    Andrew as the king of lighting reviews on youtube, would absolutely love it if you could add a skin tone comparison category to your reviews. Especially in regards to RGBWW and RGBLAC against mono and bicolor lights. Thanks for everything you do.

      You mean an actual real world example?
      He would need an actual Cine cam and a model for that.. alot of Work for something that would really only work If he had the same camera and model every single time.
      For me, the spectrometer numbers tell me alot more.

      That's stepping into highly subjective territory, and is highly camera-dependant (and subject dependant). Does not seem like a thing Andrew would do, or could even do consistently.

    Hey mate. Just a note that if you are filming in 25fps, or exporting at 25fps - its best that your shutter speed is double the frame rate so that you have the correct motion blur. So 25fps - 50 shutter. Love your work - apologies if you know this and are using the faster SS for some other reason.

    Hi Andrew, thanks for the review. Why is the bi-colour version brighter? Are they using newer LEDs?
    Surely Nanlux didn't all of a sudden discover a new array. Any idea what's happening!?

    Looks like an incredible light. I've been looking to buy a light of this caliber, but to be honest with all the releases and everything swirling it feels like a risky time to buy if you're not making a return with a pretty short time.
    Waiting to see how the Prolycht Orion 675 fits into the lineup. - Have you got your hands on one yet?
    Feels like it's only a matter of time until until there is a RGBACL in the 1200w range also.

    Hi Andrew, I love your reviews and relay on them before making timely purchases of gear. I was wondering if a review of Godox Knowled MG1200Bi was in the works? Seems like a pretty good unit giving Aputure & Nanlux a run for the money.

  • @cfl4286
    @cfl4286 2 года назад +1

    I’m really wondering how the bi color is brighter. I was thinking that Nanlux were just adding more wattage without advertising it seeing as how the daylight version doesn’t use 1200 watts. This does seem to pull a little more but not as much as expected. Interesting technology they have here.

    My biggest Issue with this light is, the Narrow reflector is wider than the one for the Aputure 1200d and I’ve been mostly using the Narrow reflector on my 1200d. And I would usually prefer an even Narrower Beam.

    • @funny2thag

      The FL-35YK fresnel has a 11º spot beam angle if you need narrower spot.

      Andrews test results show that it’s significantly brighter. I got a 720 daylight because it was in touching distance of an evoke for cheaper…. But this 1200b is next level for a bi-colour light

    Hi Andrew, Thank you so much for your wonderfully videos! ❤ I’m wondering how far from an 8x frame would this light with 60% reflector have to be to fill the frame?

    • @gaffergear
      @gaffergear  Год назад +1

      I'm trying to visualise my sets, I think I'm usually about 2 to 2.5m back. I think if I'm around 2.5m back or further I have to deploy cutters to deal with stray light going around the 8x

  • @michaelmiller7928

    Do you think that Aputure will answer with a bi-colour 1200d (1200x then I guess)

  • @TheIQProductions
    @TheIQProductions Год назад

    This does look perfect - only thing that bugs me is the fact I'd be paying that much money and then potentially not being able to realistically use it because of the fan noise - obviously in most cases the light can be a fair distance away due to the output but for the times I'd like to bounce it off some ultra bounce for an exterior when poly isn't cutting it or when trying to compete with large bright windows - I can see this light being amazing if it weren't for the fan noise- does anybody know if a firmware update might fix this in future?

    • @johnpaulporitz
      @johnpaulporitz 2 года назад

      @@PhilHover yeah, played with this light last month, but didn't mess with the fresnel. Thought 70% sounded way too high but I've been impressed by the quality of the Nan/lux/lite optics, so I thought: well I've heard of crazier things.

    • @gaffergear

      17%. I should put text as well

  • @jfratis9081
    @jfratis9081 Год назад

    The Aputure frensel on a 1200d doesnt really work at all. For me the lights live with the fresnel on them but I only use the spot flood feature. They simply dont allow any kind of flagging to make a nice cut. The fact that this one has doors that work on some level is already way better.

    • @dominikhaberstock
      @dominikhaberstock 2 года назад

      No that would be clearly to easy! But in all seriousness I get why you might want to have the range of motion in that dierektion without having to unplug it. Lighting gags for example. Also it helps with balancing a big modifier on a stand

    • @gaffergear

      You lose about 45⁰ of tilt option between the two cable positions because of the thickness of the connector.

    Interesting that the battery in a controller is illegal in your country. I can probably envision that it was to prevent children from swallowing an electrical unit and harming themselves or worse.
    Edit: I pressed play and you said just that haha well that confirms it

    • @paulmailath612
      @paulmailath612 Год назад

      while it it a serious problem, I'm not sure where Andrew got his figure of 2-3 deaths - according to a 2020 Choice report "In Australia, three children have now died after swallowing a button battery. Product Safety Australia estimates that 20 children a week are presenting at emergency departments nationwide suspected of having swallowed or inserted a button battery."
