Helena and Abel first met in the garden, and both of them were lost. They spent their time together. Helena and Abel loved each other, but Helena became pregnant and the father was the King of England, not the guy wearing black (I think he was a Duke or something). I think the reason why they fled the country, Helena and the guy in Black (which Fena knew as her father) was to look for Eden or maybe about the "calling". Because of that Helena was deemed as a traitor to the country for running away with the child of the King in her womb. I guess it's against the law. When she came back, she was in prison when Abel saw her. Truly a tragic love story between them. I always get nostalgic though at that scene where Helena and Abel first met. Magical.
I also got confused with the guy in black. But he was both helena's caretaker and the king's butler. He was tasked with helping helena seduce the king(Fena/next preistess had to be the child of the english king).The scene with the guy in black and helena was probably him giving her the okay that the king is willing to see her. This is further supported in the next scene with the gossiping maids. Since, Helena probably eloped the moment she heard that she was pregnant. Oh, for the tratior part, I think the fact that she left with another man also contributed to it. After all, it's a common fairytale story to elope with the man you love.
Could you tell her story in more detail? Why did they burn her, did she become queen? Was Helena a baby in her belly? That is, she was burned right after the birth of her daughter, or does the daughter know her mother? 
So let me get this straight, because Helena got knocked up by the King of England and ran off with a Dutch Noblemen, she gets burned at a stake like all witches were back in those times when her crime was just sleeping with royalty? And knowing that King of England might have been married and Helena just eloped with the Dutch Noblemen, that was an act of adultery, maybe Helena should have been given the Scarlet Letter instead of being burned at a stake.
She was killed for treason because she "kidnapped" a child of the King... that was in her womb... Had she run away after the birth or left Fena temporally in England no one would have cared that much if they disappear later, as Helena was just a mistress/concubine and Fena an illegitimate princess (cause girls had even smaller chances of ruling)
But First He Lit it on Fire Well Adult Swim would have to break some laws to air Megas XLR. The series was written off as a Tax Loss so if they did air it, they would have to fix any of the legal issues with it. Best thing to do is buy the Digital Download off of iTunes and Microsoft. I agree that it sucks that the series did so bad that it was written off as a Tax Loss and there are no DVDs and Blu-rays to buy for it but it is just so difficult for the series to make some comeback as much as we want it to.

@@boubabear9860 felt like the showwrighters had to drops some plot points to meet its schedule. Could be the reason why the last 2 episodes felt so rushed and convoluted
