    • @Izheets
      @Izheets 10 месяцев назад +4

      PIT is vastly overused in Arkansas. The thousands of dollars in damages and injuries and possible deaths of both the suspects and innocent bystanders is just not warranted. Not for traffic offenses anyway. Speeding and other traffic violations do not justify the deadly use of force that the PIT can cause. Anybody remember the pregnant woman that Arkansas HP PIT’d because she didn’t pull over right away? She had slowed down and indicated that she was looking for a safe spot to stop and the cop thought she wasn’t complying so he rolled her car over on the highway as a result. Just stupid.

    With today's tech and GPS and all I don't find it hard for an automated system that engages all semaphores (traffic lights) in red while a cruiser approaches with emergency lights on. It will save time and lives, that chase was slowed down so many times for those lights. Even put an extra led sign on the lights indicating like "Emergency" in flashing colors so others DO take the red light more seriously, I don't know. It can be easy and cheap to implement. Great chase!

    • @Ghost-jy9hk

      It’s not a matter of technology. It’s the money to implement it

    • @dotnet97
      @dotnet97 10 месяцев назад

      Suddenly changing lights like that sounds like a good idea until you consider actually moving traffic. You end up still needing to smoothly transition through yellow to allow incoming traffic to slow down as they would for a light, and so at that point you've already lost so much of the potential benefit relative to the cost of implementation.

    • @JimNasium71

      Sounds like a good idea to me... Also seems like no one is taught how to pull over for emergency vehicles anymore either. It isn't even the same place I deliberately came to live in during the 70s. It was so special then. Albuq was only 220,000 people in 1972, and now it's at least 720,000. Plus transients and assorted others, MS13, etc. and the west mess had dirt roads already scratched out in anticipation of future eighbirhood and business construction. You could climb up La Luz and look out over the valley and see the grid laid out on the mesa. Unless you've got money and a stake in it, this isn't a nice place any more.
