I disagree. Through technology, games and people are more connected. -I have a national dex with Pokémon Home. Working through multiple games, you can almost catch them. Sure I can’t use my Snorlax in the current game but I’ve learned to enjoy others. -It’s easier to play with friends online and the new game allows us to roam an open world together so I can catch my own version exclusive game Pokémon. -Globally more people play online in battles and tournaments. We can even share teams to try them out. -In a world of instant gratification, we can get a shiny Pokémon easier or harder if we choose. Respecting the time of casual fans who live the game but also love doing other things. -The expansion of ribbons and marks have made playing previous games more relevant and challenging. As for paying more, that is a laughable argument. Minimum wage is now 12 to 14 an hour. For a 30 dollar expansion pass for the last game, I put in 30 plus hours catching and the stories. Simply put, Gamefreak is a business to make money. They do a good job because people pay for the games. If you don’t like it, that is ok. I felt the same way when they stopped using wooden rackets in tennis. Like me, you need to learn to get over it or move on from it.

You don't have to pay for anything. You got heavily preserved content 7 generations BEFORE the series became worse and it still has free online. Smash ultimate released every character only AFTER you paid years for games that didn't carry over every character. Pokemon always had every previous character in every new game. And this isn't some add 10 characters to every new game thing. The least we got was 72 characters added to a new generation. We have 807 Pokemon in gen 7 now and fans were pampered the entire way. You have no absolutely no right to complain.
I’ve always been a firm believer in not supporting the low quality of the Nintendo switch pokemon games. I stopped play at gen 6 as I feel it was the last gen that felt worth while playing. Gen 7 I will give a chance on. I just haven’t gotten around to it. :( I just wish people would have stopped buying the switch games as I’ve been telling people years to not buy them because their supporting the low quality of the switch games.
Yeah with hindsight just announcing DLC's would come and the pokemon included would be free would have been good but I suspect they didn't know at that time. And this time they don't really have to announce it for Scarlet and Violet because ti feels like the expectation. Looking forward to more docs :D

This event wasn't just about the National Dex being removed, it was also the tipping point for a lot of older Pokemon fans who were fed up with the direction that GF seemed to be taking 3D Pokemon's format. Features of previous games that were enjoyed were removed, making it so that players believed they were getting less content, while Pokemon games increased to a full $60. The clear lack of Polish in Sw/Sh also didn't help in the gameplay they showed, which was confirmed when the games actually released. The DLC packs put a bandaid on the issues the game had, but this was easily the Pokemon games that changed expectations regarding the franchise's quality.
SWSH was the second highest sold Pokémon game. It is currently ranked 5 all time in Switch sales. So comments like yours got likes but the reality is the average player didn’t care. The issues were not big enough to not buy the game. Millions enjoyed it. So in a world where 100k are mad and 25 million buy the game, who do you think they will listen too?

Lack of polish in a switch game, that's rich, no game ever on switch will be polished, the switch is far behind technically that everything looks like garbage in comparison to current gen. Also it's funny you talk about cut content when that happens in every Nintendo game ever. Example Botw has tons of battle ability based content missing from other Zeldas and those previous Zelda sequels were also missing battle ability based content from previous Zelda games.

Because of the Dex Cut, me and my nephews haven't played Pokemon since USUM. Can't say we've lost any sleep over it. Life goes on and there are many other fun games to play.
What if Pokemon ended after Gen 7? Had GF called it quits and made a contract for Pokemon to stay dead(like with BTTF and its creators after the third film). Where would fans be today since 2017?

This was so interesting! I was there when it happened, and there were details I didn't know about (the Japanese reaction, for example: you know it's really bad if they're angry, since Japanese culture is based on conflict avoidance). Yeah, I think the biggest issue was Game Freak not being transparent about *why* "Dexit" happened (and the fact independent modders were able to bring previous Pokémon back into the game just added fuel to the fire). All they said is that it would be a new policy going forward, which makes me think the National Dex just won't return anymore (we'll see what happens, though). Thanks for putting all that together (it sure was an important piece of history for the series)!
Good to have u back PDW! When I first heard about this, I was shocked and a bit disappointed this was happening. As a pokemon fan since childhood I though "that" formula wouldnt chance. Looking back at it while I was watching ur video( good 1 by the way), it doesnt bother me as much as b4. Now, its just expected plus with some pokemon its make sense cause they might overshadow the newer pokemon indroduced but at the same time gives us something familar enough to try and maybe even love.

The inescapable fact is that this was the dealbreaker for the legacy fans. This genuinely made people quit the series, myself included. Granted that doesn't matter to the success of the franchise, as the numbers are the highest they've ever been. Regardless, the vision of the legacy fans' idea of what pokemon could have been, and what Pokemon itself has become, are now too distant to ever coalesce again. And whether you like this new direction or not, you'll have to admit that this is kind of tragic.
I flat out don't play the mainseries anymore. In fact, I sold my whole collection of Pokemon games and all of my Pokemon cards. Put plainly, Gamefreak doesn't care about their fans; they haven't for years and won't anytime soon. The only Pokemon I play is GO and that's only cause my friends play it. It's not just about the national dex, but the game design and the performance. There is too much bad now and I just got tired of it.
You sound like what happened with people who grew up with gen 2 and 1 and sold all their games, pokemon related merchandise, and cards back in the early 2000’s in gen 3 because all the Pokémon couldn’t be traded in and all the Pokémon was in the gen 3 games. As well as pokemon who said in gen 3 that the gen 3 Pokémon didn’t really look like Pokémon back then.
Game Freak was determined never to make a full price console AAA pokemon game. They stuck to the handheld platforms for decades because that was what they knew. And when Nintendo pulled the rug from under them by making the Switch, a console handheld hybrid, they were forced to develop for it. But bitterly, they simply made another 3DS game placed begrudgingly on the Nintendo Switch. Consumers weren't stupid. They saw this for what it was, and they rightfully rebuffed them for it.
I'm perfectly fine with them patching in more returning Pokemon in the latest games over time. But the fact that SwSh is over and done and we still can't have every Pokemon transferrable doesn't give me much hope for the future..
Now in Scarlet/Violet we still don’t have National Dex Pokemon games are always fun but I’ll continue to voice my disapproval in the decision of removing the ability to transfer every Pokémon in existence into to future games they could easily just ban the broken pokemon from comp 🤷🏼♂️

I still don't understand the people that oppose the bring back national dex movement... If it never comes back, they still have what they want... and if it does come back, they're not hurt in any way shape or form.
it confuses me too, but i guess they really just hate half the pokemon for some reason so they want them to be excluded from games. the whole reasoning and justification of removal of national dex for competitive makes no sense, since they could jsut ban the op pokemon from formats.
I am mind boggled as to why any fan of Pokémon would advocate for a game not allowing ALL Pokémon.. I mean if you have a favorite and it's not as popular as a Pikachu or Psyduck it is unlikely to be in the newer games. Why should those people miss out? Why would anyone want less content in general when the prices doubled between Gen 7 (featuring every single Pokémon across every generation) and Gen 8 (A fraction of the content, half the Pokémon missing, but COOL GRAPHICS BRO). Why would we wanna pay an extra $40 ($60 including DLC) for a far lesser experience? What's the point of Pokémon now? That's the real question.
I don't feel like the in-battle models were/are the problem. With the new mechanics, you need to be able to animate every pokemon moving about in the overworld: whether it's following you or roaming around.
I do miss the national dex, but I thought it was fine as long as they would give more attention the pokemon they included. Sword & Shield in particular did not look like an upgrade on animations, behaviour of a pokemon at all, with games that released later like PLA, Scarlet & Violet I feel it's justified now, but not at that time.

I was mad because they promised us that they wouldn't cut Pokemon three different times. 1) right after gen 5 we could never cut pokemon. 2) during bank Pokemon bank was made to keep Pokemon for all future generations. 3) right after lets go we are trying to not have a gen 2 -gen 3 situation again and we are working on a way for you to transfer your Pokemon to the next main series games. It became something you would always expect them to do because they were able to do it on weaker systems. Whats the big problem on a stronger home console system?
If cutting transferability of Pokemon was always the plan why did they bother making home? and why not one single mention of this big change that zero fans were expecting for a 60 dollar main series game+ 20 online for battling and trading which used to be free
Here's one way to solve the problem. raid events like Pokémon go does but better first event 151 cant Pokemon available in raids in scarlet and violet mewto is the boss Pokemon and you have to beat the boss to be able to use your Pokemon in the games and it can be every few months to keep the Game alive instead of beat story beat post game and do nothing until the next 7 star raid comes in.

Interestingly enough i saw an uptick in people in the digimon fandom shortly after swsh launched. Right around digimon story cyberslueth games came out. Digimon cashed in on it and is thriving, churning out high quality games, nonstop new anime, a awesome tcg and tons of merch. Persona blew up with persona 5 and suddenly there was a bunch of monster taming/collecting/battling games popping up on steam. Even monster rancher came back from the dead with switch ports of old games and an ultraman crossover. Pokemon really screwed the pooch during gen 8. With a single gen of games they sent fans packing to other fandoms, managed to empower their biggest competitor, bring back old ones and revive an rpg genre that up until then they managed to dominate to the point of almost having a monopoly on it. The saddest part is they havent learned a thing and continue to nosedive the pokemon franchise in gen 9 by copying cyberpunk 2077 and fallout 76. Theyre even shelving ash and pikachu from the anime. Im glad the genre is finally thriving because of it but what are they thinking? Pokemon company has become the ea games of the monster taming genre and i hate it.
Buggy unfinished games+yearly or bi-yearly releases is more like ea than bethesda. Bethesda would let it cook for 15 years then release something like sv.

Ea sports puts out buggy messes yearly or bi-yearly with the same gameplay and assets repackaged. Thats literally what 3d pokemon has done since gen 6. The only difference is sv has better textures for some 3d models but ea sports games sometimes upgrade graphics between releases too.

Sv is actually closer to ea sports with how it launched. Both are yearly messes that its fans will buy regardless no matter how bad it is. Fans of all 3 companies are guilty of it but at least bethesda games fans have the peace of mind from knowing any single player fallout or elderscrolls game will have mods to make the game worth it. Pokemon and ea players are sol for the most part because they are mostly locked in console jail or are live services.
I do hope eventually we will get a Game on the switch with full roster Access cause I don't see them moving to the next console when Pokémon are still trapped in an app unable to do anything but look at you.
When the news first came out, I thought it was a situation like Ruby and Sapphire where you simply couldn't transfer Pokemon from older gens to the Switch due to hardware stuff, but the Pokemon themselves were still coded in the game. Hoo boy, was I wrong.
The dex cut made me loose interest in Pokémon. Which is a good thing because now I've started playing less Nintendo games and trying out others, I've now played Final Fantasy 1-6 and playing 7 now, Resident Evil is now probably my favourite game franchise, and I got to dust off my PS2 and discovered the immense library of games from that era that I've never played before, SMT/Persona is technically my Pokémon replacement now. Still, it's sad that the majority of the community and the casual fan base have just accepted the Dex cut even though the games are more expensive and buggy than ever, soon it'll be $70 for each game. I don't think I'll ever go back to playing a Pokémon game, the last mainline game I've played was USUM and the last spin off I played was Pokémon Masters, which I played daily until they made an update I didn't like around October last year. Great video anyway, made me watch a video made by a Pokétuber, which I haven't done in a while.
That day just showed in the long run that most of Pokémon fan based are mindless consoomers without self respect, the remakes and scarlet and violet just proved it even more. The games will keep getting worse, dlc will keep making them more money instead of having them deliver a full game and you guys will still buy it. My take on this whole National Dex controversy was that it was bound to happen eventually. Sure, it should've been handled more gracefully, especially since they did it at one of the biggest stages in gaming at the time so they definitely deserved to be criticized about it, but it was blown so far out of proportion that it made talking about Pokémon about as fun as a political debate. And now that it's been 3 years since the incident and we're now at 1008 individual Pokémon (with more to come through DLC and other side games), I can comfortably say that if Dexit didn't happen in 2019, it was going to happen when Gen 10 releases on whatever Nintendo's new console will be.

the argument play the older games doesn't work Nintendo is shutting down Online servers for Nintendo 3ds so that means if Pokemon fans get a 3ds after march no Access to red blue yellow crystal gold and silver games no Access to Pokemon bank or Pokemon transporter and I don't know if wonder trade will still work or not because that's another reason. also some older Pokémon games are around 400 dollars now in some stores I've seen pictures Online
@@mattmccoy22594 that's what happens when things get older because finding them becomes more difficult it's not up to an individual to decide whether or not to steal the license products and then distributed amongst those who cannot afford but it's really up to everyone to wait patiently for it to be re-released for by the company so if you held onto your older games when they came out originally you should have him still available to you even though some of the online features will go down at least you can still obtain all of the Pokemon that are in your respective game itself and as you moving forward through the the generations you can continue your journey on collecting the Pokemon you are missing you don't need to play the older games to enjoy Pokemon but if you have them it's nice to have and play them still is the same thing for other things in the music and or movies especially in the game that is for fun but also its collective competition and we need to respect the rules that were set in place by the companies for fair gameplay and there's hundreds of other ways to obtain Pokemon that you can't have in your game so you can complete your living Dex in Pokemon home by using Pokemon go if you really wanted to complete Pokedex mythical Pokemon are different story because those are a special events in only very few of them are obtainable in game that's the beauty of Pokemon collecting exploring how many finally achieve what you want you're super happy can't believe I have to explain this to another adult there you go
I lost interest in Pokémon once it became impossible to "catch 'em all". I still played gen 8 and gen 9, but they're not a priority like they were before.. I had been carrying some of my Pokémon since 2003, and not being able to use them just feels like something not worth investing in. The games feel sloppy, the stories are boring, and anyone saying the new games are better just because of the graphics are casuals who will not have the same longevity with the franchise as the hardcore fan base. This was a bad move and as time goes on that will become more evident as the casuals move on to something else and the fanbase gives up on being ignored to cater to the "pretty game" audience.. A horrible decision that will be brought up in future conversations when discussing the gradual downfall of the franchise.
This is such an embarrassing moment in the history of Pokémon 🤦🏽♂️ I think it just showed how entitled and loud some individuals from the community can be. The Dex-cut never bothered me personally, I just enjoy the new Pokémon and lore that comes with each new game.
@@GameFreakSucks I am extremely far away from being a casual Pokémon player 😅 I have been playing Pokémon since generation 1 on gameboy, never missed a generation. I completed the National Dex, Living Dex on Home, and battle competitively online. Not having a favorite Pokémon in the newest game can be a bummer, but not something to riot over when there are a numerous amount of other favorites to be played with. When I play a new game, I do enjoy seeing what the new region has to offer, especially with their new Pokémon. Not to mention, on a competitive level, it is great to not have past Pokémon in the mix for a bit, that way new strategies are being used and the competitive scene stays fresh.
A vocal minority of adults got upset about a game designed for 5 year olds. That is the reality of what happened. And did it make a difference? No. Every still bought it. This happens a lot.
How are these arguments dumb. every Pokemon is someone favorite - true cutting Pokemon didn't add anything to the game- true Pokémon home is completely useless unless you play Pokémon go - true all the models were future proofed for the switch by creatures inc- true. Funny how the games price went from $40 to $60 and we somehow got less content. For anyone trying to say there's too many Pokemon now to include, Gamefreak could literally hire a studio just to make Pokemon models and animations, hell they could hire two or three and their games would still be insanely profitable.

Because of the Dex Cut, me and my nephews haven't played Pokemon since USUM. Can't say we've lost any sleep over it. Life goes on and there are many other fun games to play.
Same with me I've now tried out more franchises that I didn't think I'll ever get into.
What if Pokemon ended after Gen 7? Had GF called it quits and made a contract for Pokemon to stay dead(like with BTTF and its creators after the third film). Where would fans be today since 2017?

This was so interesting! I was there when it happened, and there were details I didn't know about (the Japanese reaction, for example: you know it's really bad if they're angry, since Japanese culture is based on conflict avoidance). Yeah, I think the biggest issue was Game Freak not being transparent about *why* "Dexit" happened (and the fact independent modders were able to bring previous Pokémon back into the game just added fuel to the fire). All they said is that it would be a new policy going forward, which makes me think the National Dex just won't return anymore (we'll see what happens, though). Thanks for putting all that together (it sure was an important piece of history for the series)!

Good to have u back PDW! When I first heard about this, I was shocked and a bit disappointed this was happening. As a pokemon fan since childhood I though "that" formula wouldnt chance. Looking back at it while I was watching ur video( good 1 by the way), it doesnt bother me as much as b4. Now, its just expected plus with some pokemon its make sense cause they might overshadow the newer pokemon indroduced but at the same time gives us something familar enough to try and maybe even love.

The inescapable fact is that this was the dealbreaker for the legacy fans. This genuinely made people quit the series, myself included. Granted that doesn't matter to the success of the franchise, as the numbers are the highest they've ever been. Regardless, the vision of the legacy fans' idea of what pokemon could have been, and what Pokemon itself has become, are now too distant to ever coalesce again. And whether you like this new direction or not, you'll have to admit that this is kind of tragic.
I flat out don't play the mainseries anymore. In fact, I sold my whole collection of Pokemon games and all of my Pokemon cards. Put plainly, Gamefreak doesn't care about their fans; they haven't for years and won't anytime soon. The only Pokemon I play is GO and that's only cause my friends play it. It's not just about the national dex, but the game design and the performance. There is too much bad now and I just got tired of it.
You sound like what happened with people who grew up with gen 2 and 1 and sold all their games, pokemon related merchandise, and cards back in the early 2000’s in gen 3 because all the Pokémon couldn’t be traded in and all the Pokémon was in the gen 3 games. As well as pokemon who said in gen 3 that the gen 3 Pokémon didn’t really look like Pokémon back then.
Game Freak was determined never to make a full price console AAA pokemon game. They stuck to the handheld platforms for decades because that was what they knew. And when Nintendo pulled the rug from under them by making the Switch, a console handheld hybrid, they were forced to develop for it. But bitterly, they simply made another 3DS game placed begrudgingly on the Nintendo Switch. Consumers weren't stupid. They saw this for what it was, and they rightfully rebuffed them for it.

I'm perfectly fine with them patching in more returning Pokemon in the latest games over time. But the fact that SwSh is over and done and we still can't have every Pokemon transferrable doesn't give me much hope for the future..
Now in Scarlet/Violet we still don’t have National Dex Pokemon games are always fun but I’ll continue to voice my disapproval in the decision of removing the ability to transfer every Pokémon in existence into to future games they could easily just ban the broken pokemon from comp 🤷🏼♂️

I still don't understand the people that oppose the bring back national dex movement... If it never comes back, they still have what they want... and if it does come back, they're not hurt in any way shape or form.
it confuses me too, but i guess they really just hate half the pokemon for some reason so they want them to be excluded from games. the whole reasoning and justification of removal of national dex for competitive makes no sense, since they could jsut ban the op pokemon from formats.
I am mind boggled as to why any fan of Pokémon would advocate for a game not allowing ALL Pokémon.. I mean if you have a favorite and it's not as popular as a Pikachu or Psyduck it is unlikely to be in the newer games. Why should those people miss out? Why would anyone want less content in general when the prices doubled between Gen 7 (featuring every single Pokémon across every generation) and Gen 8 (A fraction of the content, half the Pokémon missing, but COOL GRAPHICS BRO). Why would we wanna pay an extra $40 ($60 including DLC) for a far lesser experience? What's the point of Pokémon now? That's the real question.

I don't feel like the in-battle models were/are the problem. With the new mechanics, you need to be able to animate every pokemon moving about in the overworld: whether it's following you or roaming around.

I do miss the national dex, but I thought it was fine as long as they would give more attention the pokemon they included. Sword & Shield in particular did not look like an upgrade on animations, behaviour of a pokemon at all, with games that released later like PLA, Scarlet & Violet I feel it's justified now, but not at that time.

I was mad because they promised us that they wouldn't cut Pokemon three different times. 1) right after gen 5 we could never cut pokemon. 2) during bank Pokemon bank was made to keep Pokemon for all future generations. 3) right after lets go we are trying to not have a gen 2 -gen 3 situation again and we are working on a way for you to transfer your Pokemon to the next main series games. It became something you would always expect them to do because they were able to do it on weaker systems. Whats the big problem on a stronger home console system?
If cutting transferability of Pokemon was always the plan why did they bother making home? and why not one single mention of this big change that zero fans were expecting for a 60 dollar main series game+ 20 online for battling and trading which used to be free
Here's one way to solve the problem. raid events like Pokémon go does but better first event 151 cant Pokemon available in raids in scarlet and violet mewto is the boss Pokemon and you have to beat the boss to be able to use your Pokemon in the games and it can be every few months to keep the Game alive instead of beat story beat post game and do nothing until the next 7 star raid comes in.

Haven't played a pokemon game since USUM I miss this series but I won't be buying a another pokemon game until we get a game that includes everything.
Interestingly enough i saw an uptick in people in the digimon fandom shortly after swsh launched. Right around digimon story cyberslueth games came out. Digimon cashed in on it and is thriving, churning out high quality games, nonstop new anime, a awesome tcg and tons of merch. Persona blew up with persona 5 and suddenly there was a bunch of monster taming/collecting/battling games popping up on steam. Even monster rancher came back from the dead with switch ports of old games and an ultraman crossover.
Pokemon really screwed the pooch during gen 8. With a single gen of games they sent fans packing to other fandoms, managed to empower their biggest competitor, bring back old ones and revive an rpg genre that up until then they managed to dominate to the point of almost having a monopoly on it. The saddest part is they havent learned a thing and continue to nosedive the pokemon franchise in gen 9 by copying cyberpunk 2077 and fallout 76. Theyre even shelving ash and pikachu from the anime. Im glad the genre is finally thriving because of it but what are they thinking? Pokemon company has become the ea games of the monster taming genre and i hate it.

Bethesda games are always years apart. Fallout 76 was no different. Ea sports puts out buggy messes yearly or bi-yearly with the same gameplay and assets repackaged. Thats literally what 3d pokemon has done since gen 6. The only difference is sv has better textures for some 3d models but ea sports games sometimes upgrade graphics between releases too.
@@Pepperknight341 the bethesda comparison is mainly a meme because bethesda bugs are a meme and their games are more well known for being buggy. Sv is actually closer to ea sports with how it launched. Both are yearly messes that its fans will buy regardless no matter how bad it is.
Fans of all 3 companies are guilty of it but at least bethesda games fans have the peace of mind from knowing any single player fallout or elderscrolls game will have mods to make the game worth it. Pokemon and ea players are sol for the most part because they are mostly locked in console jail or are live services.
I do hope eventually we will get a Game on the switch with full roster Access cause I don't see them moving to the next console when Pokémon are still trapped in an app unable to do anything but look at you.

When the news first came out, I thought it was a situation like Ruby and Sapphire where you simply couldn't transfer Pokemon from older gens to the Switch due to hardware stuff, but the Pokemon themselves were still coded in the game.

The dex cut made me loose interest in Pokémon. Which is a good thing because now I've started playing less Nintendo games and trying out others, I've now played Final Fantasy 1-6 and playing 7 now, Resident Evil is now probably my favourite game franchise, and I got to dust off my PS2 and discovered the immense library of games from that era that I've never played before, SMT/Persona is technically my Pokémon replacement now.
Still, it's sad that the majority of the community and the casual fan base have just accepted the Dex cut even though the games are more expensive and buggy than ever, soon it'll be $70 for each game. I don't think I'll ever go back to playing a Pokémon game, the last mainline game I've played was USUM and the last spin off I played was Pokémon Masters, which I played daily until they made an update I didn't like around October last year.

ong, people just accept it like that and dont mind. and im definitely convinced most of them are new to the franchise and are probably unaware of what previous games had to offer. i dont see the excuse for there not being national dex, since largest media franchise in the world should definitely have enough money to hire more than 169 developers to work on the game. it gets even worse when you see the scarlet/violet incident. literally THE most pre-ordered pokemon game of all time and at same time best launch of ANY console-exclusive game in HISTORY, and along with dex cut it runs like shit. unfinished product sold for full price. no one can brainwash me into thinking otherwise, gamefreak is COMPLETELY capable of adding at least national dex to the game if not anything else, but its sad that we are expecting bare minimum from, and i will say it again, the biggest media franchise in the entire world, bigger than star wars, harry potter, hello kitty, yu-gi-oh ect.
My take on this whole National Dex controversy was that it was bound to happen eventually. Sure, it should've been handled more gracefully, especially since they did it at one of the biggest stages in gaming at the time so they definitely deserved to be criticized about it, but it was blown so far out of proportion that it made talking about Pokémon about as fun as a political debate.
And now that it's been 3 years since the incident and we're now at 1008 individual Pokémon (with more to come through DLC and other side games), I can comfortably say that if Dexit didn't happen in 2019, it was going to happen when Gen 10 releases on whatever Nintendo's new console will be.

the argument play the older games doesn't work Nintendo is shutting down Online servers for Nintendo 3ds so that means if Pokemon fans get a 3ds after march no Access to red blue yellow crystal gold and silver games no Access to Pokemon bank or Pokemon transporter and I don't know if wonder trade will still work or not because that's another reason. also some older Pokémon games are around 400 dollars now in some stores I've seen pictures Online
@@mattmccoy22594 that's what happens when things get older because finding them becomes more difficult it's not up to an individual to decide whether or not to steal the license products and then distributed amongst those who cannot afford but it's really up to everyone to wait patiently for it to be re-released for by the company so if you held onto your older games when they came out originally you should have him still available to you even though some of the online features will go down at least you can still obtain all of the Pokemon that are in your respective game itself and as you moving forward through the the generations you can continue your journey on collecting the Pokemon you are missing you don't need to play the older games to enjoy Pokemon but if you have them it's nice to have and play them still is the same thing for other things in the music and or movies especially in the game that is for fun but also its collective competition and we need to respect the rules that were set in place by the companies for fair gameplay and there's hundreds of other ways to obtain Pokemon that you can't have in your game so you can complete your living Dex in Pokemon home by using Pokemon go if you really wanted to complete Pokedex mythical Pokemon are different story because those are a special events in only very few of them are obtainable in game that's the beauty of Pokemon collecting exploring how many finally achieve what you want you're super happy can't believe I have to explain this to another adult there you go
I lost interest in Pokémon once it became impossible to "catch 'em all". I still played gen 8 and gen 9, but they're not a priority like they were before.. I had been carrying some of my Pokémon since 2003, and not being able to use them just feels like something not worth investing in. The games feel sloppy, the stories are boring, and anyone saying the new games are better just because of the graphics are casuals who will not have the same longevity with the franchise as the hardcore fan base. This was a bad move and as time goes on that will become more evident as the casuals move on to something else and the fanbase gives up on being ignored to cater to the "pretty game" audience.. A horrible decision that will be brought up in future conversations when discussing the gradual downfall of the franchise.
This is such an embarrassing moment in the history of Pokémon 🤦🏽♂️ I think it just showed how entitled and loud some individuals from the community can be.
The Dex-cut never bothered me personally, I just enjoy the new Pokémon and lore that comes with each new game.

I am extremely far away from being a casual Pokémon player 😅 I have been playing Pokémon since generation 1 on gameboy, never missed a generation. I completed the National Dex, Living Dex on Home, and battle competitively online.
Not having a favorite Pokémon in the newest game can be a bummer, but not something to riot over when there are a numerous amount of other favorites to be played with.
When I play a new game, I do enjoy seeing what the new region has to offer, especially with their new Pokémon. Not to mention, on a competitive level, it is great to not have past Pokémon in the mix for a bit, that way new strategies are being used and the competitive scene stays fresh.
A vocal minority of adults got upset about a game designed for 5 year olds.
That is the reality of what happened.
And did it make a difference? No. Every still bought it. This happens a lot.

Funny how the games price went from $40 to $60 and we somehow got less content. For anyone trying to say there's too many Pokemon now to include, Gamefreak could literally hire a studio just to make Pokemon models and animations, hell they could hire two or three and their games would still be insanely profitable.
