I was used to and mistakenly expecting the standard "use these combos" video that doesn't explain why or when. Approaching the video from the game plan and how your combos play into them is *chef's kiss* Thank you.
Thank you for actually teaching people the game and character. I tired of the show inputs and combos in slow motion video style. You are one of few RUclipsrs who make tutorials with passion.
I'm glad the topics covered in this video still scale to higher levels of play! Beginner content like this supports new players coming into the genre. If you're watching this and this is your first Guilty Gear, please take note!
very interesting approach, clear and simple to understand, appreciate the hard work - this is definitely one of the best fighting games guides I've seen, big up
As someone who's looking to try Strive again for the latest patch after having put a decent amount of time with Anji, it's incredible to see how you've managed to make a video built around explaining the main gameplan of the char while still hinting at combos. Short essay that gets the point across really well for people who want to get started with Anji, kudos to you.
Just started Guilty Gear Strive after playing zero fighting games (except smash when I was a kid) and picked up Anji right away. This was a really helpful introduction on the theory side of things - I hate mashing buttons with no game plan but I didn't know what else to do until now.
Just came to say I've been keeping what this vid and many others of yours in mind while labbing my Anji and it's been an amazing help. Hearing 2H was a combo tool was such an eye opener and I never would've thought to look for Kou loops and after knowing what my combos are, I know to put myself in a position to threaten them again.
This video was very helpful for me thank you! im new to guilty gear franchise and this is helping me understand how to get comfortable with this character
Wow, what a unique and innovative combo guide. Super in depth and its clear that a lot of effort was put into it. I'd love to see more videos like this in the future
Just found out about your channel today after playing anji in training mode for a while now trying to understand how his combos work. I don't think there's any other content creator on this platform that produces such in depth guides on each and every aspect of a single character like you do, really appreciate it man. Even though I've been practicing a lot, I still have major consistency issues with j.D wall bounces and its follow ups depending on wall distance, opponent's height and distance, and wall health. I was wondering if you were planning to do a more advanced anji combo guide covering these wall bounces. For example the afore mentioned but also when to j.D into air dash, or when to pick up the wall bounce with either c.S/5k/2k, and even choose to either fujin or kou after that. I just think that there are so many variables and it's always hard to pick the right moves during a combo with this character (I even see high level players like noktron mess up all the time which really makes me wonder if the character doesn't need some fixing tbh). Anyway thank you for reading my comment, keep doing what you do, you really deserve a bigger audience!
Thank you! I've thought about it but I haven't conjured up a good way to structure it yet - specifically because of the nuances you mention. Whether j.D itself connects is generally a result of both character weight and sometimes dash momentum. I've found however that j.D into 5K Fujin Rin fairly consistently turns into a wall break, and in general 5K Fujin is a much more stable ender rather than attempting to go for another c.S Kou (despite it being marginally less damage). Also more general advice is that j.K j.D is useful to make the opponent go higher up, as the post-bounce follow-up is most consistent if the opponent is hit by the top part of the umbrella in j.D, so if it seems like j.D on its own will hit with the middle, try to substitute j.K j.D instead. Either way, there's a lot of experience and "feel" that comes with the wall bounce combos, and even if I put out another video on everything I know about it, there'll still be an aspect of experience that will be necessary. Hope that helps and maybe I'll make another vid on this topic someday, but don't get your hopes up for now! :P
@@NewMillenniumYT first of all thank you so much for taking the time to read my essay ahah, and most of all for your great infos. Indeed, I have noticed that when in doubt I could most of the time just go for 5k - >fujin pretty reliably but as you mentioned I felt that it was a lot of wasted potential since kou got buffed and scale so well, which is why I had been wondering about general guidelines to help me get kou and j.D function better. I actually discovered that j.k j.d trick super recently, but felt like it was only useful when starting the combo in the corner. I really agree about that "feel" you're talking about when it comes to anji which from playing other characters I felt was almost unique to him (especially coming from being a Leo main originally, his combos being pretty straightforward). There's something both cool and frustrating at the same time about it which is why I was interested in tips to rationalize his combo routes. Thank you so much again for taking the time out of your day to answer me, I wish you a good one!
This is great man. Now it's time for me to suck it up and learn to do 5K/2K > 2D > Kou stuff. The button layout of going from K to D on controller just feels so weird to me. Need to adapt!

I wouldn’t say I’m a beginner to this game but I just picked up anji and I’m glad I watched this is a good video!

I loved the format and the pace is perfect, specially without getting into the less reliable Kou jD routes.
As a beginner your content is exeptional helpful! You wraped the stuff up in digestible bits. Thank you for this!
Thank you for making this
Wow, what a great vid. Cant wait to watch the others.
this video is a masterpiece, really good job !
dope content
Great video makes my want to give anji another try
Wow amazing video
