A dog would make it much more fun but it's good to see you two just enjoying the outdoors.

We would have loved to have a dog with us for the day. It wasn't an option, but that won't prevent us from going out in the field and having a great time. If any new hunters out there are reading this, you don't "have" to use a dog to go upland bird hunting. It's preferred, but not a deal-breaker.
Everyone should get outdoors hunting, even if you don't have the perfect setup.

@@55FootPounds But it is obvious you lost birds that could well have been crippled

so you down birds and dont go retrieve them right away ? that leaves a lot of room to forget where they landed and thus wasting a bird

Is this public or private land?

It's all private land, but there are lots of public spots. Landowners are very nice as long as you get permission. If you don't, they get really upset.

Southwest Nebraska. We had a dry summer so it was quite brown out there.

@@55FootPounds I thought the area looked familiar. I'm sure you're not too far from my hunting grounds.

@@jhuerta2240 That's awesome! We will have to connect this season and get out there! I'm not sure what to expect this year with the current population, but we are going to give it a shot.
