I found this experience funny in how you explained every aspect of a conversation about wood, metal and plastic.. For me the mind and style shape the notes produced no matter who's bass it is as in sitting in on someone else's bass..
Good points here muh brother. I have a shitload of basses, from a Squier 54 Paranormal Jazz to a '78 Ric 4001 I bought new. I get as excited to play the '54 as my G&L CLF L-2000 or the Ric, or the Player Plus Jazz or even my '08 MIJ Mustang. Last gig I used the Player Plus and Rumble 500 because it fit the genre. Sometimes it's the GK stack. Good stuff thanks!
The major advantage of an expensive instrument is reliability. I play a Sandberg 5 string (price class1500$) and this thing never failed me in 17 years. It stays in tune, even when it was in the car at -20°C, there is no need to adjust the neck to temperature changes. That's why I do not own a second bass... yet. Talking about sound - there are many cheap instruments with an excellent sound. Just by chance the wood pieces fit well together and their resonance curves somehow sound good with the resonance curve of the pickup. Many professional musicians also own some cheap guitars and basses because they have this magic something. I know a pro guitarist who still loves his old Epiphone LP although he owns a 8k Gibson.
Awesome video brother. I have a guitar that was purchased for $150 that plays wonderfully. It’s a Sterling S.U.B. AX4. I did changed out the pickups for some Dimarzio’s I really liked. Other than that, it does exactly what I ask of it as is. Sure, it!s a cheap guitar, but the fact that my mother (who taught me how to play guitar as a child) bought it for me as a gift before she passed. So to me, it’s priceless. I pick it up just as often as I do my $1200 Charvels.
The combo of the Don Cheadle poster and the cheesy graphics actually made me spit my drink out all over my monitor. Thanks, pal!!! Okay, unexpected and funny. But look at this mess! Otherwise, cool video.
By the way....... you're a fukken jenius. Lol. That car analogy, and the "picture is worth 1000 words" approach you took were fukken GOLD!!!! The fancy cars do indeed get the ladies. Lol. And that folded arms guy never lied. 😂😂😂😂 Bruh, how the hell did you explain a dissertation's worth of perspective in 5 minutes?!????? EDIT: I almost teared up at that old lady in a wheelchair. You really had to hit us in the emotional nutsack like that, didn't ya? 😭 You hit us with the GRANNY!!!!! That's not fair! I tell ya!!!! From the cookies, to the cakes, to the peppermints, to the whoopings with a fly swatter, to the wisdom, to the unconditional love and appreciation she had........bruh. That wasn't fair!!! 😭😭😭😭😭😭 But forreal, that part hit home because I love my late grandma. She didn't give me the bass.......but she gave me everything else. ✊🏾✊🏾✊🏾 This was a great vid.
It’s the player not the equipment. I would put money on it no one tell the difference unless the bass was really F**ked and for the record I have 2 basses worth $4000 each 😜. Great video 👍🏻
just remember the Höfner bass made famous by McCartney was the CHEAPEST bass the Beatles could find at 85 quid ( THAT, and that alone , was the reason they picked it )
@@Rib13Bass it's actually both . Macca himself has said that they convinced Stu Sutcliffe to purchase the 85 quid bass from his first earnings as a painter ( hence we know the precise amount ) and he later purchased the Höfner in Hamburg ( which was indeed the only lefty in the store ) . That bass is now selling for 2,5 k retail price so in hindsight Höfner must be very pleased with Paul . Think most famous rock guitarists ( or bass players ) started out on the crappiest gear imaginable
Finally! Some "Cheap Love"! Not everybody can afford to shuck out $1K plus for a main axe. You hit the nail on the head with this one. Now...throw some quarter pounders in it. Sand the neck, and call it a day!
I got a question. Theoretically, could the problem just be solved by both sides being willing to at least acknowledge the opposite side and go like, "I respectfully disagree, but i can acknowledge that your view has a strong amount of merit?" If I'm smooth brained wuth this take, forgive me. But i think this would solve the problem. I'm not a gear snob myself, but I believe you can pull off being a gear snob if you're chill about it. Why not be like, "I personally wouldn't wipe my ass with Squier, but I can at least give it credit that it came a long way from what it was. And for me, it's not that Squier is bad in and of itself; I just don't think the feel and the tone is optimal. But if you like it, I legit won't knock you for it. Because it's not fair for me to say Squier doesn't have its good points. You can get a decent-ish instrument for the price. But my view ain't law." And the other side can be like, "I think you're not giving Squier enough credit, but I can acknowledge you don't think the way you do for no reason. But I DO think you missed the plot. Lol" Ya know? Something like that.
Really great video, you covered all the points in a very charming visualized way. I would even say this is your best video yet. What a masterpiece!
Wow! Thank you so much

Haha I love how the Fender and Squier are indicated!

I spat out my tea in surprise when I saw a character from black clover anime) great sense of humor and great video!
Thank you......Im a huge Black Clover fan and Gordon is my favorite character....sshhh, dont tell anyone :D .....
Would a Danelectro Longhorn Bass be a good choice to learn on?
Those basses are deceptively good playing and great sounding....I was actually quite surprised

From what I understand it just happened to be left handed by coincidence almost like divine intervention lol

ITS ALL IN THE HANDS NOT THE BASS
Bass is instrument. It solves problems. It did - OK, but it is ALL very personal.
