To loose a helicopter , you just have to enter restricted airspace, (small airports, aero space companies, and communication towers or go into cloudy areas) after that , you just need to worry about the cruisers. Cruisers never stay on top of you , you have a window of about 2 minutes to escape without a chopper looking , if you do it right. Lots of people get away in chases in Los Angeles for that exact reason
After watching several videos of NM PD chases This is the most dangerous situation I’ve seen with a blind side of the truck. Some of these NM people are crazy 😜 they run from the police then get out and start shooting at them

NM should take pursuit classes from Arkansas State police. They've honed their craft from the early days of moonshining and have only gotten better since. They've earned their masters in PIT moves.
PIT is vastly overused in Arkansas. The thousands of dollars in damages and injuries and possible deaths of both the suspects and innocent bystanders is just not warranted. Not for traffic offenses anyway. Speeding and other traffic violations do not justify the deadly use of force that the PIT can cause. Anybody remember the pregnant woman that Arkansas HP PIT’d because she didn’t pull over right away? She had slowed down and indicated that she was looking for a safe spot to stop and the cop thought she wasn’t complying so he rolled her car over on the highway as a result. Just stupid.

If the camera catches the tag #, it's relayed by satellite to whatever PD is in the area. I'm sure that the system is used for other things (big brother is always watching).
With today's tech and GPS and all I don't find it hard for an automated system that engages all semaphores (traffic lights) in red while a cruiser approaches with emergency lights on. It will save time and lives, that chase was slowed down so many times for those lights. Even put an extra led sign on the lights indicating like "Emergency" in flashing colors so others DO take the red light more seriously, I don't know. It can be easy and cheap to implement. Great chase!
Suddenly changing lights like that sounds like a good idea until you consider actually moving traffic. You end up still needing to smoothly transition through yellow to allow incoming traffic to slow down as they would for a light, and so at that point you've already lost so much of the potential benefit relative to the cost of implementation.

It isn't even the same place I deliberately came to live in during the 70s. It was so special then. Albuq was only 220,000 people in 1972, and now it's at least 720,000. Plus transients and assorted others, MS13, etc. and the west mess had dirt roads already scratched out in anticipation of future eighbirhood and business construction. You could climb up La Luz and look out over the valley and see the grid laid out on the mesa. Unless you've got money and a stake in it, this isn't a nice place any more.

Ironically, this morning, someone tried to steal my S-I-L’s white truck from the West Mesa area. Sad. Burque is not the same place I grew up. 😢😭😡
It isn't even the same place I deliberately came to live in during the 70s. It was so special then. Albuq was only 220,000 people in 1972, and now it's at least 720,000. Plus transients and assorted others, MS13, etc. and the west mess had dirt roads already scratched out in anticipation of future eighbirhood and business construction. You could climb up La Luz and look out over the valley and see the grid laid out on the mesa. Unless you've got money and a stake in it, this isn't a nice place any more.

Still don't understand why the police have to stop at every red light when there is clearly no traffic and they're actively pursuing someone? Just gives the offending person more time to lose the cops. Yes I know you can't outrun a radio.
Because in Albuquerque lots of speeding drivers can come out of nowhere even when you've look both ways and see nothing... and broadside the cops' unit.
