I ordered a Hp Chromebook like 4 days ago. The audio went out. I called hp they cldnt help me. Hopefully the factory reset will help❤ I thank u very much for ur knowledge!!!! This video is amazingly helpful very informative ❤❤❤❤😎😎😎😎
OMG THIS HELPED SOOO MUCH, I have recently not been able to open apps or settings because I have used up to much space so now I have done this and it has definitely really helped. THANKS 🙏
I try my best when I can. I started this page to help out the student at my school and now I'm helping people all over the world. I'm happy to be able to help out anyone that asks for it.
Mine says "let's step you through the recovery process" the options are recovery using external storage plus the mouse pad didn't work when it happened
You have one of the newer models most likely. We currently use HP G7, G8 and G9 models. We started with HP G3 and the setup was the same up to the G8. The G9 models start the first couple of steps different, but then comes back to the same process. The mouse pad is disabled in the first couple of steps and will start working shortly after. First press down to Advanced Options, Enable developer mode, Confirm and Confirm a 2nd time. The rest of the steps are the same. I need to do a video for these newer chromebooks.
That means the device belongs to a school/company. Whenever a student/worker loses or misplaces their device we can lock the device. No one but the school/work IT or the school district IT can take that lock off. You can try to erase it as many times as you want, but it will always show that locked screen as soon as the device reconnects to the wifi. The serial number is read by the google admin account and will recognize it as their own. You would have to go and ask ysid district to erase it from their system to be able to use it freely.
That means the device belongs to a school. Whenever a student loses or misplaces their device we can lock the device. No one but the school site IT or the school district IT can take that lock off. You can try to erase it as many times as you want, but it will always show that locked screen as soon as the device reconnects to the wifi. The serial number is read by the schools google admin account and will recognize it as their own.
This does nothing? The laptop doesn't get wiped atol? I put the laptop back on and its still ran by my work administrator? How does this help anything?
This is for chromebooks not laptops. If the device is being managed it doesn't matter how many times you wipe it. As soon as the device connects to the wifi the serial number will be recognized by the google management system. This will active settings to have it revert to how it's suppose to be used.
There's no way around it. Your admin has to unlock it to be able to use it again. Even if you try to erase it, when it connects to the wifi again a signal will be sent to lock it.
If you tried this and the screen is black then you have a bigger problem. If you try to reset and the screen doesn't activiate then something else is wrong. I've opened the chromebook and disconnected peripherals one by one to see it the device restarts. If that doens't work youll have to take it to a repair shop.
Sometimes if this process is not working I still partially use this process. When pressing the 3 buttons to start the reset process, then a screen appears asking for a USB or ctrl+D. Using a USB flash drive (8GB minimum) download the specific OS using the Chromebook Recovery Utility. When flash drive is ready plug it in when the screen says insert USB.
It needs to be deprovisioned by the district. The serial number will always reconnect to their google account, until it's deleted from their google admin account.
I have an HP X360 g3 and it worked. The only difference is my power button is on the left side next to a USB. I believe your power button is on the right side. So pressing the "esc" + "rotating arrow" + "power button(right side)" . This should work.
What happens when you press the 3 keys to reset the chromebook? Does it restart only, nothing happen, turn back on and have a black screen (this is for newer devices because we have several models from HP and about 2 yrs ago the screen comes out black instead of white)?
Try taking off the keyboard to see the inside of the chromebook. Disconnect the two cables from the wifi card and disconnect the card as well. Place back and hopefully it connects to your wifi again.
I've had some that turn on instantly, but others have lasted up to an hour. If it flickers and screen still dark, tilt screen and check if it's dimmed.
It won't let you use your personal account. The device is associated with a school/corporation. Until it's erased from their google admin account or be placed into guest mode.
Depending on how it was managed. We brick ours once we find out one is missing. Even if it is erased/powerwashed it won't let anyone sign into any account.
@@mariathebert Sorry to put you down with my info. Like I said, everyone is different on how technology is managed. When a CB is phased out/end of life it is bricked. Sometimes students end up with a spare CB and won't tell anyone when their original CB is turned in. They try using the 2nd one and that is why we brick them so it will be returned.
@@piopicoelementary9690 We returned it but they said they would maybe some how change it so i can have it but they said they might need it it’s been 2 weeks with no message so they may of kept it.
If it's locked it's being managed by a school/company. They have to use their google management system to unlock it before being able to use it. That is what I do when I student loses their chromebook. Each device is checked out like a book and we can use the serial number to lock it.
i followed the instructions to the point of the green checkmark, then it shuts down for a moment and then chrome logo shows up and it doesn't go into developer mode
Sorry to hear that. Have you tried downloading the OS on flashdrive and starting the installation like that? When I can't erase regularly I try the USB method. When both of those methods don't work our insurance or check if it's still under warranty. Sometimes the motherboard isn't working anymore and they replace the entire motherboard and it works.
That means the device is still in the system where it was purchased. I'm from a school and our devices re-enroll when erased and reconnect to the wifi. The only way for it to not enroll again is for the company to erase the serial # from their system.
If you try to erase your chromebook, but doesn't let you continue from the USB part. Then you will have to use a USB. Here is a link where you can download the software for any chromebook into a USB, but it has to be a minimum of 8GB. chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/chromebook-recovery-utili/jndclpdbaamdhonoechobihbbiimdgai/related
I just disassembled one of these, a total joke... I'll never use one of these as they are designed just for the schools. these are totally useless after they have been customized for the schools. the unit got trashed after they were disassembled... the only thing that was salvaged were the screws and maybe the wireless card.....
Parts from these devices can be used on others as well. We use HP G3's as our first model we started with and now are on HP G9's. Screens have been interchangeable with all of these models, except if it's a touchscreen version. Batteries and charging ports we used from G3 and G4, then they've been different every version for the batteries.
