However...for a being such as a human, it would not be possible to return to the present" Physics fun fact (in the spirit of questioning the world of Pokémon): you can theoretically travel to the future (an observer traveling near the speed of light will experience time much more slowly than an observer at rest), but not to the past (because of things like the grandfather paradox - if you went back to the past and killed your grandfather you wouldn't exist, but if you don't exist how were you able to kill your grandfather? - and because it violates the second law of thermodynamics, which says the entropy of a system can never decrease, but entropy tends to increase with time).
