Thank you for another excellent lesson and demonstration on an interesting topic! I appreciate the tips. Everything looks great. I like how you left the tree stump in the ground. I love your plant perimeter and I love your purple heart. We've had a small amount of purple heart in a pot for a long time, and now we want to plant a lot of it as ground cover. It's a great plant. It's unique, it has a great color, and it's hearty and adaptable. It's cool to see it in your forest. It looks really nice. Thanks again! Your videos are always beautiful, calming, and inspiring!
This topic has been on my mind 🧠 as of late , thanks . Keeps the owner less cats from doing their business too . I have been using the old pruned cut up , sago palm 🌴 leaves as mulch . It seems to work for me , along with ground cover that has flowers . I was going to add Marigolds to my garden for keeping the bad bugs away , while adding pollinators
@@TropicalCentralValleyive seen the plants that grow straight and the flowers resemble a red plumeria but there are stickers all along the main branch ? Those will do the job
Always learn a lot for your videos. Much appreciated. I have a coconut cream mango tree in ground in Bakersfield. Producing every year. It amazes me how a mango fruit can have a distinct coconut flavor. You'll love it.
@@TropicalCentralValley haha, same here. How long did it take your durian seeds to germinate? I have 2 seeds that show a little germination progress after 5 weeks.
@@TropicalCentralValley ~Here in the southern coast of Texas, I've got the runner-type grasses...Saint Augustine {real aggressive type that even climbs up wire fencing} and Bermuda {deep underground runners
Love coconut cream mango one of my fav zill mango creations. mine is bearing fruit for the first time this year . Only issue I have is that the branches will grow stringy like a weeping willow including the trunk so will need support stakes for the first 5 years or so .
That’s awesome. Yeah, I will need to structural provide support to the branches, although grafted, I’m hoping because mine is fairly small that it’ll fair better, structurally.
Great video! Love your garden! Tip: You can press the camera looking logo on the right of your google search bar to take a picture and identify any plant..try it!🪴
@@TropicalCentralValley Cool probably no big deal! I love your garden btw!! It's inspiring me to switch up my tree selection. I live in 10A so looking for more tropics. I have 2 lychees, 2 avocados, thinking hard about your ice cream bean and coconut cream mango
Another viewer mentioned they may be fish mints/herb and after looking it up, mine indeed are. Mine grows super tall for some reason. Super invasive roots though.
Just about all of my ground covering plants are edible, but some require additional preparations. Unfortunately, I don’t know what many are called. Another option is the planting of comfrey. Although not edible, they make great chop and drop fertilizer.
lol it’s funny I was looking at that same chicken coop on Amazon the other day I’m looking for one that can hold 3-4 egg laying chicken how do you like yours. Can it handle that many chicken ?
Nice. Realistically, 2 “average sized” hens. In my case, because I have two smaller, chicks/juvenile hens, those two stay in the top story while the larger hen stays downstairs. There is a door that isolates the two stories. Overall, it’s an excellent coop. Took me about 45 minutes to construct.

Totally. It looks nice, but once poked, anything will avoid it for life.

Very nice.
Interestingly, All parts of Sago palms are extremely toxic to dogs, cats, and children with the seeds being the most toxic.
That’s great to know, though I can’t imagine anything besides bug eating any sago parts, especially the fronds.
In my case, I use mine for mulch.

Yeah, I look forward to it. Now, only if there were a durian flavored mango variety, then my bucket list is complete.
@@TropicalCentralValley haha, same here. How long did it take your durian seeds to germinate? I have 2 seeds that show a little germination progress after 5 weeks.
You should see it sprouting in about 3 weeks. If the seeds do not look dead, I’d keep at it.
I am so tired of being a slave to our invasive grass/lawn. I want a beneficial yard like yours..., my own little paradise🌱🦋🌳💐🍉🥭
Totally. It’s not hard suffocating the grass to make room for more beneficial plants and trees. The dead grass makes excellent biomass and nutrients.
@@TropicalCentralValley ~Here in the southern coast of Texas, I've got the runner-type grasses...Saint Augustine {real aggressive type that even climbs up wire fencing} and Bermuda {deep underground runners
Yup, that’s what my neighbors have. They run up against my fence and even through my foot of mulch, but I keep pulling them.
@@TropicalCentralValley Horrible stuff...We used to be so proud of it, but it's spread over most of our 6 acres ~Good evening
Totally agree.
❤beautiful flowers! 🌺
Thank you. The tropical fruits taste great, but the flowers are a great bonus.

I’ve had mixed results with the plant identification apps and services.
You’re place like very nice and full👍
Thank you.
@@TropicalCentralValley nice warm weather!
Warm during the day and super cool during the nights. It’s been an awesome year so far.
At 11:29 is that a Norfolk Island Pine in your neighbors front yard? I love those trees but they can get huge and it is very close to the house
Not too sure. The tree has been there for the past 11 years and seems to grow insanely slow.

Thank you.
It looks like chameleon plant aka fish herb. However, fish herb is a ground cover plant. It doesn't grow that tall.
Another viewer mentioned they may be fish mints/herb and after looking it up, mine indeed are.
Mine grows super tall for some reason. Super invasive roots though.
Good one. Thanks!
Thank you.
Mulching keeps a healthy eco system. Keeps nutrients and moisture in soil requiring les watering sessions. Win win scenario.
Totally. I didn’t go into details on mulching, as I had an earlier video that covers the topic in super details.
I love your fruit forest! If you are getting rid of any red crown of thorn, I would love to get one😅they are beautiful. Thanks for sharing!
Thank you.
Every now and then, your local Lowe’s or Home Depot sells them. You can also find them at local flea markets/swap meets.
Wow! Love the Crown of Thorns!! Your garden is amazing 🤩
Do you know what the SE Asian edible climber in the front yard is called?
Would you know the timestamp in the video that shows the plant in question?
Is that jewels of opar at 11:20 in the background? I grow lots of cut flowers for whatever reason I have never been able to grow that one lol
It is. Mine has been extremely invasive when the seed drops from flowers.
@@TropicalCentralValleyperhaps it was a good thing I couldn’t grow them lol I think 17:21 is called fish mint
Thanks. They indeed are fish mints. Tastes great, but super invasive.
How are you able to grow papaya? I’m interested in growing some, also located in Central Valley.
They are perhaps one of the easiest tropical fruit trees to grow in the Central Valley.
Is that a taro plant in between the crown of throrns?
Taro and Elephant Ear. Give is a Jurassic Park feeling.
Any edible ground cover that you’ve considered? I’ve heard strawberries but I’ve only grown them in pots.
Just about all of my ground covering plants are edible, but some require additional preparations. Unfortunately, I don’t know what many are called.

@@TropicalCentralValley ah nice. I will look into comfrey!
The comfrey also produce very attractive flowers. It’s a total win-win.

@@TropicalCentralValley awesome ok that helps a lot and gives me a idea of what I can expect thank you .
You’re very welcome. Been super happy with the overall construction (for the price, was $196 at the time) and setup.
Do you get mosquitos ?
Yup, along with the whole city. We can’t seem to escape them, especially due to the more than usual winter rain.
I'm here! Lol
Hello there. Welcome.
How much do I need to spend to become your friend please I am joking or hacking let me know thank you
Welcome to the tropical fruit tree growers online community, where everyone is a friend.
this is off topic, but why your expression looks like you're in pain. if i have your yard i'll be smiling, not in pain getting my hands dirty
Not in pain, but my normal expression for happiness.
Do you a dog?
I did, however, having lived a very long and fulfilling life, she is no longer with us.
