I can almost have any sound I want with a few exceptions
I have delay tc electronic
Fuzz big muff the white one ( there s a lot ik) to get distortion sound
Blues drive blue pedal
Wah wah
Loop pedal
PRS is the shit to play on thanks to Paul we have a standard that raises the bar
I would add 6. Compressor
Maybe the most underrated effect, but still necessary 🙂
I only got 3: Wah, Overdrive/Distortion, and Delay/Reverb
Fuzz the best
The more I see videos like this, the more I love digital technology
You can use 30 pedals or as many as you wish. Just make sure each sound is levelled the same in all combinations.
Or, you'll just get a limiter, which in the end is the opposite of what you wanted.
Every guitarists needs a noise gate pedal! Especially with overdrive/distortion
That OD sounds nice!
You should check out the chase bliss mood pedal. It has most of the reverbs and ambient sounds, so plus more. But it is pretty expensive as pedals go.
That fuzz is like 🔥
I have a Line 6 stereo chorus amp with a switchable four way board with a built in wag/volume pedal
I also have a Marshall 100w head one a 4x12 cabinet that I use with pedals, these five plus some.
Lovin delay reverb and chorus ❤
I only use Boss’s Compressors. You can generally get much better Modulation out there than what Boss offers. If you want genuinely good Fuzz, I would EXTREMELY recommend looking into investing your money into a Big Muff Pi or a Fuzzface. Digitech and DanElectro are also pretty amazing, but half of their stuff is discontinued so good luck finding that kind of stuff secondhand. Digitech Synth Wah is a beast.
Absolutely ! Nice guitar.....
I’ve never owned a distortion pedal in my life… I take that back I bought one plugged it in and took it back to where it came from
Eight: Wah, phase, tuner.
...honorable mention goes to flanger, tremolo, equalizer and compressor. 👍🏿
All I need is a wah and a looper
Soldano slo pedal is killer
Can never have too many pedals 😅
Chorus 🖤
I'll swap the chorus for a tremolo
Good shout!
Ehh idk about that chorus is amazing. Id swap the fuzz out first, there’s already distortion and you can create a fuzz effect with contour/gain/bass settings if you have a have decent amp
I'm swap the chorus for a flanger. Flanger used as a chorus sounds better than the best chorus.
@@lonewanderer958 Yeah DS2 sounds cooler than a fuzz when maxed in my opinion.
@@lonewanderer958 nahh tremolo is the sexist effect there is
id argue a distortion petal is more important than a fuzz even though i prefer fuzz over distortion
By the way all of these sounds can be had with cheaper pedals that cost less combined than just one of the pedals showcased here
Too hot to handle - Ufo. What a band.
If you need a certain effect and can't decide what brand to get you can't go wrong with a boss
My boss katana got it covered 😌
Dan electro Daddy-O
OD pedal' OD/distortion and fuzz all in one pedal.
Got distortion, fuzz, chorus, spring reverb built into my amp, and a Classic Sans Amp. Had an EQ pedal, but that got stolen. Got a vintage EHX Graphic Fuzz, but something is wrong with the pedal and it needs to be repaired. Other than wanting a Jerry Cantrell Wah, I would love to get a TC Electronic Mimiq.
I remember the 1980s boss analogue pedals ...flanger..delay ..octdivider...choros...
Got all that and more!👍
Switch the fuzz for distortion and ill agree
That overdrive was putting out some sweet Dinosaur Jr. vibes
IMO, my 5 Essential pedals are
Delay, Flanger, Overdrive, Distortion, Compressor
1. Overdrive/distortion
2.reverb
3. Chorus
4. Delay
5. Wah
Thanks! I was so lost 🧍🏻
That delay sound is beautiful.., anyone know if there's a full song just like that ? 😢😢😢
